I purchased a shed through the Home Depot/Tuff Shed online platform. The shed was built in my backyard today, and I immediately noticed that it does not include the standard vents that are supposed to be installed on each side.I spoke with REMOVED, the manager at the Phoenix location, who confirmed that all sheds do come standard with vents. He also acknowledged that, for some reason, the vents were removed from my ordereven though there was never an option for me to remove, add, or upgrade vents during the online purchase process. When building the shed online, the vents are automatically included as part of the standard structure. Despite confirming that vents are standard equipment and do not cost extra when purchasing a shed, I was told that I would now need to pay over $300 for someone to come out and install them. This is unacceptable and misleading. We paid more than $6,100 for this shed, plus multiple upgrades, and for Tuff Shed to remove a standard safety feature is deceptive and constitutes consumer fraud. We live in a state where summer temperatures exceed 120 degrees. Lack of ventilation poses serious health risks for my family when we need to work inside the shed. Tuff Shed must take responsibility for this error.I am requesting that Tuff Shed return to my property immediately to remove the shed and issue a full refund. I have also filed a dispute with my credit card company regarding this purchase.

Building was purchased through REMOVEDOrder number H0415-467088
Customer configured and purchased building online
Building was configured and purchased with no vents
Customer verified and completed BH on 11.21.25 (see attached)
Building was installed on 12.1.25 (see attached photos of completed building)

Customer called office on REMOVEDafter the building was installed and advised that there were no vents on the building. We confirmed with customer that no vents were configured on or purchased with the building.  We advised the customer that we could schedule installation of the vents if they wanted to purchase at this time the customer indicated that he understood, and the conversation was terminated. The wife called back approx. 1 hour later and was adamite about returning to the build site and installing the vents at no additional charge. We advised the wife that the building was configured and purchased with no vents, and that providing and installing the vents at no charge was not possible. The conversation was terminated at that point.

After a year my garage was built, tuff shed doesnt pour cement, so they sent a list of cement contractors as we dont know any and recently moved to the state. Contacted the cement contractor, came out measured and gave us a price. We were in contact with two people constantly who are both no longer with the company. I fear is part of their problem. We told tuff shed who we chose. They are now in contact with eachother. We paid for the cement and they poured the cement. Long story short, the cement needed a footer. A footer was not installed as tuff shed didnt inform the concrete contractor or send any info or plans that the cement was for a garage. I paid REMOVEDfor cement. Which is not wasted money because its not correct and the city has came out & fined tuff shed as they didnt contact the city for an inspection to make sure everything was done correctly. And it wasnt built correctly. They had to come out multiple times, left so much REMOVEDbuilt it correctly. So the garage is being taken down next week. No apologies. Just a refund after the garage is taken down. CHOOSE ANOTHER COMPANY. They are incompetent and I have no idea how they have been in business this long because they have no clue what the h they are doing!

Below is the information provided by our new General Manager in REMOVED, REMOVED, who started in this role on June 30th. Much of this project occurred prior to his arrival, but he has done his best to review the history and provide an accurate timeline. We understand this situation has been stressful for the customer, and we hope this clarification helps.

      Project Timeline & Summary

      Engineering
March 4, 2024: Preliminary engineering drawings approved by *. REMOVED
April 18, 2024: Final engineering drawings completed by REMOVED

Concrete Work (Not Coordinated With Tuff Shed)
While we do not have written documentation from the customer regarding their concrete work, internal discussions and follow-up with the concrete contractor indicate:
The customer hired their own concrete company independently.
The slab was poured without notifying Tuff Shed Store 690.
The slab was poured before final engineering drawings were completed, which means it did not meet the specifications required for this garage.

      Permitting
June 28, 2024: Initial permit approved
June 28, 2024: REMOVEDrequested drainage approval
April 1, 2025: Final permit issued (unclear on why this took so long)

      Installation & Inspection
June 27, 2025: Installation completed by installer REMOVED
Mid-August 2025: Final garage inspection failed

      County & Contractor Follow-Up
Early September 2025: REMOVEDspoke with REMOVEDat REMOVEDregarding the inspection failure
The concrete company confirmed that no footers were poured, as they had told the customer they were unnecessary
However, footers are required for this garage under both engineering specifications and local code.

      Required Corrective Action
By mid-September, the factory determined the structure could not be brought into compliance without:
      A demolition permit
      Removal of the existing structure
A full repour of the concrete with proper footers
      Customer Decision
The customer chose not to complete the required corrective concrete work. Because the existing slab did not meet engineering or code requirements, the structure could not pass inspection, and the customer requested a refund.

Ordered a Tuff Shed for my property and I am unhappy with the damaged and improperly installed product that was delivered. On the day the shed was built I noticed the front panel of the shed had a big chunk broken off the top of it. I called it out to the tech who said he would be "fixing it". Once installed I found that his fix was to add some caulk, paint over it and put a wedge of wood on the inside of it to hold it in place. This is not fixed, this is bandaged. Then I was offered "free paint" Also spilled paint all over my grass which will grow and disappear but just shows to the level of care provided. The trim boards around the window was not installed properly and has gaps, uneven and will allow weather to penetrate the areas. The window that I purchased was not sealed. The window screen has paint on it. The upgraded floors that I purchased is damaged in multiple places having chunks taken out of the floor. The shelves that I purchased were also not installed properly as I have one 4 foot off the ground then the next almost all the way by the ceiling. These are not even functionable in these areas. I was contacted by REMOVEDabout the issues who offered to send someone out and fix the issues. The tech showed up and immediately started making excuses about all the damage and telling me I should just ask for free ramps or something to make up for the damage. I already have ramps so this was an ignorant offer. He was complainging about the work he would have to do to fix the broken shed. At this point I told him to leave as I had no confidence that someone that did not want to do the work was going to do it correctly the next time. REMOVEDcalled me about 2 hours later asking what happened. She offered to send the same exact technician back out to fix it again and at this time my time has been wasted twice and I told her no- I do not want the same tech back out. I told her I am not happy, I paid almost $5k for a shed that was in poor shape.

I am rejecting this response because: Id like a full explanation of the punch list and a resolution to the fact of what I had to jump through to get the shed fixed. This has taken up my time as well as the issues with the shed. I cant give an approval to the response without a documented resolution. I do still think a discount should be added as well due to the issues and time/ steps its taken to resolve this.

      Sincerely,

This email is to notify the BBB that the contractor did not follow through with their resolution. They sent someone out and completed part of the work in a manner that was not acceptable.
The only thing fixed was the window screen was replaced.

      1. Floors look like cREMOVEDfor an upgraded floor has discolored putty put on the floor where nails were over driven. Not a good repair job.
      2. New siding board has a spot with chipped paint. Also has over driven nails in it.
      3. No changes to shelves at all.
      4. Trim boards around window in back no changes made still do not sit flush and not caulked.
      5. No touch up paint done. Can still see scuffs around it.

Ive reached out to the contractor to share the updated concerns. He thought it was done. They want to schedule another time to come out and fix it and at this point Im fed up and dont want them back. The only reasonable resolution at this point is a significant refund for the shed thats not put together as it was sold to me.

      Thank you,

This customer has appeared to be inconsistent and contentious since the build.  According to our installer, he consented to the location of a shelf and the method of fixing a slightly damaged piece of siding.

At the first service call, he claimed that our technician was argumentative about what he planned to do with the shed, and he sent the technician away.  This happened through a doorbell camera.  It was at this point that he filed this complaint, asking for $1800.

I then began communicating with the customer by phone, though he clearly prefers writing, and we agreed to the scope of a subsequent service call.   Unfortunately, the team of technicians failed to complete all the items on the work order.  We tried in vain while the techs were on site to reach the customer about the location of the shelf, so it seemed prudent to leave it in place. The customer was utilizing his shed, which has only cosmetic issues.

It later became clear through ongoing discussions that the customer preferred a monetary resolution. In an effort to resolve the matter amicably, and in recognition of the inconvenience caused, we offered a settlement of $1,200. The customer accepted this resolution, and the refund was processed on November 7.

I'm not happy with the install of my shed from Tuff shed. I paid $4700.00 for a Sundance lean to. I also paid $200.00 for a man tuff shed recommended to level my spot. When he was finished it looked halfway decent. The guy that installed my shed put more blocks in and now its 8-9 inches off the ground. I wanted it to be as low as possible. I need the get a ramp just to put anything in it. I want my $200 back since it was a waste of money to be leveled. I'm not a happy customer.

Because of the inadequate experience and lack of understanding of customer needs, the sales rep REMOVEDgave incorrect information and my shed is not acceptable as built. It ended up facing the incorrect way, she did not explain anything about the window so it's only one on the wrong side, the door has to swing the wrong way, because she did not explain anything correctly. I gave specific instructions and photos of what I wanted and it's entirely wrong and unacceptable. The manager never reached out when the assistant manage should have said, we have a concerned unhappy customer. REMOVEDassistant mgr only wanted to do a conference call to save REMOVEDjob. Nothing was accomplished per my opinion. Now it's all backwards for the future yard design.

On Monday October 13th we sent our installers out to construct the building. We received word from our sales person that the customer was unhappy with the shed design and orientation on her property.
We spoke with the installers who informed us that the customer was upset, but that she told them to turn the building to fit the concrete foundation. After the install was complete, we continued to receive feedback from the customer that she was unhappy with her experience with Tuff Shed. After several calls and voice messages REMOVEDwas able to speak with the customer and listen to her feelings around the experience she had with us from start to finish. She provided feedback on things that we could have done that could have made it better. We also discussed a few things that we could potentially do to the building that may make it more suitable for her. (re-locating the door/window).  She stated that she would like to think about it. I hope to speak with her in the coming days about those options.
My goal is ultimately to make the customer happy.

I bought a Tuff Shed in September of 2020. They didnt deliver it and install it until December 2020. Tuff Shed had a 5 year warranty. My shed doors are falling apart. Called them 10/2/2025. Hired REMOVED, found that Tuff Shed's REMOVEDEngineers engineered the building to withstand 115 mph winds, not the required 145 mph winds. REMOVEDfound that the building met the 145 mph requirement with few additions and was successful in re-engineering the building to 145 mph. Honorable mention: Tuff Shed installed replacement windows instead of new windows. Not surprisingly, the windows leaked/leak. No response from Tuff Shed, my husband has been working to resolve the leaks. One window continues to leak, but I have no desire to work with Tuff Shed to resolve it. In my years of experience and living life, I have never encountered such customer service. I really do not have the words. The words I have are not complimentary. For example, number of "stars": for me, it is truly a negative 5 in response time. The lack of response was mind-boggling, stunning, and truly the worst I have seen. When Tuff Shed would respond, it was always the same: "It's in the works". Ultimately, the fix for Tuff Shed was simple. Tell me the truth, and either bring in a home office engineer or hire a local engineering firm to reassess the building vs the WPI-8E requirements. I spent $2,297.42 for the engineering firm and the additions. I am asking for reimbursement of $2,297.42. No advertising issues.Thank you for your time,REMOVED

We do not have any record that customer purchase services to get a TDI certificate; We do see customer purchase REMOVEDrated garage doors, (4)windows, and hurricane clips- these are special order products, has additional fees/labor, and was installed on the customer's structure on January 2024.

However, we did reach out to our REMOVEDto start the process of a TDI certificate in 2024 ( which has addition fees but customer was not charge for the service), but customer wanted a higher wind rating for her home owners insurance. The wind rating for the structure meets the Brazoria County building requirements, permit was received, and an inspection was not required.

Regarding reimbursement, the customer did not purchase directly from REMOVED, our order came from REMOVED, but customer did receive a REMOVEDrefund from REMOVEDthat Tuff Shed approve to lose from the purchase order on April 1, 2024. Request for reimbursement from Tuff Shed is denied.

      Date: 09/30/2025

REMOVED. spoke with Ms. REMOVEDregarding her refund request, and my understanding is that an agreement was reached. She acknowledged that she had already received a $2k discount at the beginning, following discussions with her brother, REMOVED. In addition, we installed the building with all the necessary supplies to support a TDI inspection, at no additional cost to the customer. During my conference call with REMOVEDearly in the process, we specifically discussed the WP8, and it was agreed that moving forward with this installation would complete the project as intended.

I am rejecting this response because:

Home S and Tuff Shed are stalling, and worse, they are not being truthful. Homes S is not being honest in his response. I have documentation and witnesses to prove my statements below.

1)I bought and paid for a Windstorm-rated Garage and a Windstorm Certificate from Tuff Shed. Tuff Shed failed to provide a Windstorm Certificate.

See attached from Tuff Shed dated May 23, 2024
Regarding the statement: Provided Windstorm at "no cost" to the customer. I spent $8,750 on Windstormplus building upgrades.
Documentation: See attached, highlighted in red, Windstorm expenses $7,850 and $900.
      Witnesses:
Tuff Shed Salesman (no longer employed at Tuff Shed)
      REMOVEDS (quoted windstorm expenses)
REMOVED(Brother, started the negotiations with Tuff Shed)
      REMOVED(Husband)
      2) The $2,000 refund I received.
Tuff Shed was running a promotion at the time of purchase. Tuff Shed was offering free building permits and processing feesnothing to do with my Windstorm Certificate.
      Witnesses:

      REMOVEDS

In case you still doubt that I requested a Windstorm Certificate, please see the excerpt below from one of my many emails asking REMOVEDS for a status update on my Windstorm Certificate.

I will not pay twice for the same service. Tuff Shed's engineering firm engineered my garage for 115 mph winds. To meet windstorm requirements, my building had to be engineered to withstand winds of up to 145 mph.
I hired an engineering firm to assess my building for a windstorm certificate. As previously mentioned and documented, REMOVEDsuccessfully reengineered my building to meet Windstorm requirements at an additional cost of $ 2,297.42.

REMOVEDS and Tuff Shed, I expect a refund of $2,297.42.

      Dear REMOVED

I texted you yesterday and left you a message today.

      1) When we spoke on July 12, you said you thought I would have my windstorm certificate within two weeks. Today marks two weeks, and I have heard nothing from you.
      2) Regarding my leaky windows, REMOVEDhas recommendations on how to fix them and has shared this information with Tuff Shed. I have not heard from Tuff Shed regarding the plan to fix these windows. Please let me know when I can expect the windows to be fixed.

REMOVED, I want to work with you on this matter. I do not want to hire a lawyer, but I am losing confidence that you can resolve this issue.

Thank you for your attention to this matter,

      REMOVED

Purchased my 12x24 TR-800 building June 2025 through Tuff Sheds and REMOVED$11,333.00 Sales REMOVEDvery helpful and informative To be set up on a concrete slab that passed the Tuff Sheds REMOVEDfor the Shed build from REMOVED.Aug 11 REMOVEDparts that were pre constructed. A 2 man crew dragged extremely large sections of the shed over a concrete retaining wall painted side down causing all sorts of un needed damage to the wood and paint. My neighbor and I witnessed it and looked at each other in REMOVEDstart off I live in an HOA and the sales REMOVEDand I discussed the colors had to match my home due to the rules.Brown trim and door. The building showed up with white trim and door. When I spoke to the men they were authorized to paint the trim but I was told the door only came in white (primer)They managed to construct the building and touched up the damages done while unloading the building parts. When it came time to install the rollup door it was white (first problem) and it was also smaller than the door hole. 6 instead of 10 I believe.Reached out to supervisor and he ordered correct door color and size. A week later he installed a temp painted door.29 Aug new door arrived. The same 2 man crew changed out the door and in the process damaged the outside door trim, did not secure the threshold to the floor and the door is not installed properly so will not close correctly.I have filled out the Tuff Sheds contact form. Emailed Tuff Shed REMOVEDs and contacted the local supervisor. I received no REMOVEDly from anyone after submitting my pictures.Filing the BBB complaint seems to be the only true way to get a response from anyone at Tuff Sheds.Until today the local supervisor has been very helpful, courteous and seemed to be on top of things. He asked for my pictures early this morning and Ive heard nothing in return.I still have a non functional $11,000 shed.Only allowed 2 photos, I have more

      Business Response

The customer was frustrated from the beginning of the build process due to the concrete job that was done not being to standard, the customer had every right to be frustrated. Mr. REMOVEDsigned the builder's helper on 6-19-2025 which reflected white doors, white trim, white vents and white drip edge. When our installers arrived at the customer's house,he informed them that nothing on his shed could be white. REMOVEDpersonally delivered REMOVEDdrip edge, vents and extra REMOVEDpaint so the installers could paint the white trim REMOVEDat customer's request. He informed the customer that I could order him a canister door painted light stone, but it would be a 2-week lead time before the door arrived. Mr. REMOVEDwas concerned that his HOA would fine him, so as a temporary solution he personally painted one of our stock canister doors almond brittle which was the temporary color that the customer selected. When the painted door arrived we scheduled our installers to go back out to switch the doors out, the crew never informed us that the concrete seemed to be out of level in the door opening (REMOVEDwill confirm today if the concrete is out of level) so there was a gap at the bottom of one side of the door. The crew also scratched up the paint on the trim around the door casing, Mr. REMOVEDmade me aware of this on 9-3-25 at 10:18am, Mr. REMOVEDis correct that I did not respond after he sent the photos until this morning. Mr. REMOVEDdefinitely has the right to be frustrated and upset considering how his experience has been from the beginning, we have not demonstrated the standard that Tuff Shed represents. REMOVEDhave assured Mr. REMOVEDthat I will not rest until everything is taken care of on our end, I am personally going to his house today at 12pm, our installer crew is going back after 5pm today to rectify the aesthetics.

I am rejecting this response because:

The Slab was inspected by Tuff Shed REMOVEDand is level.

The temp door lined up and closed perfectly.

My concrete frustration had nothing to do with the shed build. The shed frustration is all caused by the company. The trim was always sup to be brown and something went wrong in your system. I have at least 5 different emails with different stuff from both Tuff Sheds and REMOVEDwhere can that not cause some confusion.

Brown Trim was not delivered, the tuff shed builder painted the white trim brown and that was non issue.

The issue is from the way they caused extra damage to the building during unload with only 2 people and not completing the work.

as Mentioned above , the building slab is perfectly level with my 1, 4 and 8 level.

      Sincerely,

      Surrogate REMOVED

Tuff Shed REMOVEDComplaint:In the fall of 2024, I placed a deposit of $900 with Tuff Shed at their REMOVEDstore location for a shed purchase. Unfortunately, due to permit issues, we had to cancel the order shortly afterward. I was informed that the deposit would be refunded.Since then, I have made numerous attempts to follow up via phone and email. Each time, I was told someone would get back to me, but I have not received any meaningful response or resolution. As of today, August 26th, 2025, I still have not received my $900 deposit back. This has been an extremely frustrating experience. I have been more than patient, and I believe I have given the business ample time and opportunity to resolve this matter. I am now seeking assistance from the BBB to help recover my deposit.Desired Resolution:I am requesting a full refund of my $900 deposit.

First, I would like for the owner of this company to call me in regard to this compliant. REMOVED). From the beginning when I met with the sales person REMOVEDI have a uphill battle with this shed. REMOVEDhas been nasty and very unprofessional. His antics he has passed on to me were witnessed by 2 top REMOVEDmanagers who had to step in and call his boss REMOVED. REMOVEDcame to our house to access what had to be done for the shed to be built. He explained that I needed to trim a few tress branches and take a small part of the pool fence down and take small shed away that was there. I did what he asked. I explained that I am already spending way more then I want. REMOVEDsaid ground and everything else was ok. Well when the installer came he said ground wasn't good for him and that the shed would sink. When i called REMOVEDhe wouldn't even take my call. I had to call the head manager at REMOVEDand he called him. He told him there was nothing he was willing to do. I had to wait another 2 weeks to get the ground ready for installer at a cost of almost $ 850 dollars. They also never brought the vent and door closers that were supposed to be installed. Had to wait another 2 weeks for that. Then the shelfs that were supposed to be installed were all wrong in size and where they were supposed to be placed. I had the manager REMOVEDcome to my house to show him the problems in which I had A 3 way call with him and REMOVED(manager REMOVED) where he promised to fix these mistakes and would make good for all the problems. REMOVEDdid not fulfill what we had in whole talked about. At times even he was rude to me . Sending me a text in which I have saying "YOU ARE UNBELIEVABLE" . Is this professional or unprofessional. Listen at the end of the day I am the customer who was spending over $8300.00 dollars. There is more to this as well, I am running out of roam to complain to you about. I know this is not how to treat a paying customer. So please have the owner call REMOVED
