On August ******* my car was repossessed through this company. When I received my car back it had a scratch on the driver rear panel and items were stolen from my vehicle. I had a pair of prescription sunglasses that were taking along with 2 cases of water and my sunglasses cleaning wipes. I also had a pair of purple brand jeans and a new unopened box of Dre Beats Solo 4 in blue. When I retrieve my vehicle there were to big brown bags in my trunk with my belongings. I was going through the bag and my jeans were at the bottom. The **** bag and Dre beat headphones were gone. I emailed the towing company immediately and was told they had to dispose some of my items and I received everything and there is no one else to talk to or email. Also they never scratched my car. I never received a detailed list on any of my items. I have receipts to prove I recently was gifted the headphones. I also had to pay an extra 350$ in cash in order to receive my car when I already paid 700$ in towing fees. They told me my car was in ********** when it was in **. I had to wait a whole 1hr for someone to bring my car to ********** and was told to hand the person the 350 in cash. Im beyond upset at this point.

They repoed my truck because I was to months behind because I didn't realize my debit card expired and I did contact the bank to update new information. My truck was driving perfectly fine before it got repoed, actually 2 weeks prior me and my family went to ********* and Pismo the following weekend truck drove perfectly fine. I have them the keys because I already knew their was a mistake with the bank and I would get my truck back. The guy drove my truck out into the road and backed it up to the repo truck with no problem, picked up the rear of my truck and took off did not strap it down or anything. I go to get my truck back 2 days later, you can clearly tell someone was joyriding my truck, they pulled it out of the lot , locked the gate and went back inside. My wife went to drive off and transmission started slipping, got my truck home which wasn't too far, got a mechanic to come out and told me my transmission is blown. In the photo I attached you can see shards of metal. I know have to come out of pocket $8000 to have it fixed, I will be contacting a lawyer. If I do not get a response.

My 2014 Chevrolet Volt was repossessed on June 5, 2025, by ************************* (***) and delivered to Benchmark Asset Resolution at ******************************************************. I recovered the vehicle from Benchmark on June 19, 2025.Before I was allowed to inspect the vehicle or retrieve my personal property, I was required to sign paperwork that had been emailed to me. Benchmark staff stated the process would not proceed unless I signed the documents in ********** the time of pickup, the vehicle was non-operational and had a dead battery. I used my *** membership towing service to remove the vehicle from the facility. After release, the AAA driver was able to get the vehicle started, but the vehicle continued to malfunction:- The emergency brake engaged on its own - The driver-side door would not close properly - The car remained unsafe to drive and required towing Tow yard manager ****** witnessed these issues and took photos with his phone at the time of release.Further inspection revealed significant visible and functional damage that was not present prior to repossession, including:- A damaged passenger-side tire with chunks missing - Damaged alloy wheel - Driver-side door damage - Broken door trim - Damage to the charging port - Stabilizing sensor faults - **************** system warnings I emailed Benchmark regarding the condition of the vehicle. They responded stating that the damage was pre-existing and my claim was denied a position that contradicts the paperwork I was required to sign, which contains no record or acknowledgment of this damage.

To Whom It May Concern,I am filing this complaint due to unethical, deceptive, and potentially unlawful practices carried out by Benchmark Asset Resolution, Inc. following the repossession of my vehicle. After my vehicle was repossessed, I contacted Benchmark to retrieve my personal belongings. They attempted to charge me $150 just to access my property, which I immediately informed them was illegal under California law **************** ******). When they realized I was aware of my rights, they shifted tactics and demanded an additional fee to reschedule the appointment, even though I had already shown up at the appointed time and was denied access. When I was finally permitted to retrieve my belongings, I discovered that many of my items had already been removed and relocated without my notification or consent. I was required to sign a form stating I received all of my property, but when I asked to see what they documented, they admitted to intentionally mislabeling my 20,000-gallon pool and all of its accessories as an air mattress to reduce their liability.Several of my belongings were missing, including:All cash and coins that were in the vehicle around 200 bucks My ******* Cup and a spray bottle Possibly more items, as I was denied access for over 2 weeks and cannot be certain what else was taken or removed I do have photographic evidence showing my ******* Cup inside the vehicle at the time of repossession.I have made multiple written attempts to contact Benchmark and remedy this situation, but they have refused to acknowledge their misconduct, return the stolen items, or issue a refund for the unlawful charges. I have also filed complaints with the ************************************ (****) and the ************************************************************ (****). I will be escalating this further to small claims court if this matter is not resolved.

I am filing a formal complaint against Benchmark Asset Resolutions *** regarding their failure to properly handle and return my personal belongings after my vehicle was repossessed in December 2024.Upon repossession, my car contained valuable personal property, ***luding phone, bags, and jewelry, amongst other valuable and personal items. When I attempted to retrieve my belongings, I was met with uncooperative staff, misinformation, and unreasonable barriers to access.Despite multiple efforts to contact them and follow their procedures, they later informed me that my items had been disposed of. California law requires repossession companies to store personal property and provide proper notice before disposal, yet I never received any written notification or meaningful opportunity to retrieve my items.I have s***e learned that many others have had similar issues with this company, suggesting a pattern of misconduct. This companys failure to communicate properly and safeguard my belongings has caused me financial and emotional distress. If anyone else had a similar experience, please reach out to me at ****************************************

Yesterday my car ***** was repossessed by Benchmark Asset Resolutions, I have spent the last day settling all debts with ********** and they have issued a release for my vehicle. Benchmark Asset Resolutions is using what I believe might be illegal tactics in order to get more money out of me. All appointments are unavailable until March 18th unless we pay an additional $300 for afterhours. I had to secure a loan from my family in order to get payments settled with ********** and dont have much more here, i'm already preparing to give up my apartment. I don't have many more options. These tactics seem predatory and illegal, there is. no one that i can talk to on the phone and they dont list the options for afterhours pick up on their website, they want it to be sent in a private email and agree to pay extra but everything else is so automated. I have also submitted a complaint with **** ******* at the ********************************** Repocessers and also sent an email to former president ******** **** , i am prepared to file as many complaints as it takes. This has to be predatory and illegal.

    Business Response

Our calendar is full but we do offer expedited services for a fee. It just coincidental that the cost of the after hours appointment is similar to the additional storage because our calendar is unusually full at the moment.

I am rejecting this response because: The law requires that the release of the vehicle be in a reasonable amount of time, 140+ hours is not a reasonable amount of time, the attorney generals office has received a complaint as well. I have left a voicemail with the detectives department as well because i believe this is criminal.

    Sincerely,

November 19, 2024 I went to recover my vehicle that was repoed. After getting everything handled with my finance company they provide me with the contact information to Benchmark Asset Recovery. I called and it was very difficult to get a hold of them. When I was finally able to schedule a pick time they schedule me 3 days away. They charged me $300 for an after hour appointment to pick up my car the same day. After speaking with my finance company they said I wasn't supposed to pay any additional fees or anything to them. Once I received my vehicle I noticed several items were moved from where I had them originally. I also noticed money missing from my center counsel and I inspected my vehicle further and told the representative about it and she wasn't much help. They Also had the majority of my tools in the back seat stacked up like someone was ready to take them but they put them back and my belonging in a brown bag and I asked why they did that and why they got into my truck with out the keys she said to take inventory. I think they also have other agenda there because that same night they broke into my truck and stole specifically does same tools. I filed a police report

Stole personal items out of my car, such as new laundry soap, detergent, phone chargers, car phone holder. Minor damages to the car they refuse to acknowledge. EXTREMELY TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERIVCE. UNPROFESSIONAL, DISRESPECTFUL, OVER CHARGING (SCAMMERS). No proper communication, locations are in hidden places with no title or signs stating the company name for ability to find it. I was given one location to pick up my car then got told another. If I wouldn't have called to confirm the address it was at I would've missed the appointment. They set appointments way out in the month which feels like a complete scam to charge you the most money. So much wrong with this company.
