I recently checked my credit report and found a collection account reported by **********************, account ending in ******, opened on May 2, 2022, with a balance of $601.I do not recognize this account and never had any dealings with this company. I believe this is a result of identity theft.I am requesting that Caine & Weiner investigate this matter and remove this fraudulent account from my credit file. Please provide written confirmation once it has been resolved.Business Response

To Whom It May Concern, I am disputing an invalid account reported by ******************** and Weiner on my credit report. This account is inaccurate, unverified, and violates the Fair Credit Reporting ACT (FCRA). Since it does not meet the legal standards for reporting, I request its immediate removal. If the furnisher cannot provide proper validation, it must be deleted per federal ****** Whom It May Concern, I am disputing the account reported by ******************** and Weiner on my credit report. This account is inaccurate, unverified, and in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).Under U.S. Code 1681i and 1681s-2, you are required to verify accuracy of any information reported. I honestly dont get why CAINE & WEINER is reporting this debt under my name because I dont owe them anything. I never signed anything with them, and when I asked for a copy of the original application, they didnt even bother to provide it. Its frustrating because this is hurting my credit for no reason, and its just not fair. I am filing a formal complaint against ***** ****** of Caine & Weiner, a debt collection agency.A past-due car insurance payment from 2023 was mistakenly unpaid due to bills being sent to an old address.Upon receiving suspicious communications from Caine & Weiner, I directly contacted the original creditor (the insurance provider) to confirm the debt.I paid the full outstanding balance directly to the original company and received a receipt and confirmation from them.I informed the collector of the payment and provided written proof, including correspondence from the creditor.Despite this, ***** ****** continues to contact and harass me, now claiming that the payment I made was for a previous year (2022) under the same account, which is false.On 6/27, I issued a formal cease and desist letter via email.After receiving the cease and desist, Caine & Weiner violated the *** Act by using "unfair or deceptive acts or practices in or affecting commerce" (Section 5 of the *** Act, 15 U.S.C. 45).This conduct is harassing, misleading, and in violation of my rights.Business Response

I believe this account has been assigned to me in error, as I am not liable for the debt in question.I have no contractual obligation with CAINE & WEINER and have never received any documentation to substantiate the validity of this debt, despite my formal requests for verification. I specifically asked to review the original application or contract related to this alleged debt. Since CAINE & WEINER has been unable to provide this documentation, I assert that the debt is not mine and should not be associated with my records.I kindly request the removal of this erroneous collection from my account and an acknowledgment of this resolution in writing.
