On Sep 2, 2023, I transferred my domain ************* to Wordpress.com, because Wordpress.com ("**") was offering a deal that offered complimentary transfer and free first year:"Well pay all your fees, plus an extra year of registration." **************************** However, I now find myself unable to locate and access my domain from my ** account, even though the domain is shown as being listed on and managed by the ** registrar:1. ********************************************************** (Registrar URL: Wordpress.com)2. ******************************************* (Registrar URL: **************************************, where Automattic owns Wordpress.com) I have tried to reach human support at **, but unable to. Here is my "Catch22" conversation with **'s bot: Me: "I had a website ************* that I transferred over from ****** Domains on Sep 2, 2023. I can no longer find it in my account. Please help!"**: "Since this involves a domain transfer and you're unable to locate your domain, this is a serious concern that should be addressed promptly to ensure you don't lose access to your domain. Please type 'connect me to a human' and I'll help escalate this to our support team who can investigate your domain status and help recover access to your site."Me: "connect me to a human" **: "It sounds like you want to talk to a human. I'm working to connect you with a Happiness Engineer who can:Track down your domain ************* Help restore your access Please remain on this chat and a support team member will assist you shortly." But no one joins the chat for hours. Please help me retrieve my domain!Business Response
Date: 04/15/2025
Thank you for reaching out about your domain name! We'd be happy to help you track it down.
This kind of issue is often caused by someone owning more than one WordPress.com account, and logging in to the wrong one. If you have multiple accounts, please log in and double check that the domain isn't owned by one of them. If you have more than one active email address, please try searching your inboxes for emails from WordPress.com? That might reveal a second account that has what you're looking for.
If you still aren't able to locate the domain name, please contact our support team directly - I know you tried that before and were unsuccessful, so to make sure you reach us, please follow these specific steps:
1. Log in to your WordPress.com account and open support just like you did before
2. Tell the bot "connect me to a human"
3. If it asks for context on your problem say something simple like "I can't find my domain" and then reply to additional messages with ""connect me to a human"
4. The bot will provide a timeframe for a Happiness Engineer to respond - at that point your message is on our to-do list. You should get a reply right away or within a few minutes, but if we're actively helping other customers we might need to follow up later in the day, but we will get back to you.Initial Complaint

HellSubject: Urgent Assistance Required: Account Access Issue Hello,Today, I created a WordPress account and paid for my website. However, I am extremely concerned because it has been over an hour since my payment, and I still cannot access my account. I have searched for options to contact support but found none, which only adds to my frustration. It feels as though I have been unfairly locked out of my account without any means of receiving assistance.I would greatly appreciate immediate support to resolve this issue, as it is crucial for me to regain access to my account and ensure that my subscription is active.Thank you.Business Response

I have been locked out of my blog *************** for months. I get emails occasionally at the email address above, although password resets go to *********************** I have reset my password, but either I get a blank screen, or I am taken to my demwritepress template from when I wrote for them. I recently received an email that I am about to be charged my annual subscription fee for the **** I attempted again to get in so I could cancel it and not get charged, I hit the same brick walls. I have attempted to contact customer service, it tells me that I cannot speak to a live person since I am not a paying customer and directs me to the chat forums. I am filing this complaint because I paid for a service I cannot access, and they are about to charge me $118 on March 15th, and are not letting in to stop the charge. Please help.Business Response

Hi *****,
I understand how frustrating this must be, and I appreciate you reaching out so we can help get this sorted.
It looks like your site, ***********, is linked to a WordPress.com account under the email ************************************ This type of email is generated when signing up with "Sign in with *****," which can sometimes cause confusion if you expected your usual email to be associated with the account. Additionally, we found two other accounts under ********************** and ********************** that also belong to you.
To prevent any unwanted charges, Ive disabled auto-renew on your subscription, so you wont be billed the $118 on March 15. Since the last payment was made a year ago, its past our refund window, so Im unable to issue a refund for that charge.
If you need help regaining access to the account tied to ************************************ please email us at ******************************* from either ********************** or **********************, referencing ticket #*******, and well help get everything sorted for you.
Looking forward to resolving this for you!Initial Complaint

Someone started a WordPress account under my email and I am getting emails sent to me for marketing because this hacker used my email. I am a Producer in the entertainment industry with a law degree from *******. I tried to contact someone at Word Press but they want you to pay $8 to talk to support. Why should I have to pay for support if I never created the account. I am also the west coast editor of a magazine that is hosted on Word Press and this does not make me trust this company. I want to make sure my email is never used again. Word Press should provide an option to be contacted for people on their page to contact them when someone illegally uses their email. Please do not allow people to set up accounts that you cannot verify their identity.Business Response

Wordpress.com 1) charged my bank account $540 with no warning beforehand to give me an opportunity to cancel the subscription 2) issued a fake receipt on the website. Was supposed to get a refund within 7-10 business days & didn't actually get it. 3) Have no human beings to talk to to resolve the issue. No customer service. They talk about getting help from "Happiness Engineers"? Excuse me? If those do exist, there's no link to talk to them of any kind. This is typical of what we're headed for as a society with AI replacing actual labor. It's just a loop back to FAQ's over & over again with no resolution. This is really bad User Experience & proves how unethical businesses can get away with being. I dont have $540 to throw away. I'm unemployed. I need that money back. They said they refunded me 1/3/25. It is now ************ still haven't gotten it. That is way more than 7-10 business days.Business Response

Word Press Intentionally makes everything difficult so most everyone has to hire a Website Designer to make a Website Word Press templates the Text covers hole page ****** to Big or to small and Picture to Big or made smaller cant be moved around much a Small Picture takes 1/2 Page and can not add 2 Pictures . I am rejecting this response because: Word press should provide Template with Word Text correct side margins like Book Text 200 Pages all on single Page so Copy and Paste 200 Pages and add Picture takes 5 minuets to make a Website the Word press Picture does not resize well only allows one Picture that has space fore 3 identical size
All People Have zero rights in Court when 100% nobody wins in Court then Word Press makes everything not work to force most everyone to hire a Professional
My Website **********
Open Template there Four 1.5 inch picture in row takes 1.75 inch space so 100% only upload 4 pictures then copy and paste TEXT should take 4 minuets make website
Do not want to spend 6 months trying to figure out how to resize TEXT and Picture Box
Its Nice Support Gives Word Press instructions all do not work good you Change Margin Size then text does not Save Upload to Internet

Hi ****,
Thank you very much for the reply.
Your site, **********, while running on WordPress, is not hosted with WordPress.com. Rather, it's running a self-hosted version of WordPress. WordPress comes in two varieties: a managed hosting option (us) and a DIY version (like what GoDaddy offers). More on the differences can be read about this at **************************************************.

On or amout March 24, 2024 in error I had purchased a service that I didn't need from WrodPress for the amount totalling $46.66, as you can see the attached receipt. I then contacted WordPress to inform them of the error and I was promised a refund which I am yet to receive nearly ONE YEAR LATER.Business Response

We have no emails from the account attached to this particular purchase. In addition, customers can cancel their own purchase at any time, without ever contacting support. Cancelling does not require an email, phone call, or anything else. Just to log in and cancel the purchase, which can still be done by the complainant.
This could have been done by the customer at any time in the last 8 months. On our end we've disabled auto-renewal so that they will not be charged again, due to this complaint.

The name listed above is my birth name, but I go by ******* *******. Anyway, I signed up for wordpress sometime between 2023 and todays current date, however in the first few months, I beganm having constant problems with the wordpress widgets. Within 6 months I cancelled my subscription and tried deleting my account, supposedly i had 2FA on and I lost access to my 2FA code and my recovery code and even though my email was verified, they refused to help me regain access. As of today, Woocommerce is still connected to my Stripe acount and due to Stripes rules, only Wordpress can delete Woocommerce from my profile, of which Wordpress won't help me with as I am no longer a paid customer on their highest tier as that is the only way they will respond and take care of my issue is if I am logged in and on an expensive paid plan which is stated on their website. I'm tired of logging into stripe to see Woocommerce in my list of express accounts.Business Response

Hello *******,
Im so sorry to hear about the frustrating experience youve had, *******. It sounds incredibly stressful to feel stuck like this, especially when you're trying to resolve an issue and aren't receiving the support you need to move forward.
I am Chai, a Happiness Engineer at WordPress.com and I would love to help.
Could you send us an email to ******************************* with your website address, so we can check further into your case and help you further.
You can also share a transaction ID from your previous charges to help us locate your account.
For payments processed at WordPress.com, youll find a 10-digit unique code for the transaction on your bank or credit card statement.
In your bank statement, the charge will be labeled with "WordPress" , followed by a 10-digit unique code. For example "WordPress 61AZ1XJA19"

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference tocomplaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.After receiving this response and searching my bank acccount statements, I have found the monthly statement with a few wordpress transactions dating back to November 2023, the only month last year with multiple wordpress Transactions. I will send them a few domains via I believe it would be sometime today, if not Monday as I need to gather the rest of my old domain list so they can figure out although I believe it is a certain one that starts with an X. I will also note that Chai was the one who requested this info to provide me support with this situation.
Also, thanks Chai for honoring my preferred name. It means a lot, especially with everything going on over the past few years with the attacks on people like me.

I purchased a premium subscription for a year from WordPress on October 7th, 2024 to develop a webpage for my wife. I cancelled my subscription yesterday, however, without knowing that a refund would be availabe if the cancellation is done within 2 weeks of purchase. Therefore, I wanted to restore my purchase and I am trying to reach out to WordPress to get help for that. I do not get any kind of support and there is no human to talk to. It is unfair for a person like me (it did not give me any warnings about my cancellation saying that I would lose the money I paid) not to get any help from them because my purchase was made just about 3 weeks before. I would like to get my subscription restored (Premium) so that I can use it with premium benefits.Business Response

WordPress is refusing to remove a page they're hosting that for my own independent record label, which includes images and personal information, that should no longer be on their website. I deleted the original page, so I have no idea why it's still on their site. WordPress only has three ways to identify yourself, none of which I have, as I didn't pay for the page, nor do I have an activation link. However, I've done far better, and provide my license (info blanked out) to prove who I am and the owner of everything on the page. The link is: **********************************************. Their ridiculous "rules" for self-identification do not ***** Federal legalities. I'm the owner of everything on that page and it needs to be removed. I've identified myself clearly.I'm will be filing serious litigation against WordPress if they don't remove the page, for privacy violations, Copyright and Intellectual Property infringement, among various damages. However, if I have to go court, that's going to be an extremely serious problem, as I've certain life issues that make that doubly inconvenient.Just remove the page now. I'm not going through more back and forth with your company, not through email or this site. I've other real life issues to deal with other than this nonsense.I've proven who I am and I own all the images and information on that page. It's my business. It's my IP, including my name and personal information. Do not push the issue further.I'm also asking the BBB to contact me directly for information and to step in if necessary.Thank you.Business Response
