I am filing this complaint against TruthFinder due to their failure to honor a suppression request regarding my personal information.I submitted a request through the appropriate channels to have my personal information suppressed from their website. I also followed up with emails to their support team to ensure the request was being processed. Despite my efforts, and despite their acknowledgment of the request, my information has not been removed or suppressed from public view.This lack of follow-through is not only frustrating but also concerning from a privacy standpoint. I believe I have taken all reasonable steps to address the issue directly with TruthFinder, but to date, there has been no meaningful resolution.I am requesting that TruthFinder fully remove or suppress my personal information from their website and confirm in writing that this has been done.Business Response

This issue start April 3rd. It involves other businesses that work together in order to steal money and does bait and switch. I went to Radaris to get a person's information. When I was sent to Truthfinder and paid there feet and was unable to get the report as they claimed they didn't have it. Then I told them about radaris sending me I was then told they no longer associated with them. I've tried to cancel and told them they was a scammer. 4 OTHER PEOPLE DID THE EXACT SAMETHING I DID AND WAS DONE THE EXACT SAME WAY ON MULTIPLE DIFFERENT PROFILES. TRUTHFINDER IS STILL trying to collect *****april 9th,April *****th & the 18th. After I canceled. THEN to be told they don't guarantee there service that they can't control what is seen and unseen. I paid for a service they showed me they had then it doesn't show unless you pay more to try another part of the service that's to be included already. You can pay even more for them to investigate what they showed you and disabled the report.Business Response

I would like my deceased parents' and my husband's personal information removed from truthfinder. I am the executor of my parents' estate and I'm following through with handling their personal matters. As per my husband's request, I am also assisting him with removing his info from online. The removal of such info from all other companies, similar to truthfinder, is not this difficult. I am having to jump through hoops to remove this info, which ultimately also links my name as well, exploiting my own personal info, which I try very hard to keep off the web. I should not have to submit more personal info, like my driver's license, to have this info removed. I should be able to speak with someone on the phone about personal info, but this is not an option. They did not have to jump through this many hoops to obtain and post my personal info, why am I having to jump through hoops to have it removed. This is unacceptable to me. I was able to finally speak with a *** that did help me remove info from their database...at least this was my understanding. I'm not sure if the info is just suppressed or removed. Suppression is not what I requested nor am I okay with. These companies that take people's information and put them publically online for anyone to see is unethical IMO. There is not only info that is incorrect, so it can be misleading, and I/We did not give them my/our permission to have our info. This kind of activity should be stopped all together. They had info on my deceased parents out there. This is dangerous firstly because they are no longer living to protect and monitor their public info. They also had false income info on my husband out there. This is also dangerous and fraud since it is false info. With so many breaches occurring in this day and so many ways for people to obtain personal info online causing harm to others, this activity, once again should be halted. It puts many people at risk in this day and age. It is unacceptable. Therefore, I am not accepting their response, and if they did not completely remove this personal, incorrect info, I would like them to do so. I, once again, am not okay with it being only suppressed. I work hard and pay money to have my personal info off the web and they counter it and for what good reason? I have not checked the records as of yet, but I will to determine removal.

2025 DBA "PEOPLECONNECT' ********* miner and reseller of people's private lives and details of property and personal identifying information should at least get it right instead of publishing misleading and false information. It provides stalkers with all the information they need to invade lives with destruction and is why I PAY a hefty annual subscription to a privacy company to keep my information out of the hands of people who don't respect TRUTH or Privacy. I was forced to give ************* all my identifying current information to opt out of their theft of my personal information. This company is responsible for *************************** and many other data miners who will not honor removal request from the company I pay to protect my privacy. So they have me listed under all their sites, littered with incorrect information, associate names I've never known or heard of and could be very shady people for all I know and lists all my other personal information. They forced me to give them all my current information under their OPT OUT requirements only to see it reappear strewn about the internet on all their other shady sites. There are absolutely no public records connecting me to anyone living yet they have no problem fabricating fictitious names with links to individuals never heard of with generic profiles all linked to my name. I have made all the proper requests to my Privacy Manager only to be denied and forced to deal with TruthFinders and their equally shady co-conspiritors. Again, providing all information to complete opt out only for them to relist it. It's all a game to gather your information and profit off of your privacy violations. I recently visited their website to access publicly available information and was led through a lengthy, multi-step process that took approximately 15 to 25 minutes of my time.Throughout the process, the website collected personally identifiable information (PII) about both the individual I was searching for and myselfwithout clearly disclosing that a fee would ultimately be required to access the results. Only after the extensive process was completed did the site reveal that payment was necessary, despite implying that access to public records was free or at least viewable after providing the requested information.This kind of bait-and-switch tactic is not only misleading but also highly unethical, particularly given the sensitive nature of the information collected. As a ***************************** Security Professional (CISSP), I find TruthFinders conduct especially concerning. It violates foundational principles of information security such as transparency, informed consent, and data minimization. The collection of personal data under misleading pretenses raises serious privacy and ethical red ******** is troubling that such a business currently holds an A rating from the Better Business Bureau. While I appreciate the companys acknowledgment, their response fails to address the core concerns I raised and instead deflects with generalized assurances.
1. Deceptive User Flow
********************** claims their preview sequence shows what may appear in the report. In practice, users are led through a prolonged, gamified process implying free accessrequiring repeated confirmationswithout disclosing upfront that a fee is mandatory. Calling this user-friendly ignores that its a textbook bait-and-switch. A transparent service would clearly state, before collecting data or time: You will need to pay to see any results.
2. PII Collection Without Informed Consent
TruthFinder says they dont retain user inputs. That sidesteps the real issue: they collect and process personal data (e.g., name, location, browser/device info, email) without clear upfront consent. Referencing a privacy policy is not a substitute for transparency or affirmative user agreement.
3. Ethical Concerns and Misleading UX
The complaint is not about durationits about misleading prompts, anxiety cues, and a false sense of discovery that ends with a paywall. Time is extracted under false pretenses. Ethical data practicesespecially in industries using APIsdemand faster, more transparent delivery. Their approach violates ethical UX standards and betrays user trust.

*** Ketchs right to delete request is specific to the ********* that ********************** collects and maintains about its users, such as information users provide to us when they interact with the website or create an account, information regarding user interactions with our website and customer care channels, and traffic data, which includes IP addresses, browser types, and the pages users visit while using our site.
If *** ***** is registered as a customer with that email address, they will receive an email instructing them to log in to complete their request. The action is taken to protect the account, as deleting ********* will result in account deletion and the cancellation of all associated subscriptions. If ********* exists for the provided email address and it is not linked to a customer account, an email will be sent containing a link for identity authentication. Upon authentication, an email will be sent to confirm the completion once processed. If ********* for the provided email address is unavailable, an email confirmation will be sent to them. We will still retain member information as required to fight fraud, enforce our billing agreements, use as evidence in legal matters, in system backups, or otherwise where necessary and legally permitted.
Please note that this right to delete ********* does not extend to the publicly available information that ******** gathers for producing reports available on the website. Thank you for the update. TruthFinders latest response once again fails to address my original complaint and instead misrepresents it as a request for account deletion or data removal, which it was not.
To clarify:
My complaint is about deceptive and unethical user experience practices, not a request under data privacy law. At no point did I request account deletion. Their reply is not only off-topic, but also further evidence of the companys inability or unwillingness to acknowledge consumer concerns.
They continue to ignore the core issues, including:
- Lack of early-stage fee disclosure, despite leading users through a lengthy process that strongly implies a free service.
- Collection of personally identifiable information (PII) under misleading pretenses, without informed consent, and hidden behind legal fine print.
- A manipulative, emotionally-charged user flow designed to extract time and data before suddenly introducing a paywall.
This response from TruthFinder is not only evasiveit is completely unresponsive to the original concerns regarding transparency, ethics, and misleading business practices. As a CISSP, I stand by my assessment that their conduct is inconsistent with standards of ethical design and data privacy best practices.
I do not consider this complaint resolved, and I again request that the BBB reevaluate their rating of this company accordingly.
