They asked for login and password to checking account, several amounts of 490 and 970 and 980 we're deposited into my account. I was instructed to send to my cash app and purchase Bitcoin. Transfer Bitcoin to some address. I followed their instructions they were saying they were building up my credit. I am going to contact my credit union in the morning and tell them I think I've been a victim of fraud. This was for a 10K loan.Business Response

So i was looking for a loan to pay bills and car repair. I got a message from Light Stream out of **********. So on Monday Oct 21st I started process. ***** the owner of company contacted me. Now I researched this company thru BBB and Nerd Wallet. And it had huge ratings. Been in business 27 years. So he deposited 991. Into my back account. I should of seen red flags due to him needing credentials on bank. So then he asked me to send back to verify my account. So I downloaded cash app then sent it back. So they sent me another check to be deposited for 1597. But my bank caught it because it was over 1500. So I had to close my bank account and debit card. Plus I have to pay back ****** cause check came back fraud. He called me today about 1p and I told him what happened and still continued to say we still good. I would really want the money back cause I was trying to help my family. I have to make a payment plan to pay back the ****** that this corrupt man and company did to me. I live paycheck to paycheck every week. This hurts real bad.Business Response

Light Stream Finance approved a loan of. $10,000 and sent $3,500 to my bank and asked me to buy gift cards to return the $3,500 to the lender for the cost of life insurance on the loan. I did as asked and returned the $3,500. To the lender in gift cards Then my bank sent back the $3,500 that the lender sent to me So the lender sent me $3,500 and got that money back. Then ******** returned their $3,500 and caused my bank account to be overdrawn The lender called me and said he was sending me the $3,500 back and then he would send the $10,000 loan. Fifteen minutes later, the lender manager would not answer my phone calls My $3,500 was stolen. I never got the loan after having been approved and had executed the loan agreement. Light Stream finance does not legally own the $3,500 and I want my money back I am 77 years old and have no money to live on because my account at ******** is overdrawn.Business Response

Light Stream does have a website. Anyone can apply for a loan. I applied for the loan and was notified that my application was approved. Because the application was approved, a loan officer from Light Stream called to discuss the loan and come to an agreement on monthly payment. Light Stream is being difficult because they know how they work within their website and how they respond to customers. ******************** can say whatever they want because they believe that customers are of no value if they file a complaint. I appreciate the BBB efforts completely.Initial Complaint

This loan inquiry company does not state anywhere that to see if you qualify for a loan or any possible terms, APRs etc., create a HARD inquiry. All other companies utilized a soft inquiry. The hard inquiry took an immediate 5 point drop to my credit score. There were no places in the application to add additional jobs (my husband is basically "freelance" in ********* and therefore has had 4 jobs this year, in addition to recent major surgery for myself that creates a discrepancy in my current YTD vs pay I received from benefited SDI for surgery). No one called us to review our information it was all automated resulting in inaccurate/ incomplete information. The decision to deny us a loan despite having had over an 800 credit score, an income of $140,000 a year, plus my husband's excellent credit score with a yearly income of almost ******* a year. Jointly, we only have one student loan, and one car debt is insane. Credit card "debt" is paid in full each month to gain CC points. The denial also did NOT come with any additional options for loans at lower amounts or what they COULD finance us for a loan. Just a flat no, no investigation or possible WAY to place additional job income and absolutely ZERO way to call the "company" or contact customer service. I want this false credit inquiry removed from my credit report.Business Response

When you submitted the application
with LightStream, there was a disclosure at the end of the application that the
applicant was required to acknowledge. This disclosure confirms the applicant
authorizes Truist to pull the credit history in order to make a credit
decision. In
regards to your credit score-related inquiries, please note that LightStream is
not a FICO score-driven company. When
an application is received, we review several different items, including the
credit profile, financials, debt-to-income ratio, payment history, remaining
loan balances, and income compared to the loan amount requested. We are unable to advice as to
whether or not you would be approved for a lower amount; however, you are
welcome to apply for a new loan for the lower amount. As long as you apply
within 30 days of the original loan, we will not pull your credit again. The application's "Do you have Other Annual Income?" portion is where you can include any additional income you may have.Customer Answer

As we stated in our application, the loan money was needed immediately to continue funding our surrogate journey. Since you were unable to provide us with any sort of loan and any sort of information on how to get our loan approved. We have secured Monday through someone else and I want that Removed. it does not stay clearly that it’s a hard inquiry. The business "claims" they have information during the application process stating it is a hard inquiry. This is false. My husband and I went through the online system next button, through next button and no where was it clearly stated that a hard inquiry would be performed.
On their DIRECT PAGE prior to filling out what appears as the preliminary application also does not state anything about a hard inquiry. In fact, you cannot get any information for their fertility loans WITHOUT filling out the application. In keeping with the businesses that operate in the same capacity, for the same reason- NONE of them take a hard inquiry until AFTER the offer has been extended and accepted. Which we did many prior to and after this application.
Their practice is NOT industry standard, and is not CLEAR, before, during or upon submitting the information.
