My credit was unlawfully ran for a loan through this company. It was fraud and it happened on Sept.25, 2023.I immediately froze all my credit and contacted LightStream to make sure they knew it wasn't me and file a dispute. I got a generic email response. I followed up a week later and was told it could take up to 30 days. I've emailed many times with no response. They do not have a phone number listed to contact them. I cannot use my credit, I cannot prove this was a fraduant transaction without their help. I need a response that allows me to move forward with the next steps to get it off my record and increase my credit score. This company wrongly and illegally checked and maybe even a loan was taken out in my name and they have not made one effort to help in almost 6 months. on 02-09-2024I was contacted about an online loan thru light stream, they took all my information including social security number, drivers licence banking account and routing number they required a 100$ transaction stating it was for insurance for the 1500$ loan. After recieving the 100$ payment they attempted to get me to send an additional 300$ i did not send.Now they have all my important information and my 100$.Business Response

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against LightStream, a division of Truist Bank, that has reported information about my account in what I believe to be a violation of my consumer rights as protected under Federal Consumer Law and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). I have had my personal information leaked by Experian in the past and have been a victim of fraud and identity theft. I am adamant about avoiding a repeated mishap. Despite numerous attempts to resolve this matter directly with LightStream, they have consistently failed to provide any legal justification or statutory grounds for their practice of reporting my personal financial transactions and experiences to third-party agencies without my consent. LightStream's actions, which include the dissemination of information regarding my credit obligations without clear and lawful disclosure, not only breach the privacy and consumer protection standards set forth by 15 U.S. Code ****, but also demonstrate a disregard for the foundational principles of the ***** which mandates accuracy, fairness, and privacy in the collection, dissemination, and use of consumer information.Each day that this reporting continues, LightStream and the involved CRAs exhibit compliance towards practices that I believe to be illegal, further infringing upon my rights and jeopardizing my financial reputation. LightStream's response to my concerns and demands for legal clarification has been wholly unsatisfactory, reflecting a decision to sidestep legal obligations in favor of illicit reporting practices.This complaint seeks to prompt a thorough investigation into the actions of LightStream mandate the correction of all inaccuracies in my consumer report resulting from these disputed reporting practices and ensure the removal of any information reported from Lightstream and in question.Business Response

I thought I was getting a loan like I have always done previously however this company was different. First the keep calling until finally I gave in and so ok I went through the process of completing the loan. My account was negative so the companys brought it current and deposit a total of three payments ***** and then they asked me to removed the money in act of good faith cash app the company so I thought which was a big lie. Not only did they go in and dispute charges that equal the total amount they fake deposit they took back. I am a single parent and cant afford this big lost of ****. The advertised APR rate estimate was absolutely misleading in order to receive an application. Because of the advertised rates, I completed an application and received a much much higher APR, affecting my credit score and nowhere near close to be a desirable loan. This is misleading consumers and should not be allowed.Business Response

I was contacted by lightstream Financial telling me that they approved my loan application for $5,000. I filled out so many loan applications I could not confirm or deny if I filled one out for them. I did look up the company and found out that they were part of truest Bank out of ********** and ******** and that it was a legit facility. When speaking to the representative he began asking me extremely personal questions that did not make sense. He asked me for my birthday my social security number my bank routing number my bank account number and my online banking login user ID and password. He then proceeded to deposit $287 into my account he claims for good faith and then told me that I had to go to ********* get a Target gift card and return the money back to him via the gift card which I did and spoke to a different woman. I asked if they were in ***************** and they said yes. When I looked up the information I found out that they were in cobalta ***** and not in fact in *****************. I got the real number for lightstream and found out that it was a scam someone pretending to be lightstream for *****. Light stream assured me that they would never asked for any of my personal information especially my bank information as they do not need that information and they would not do anything without a hard copy application which I did not receive from this company. I tried to call them back and I got no answer repeatedly calling and calling with no answer. So my credit cards are locked with a **** alert and a freeze on them and I changed my user ID and password and now I'm going to call my bank and let them know be on alert for this company trying to access my bank account. This company is a scam and needs to shut down and I am reporting them to the ************************ via the identitytheft.org website.Business Response

I had obtained a loan from this company about 6 years ago. I have tried to login to my account on their website but it tells me my information is incorrect, which I know it is not. The company (Lightstream) does not have a phone number. I have emailed them over 8 times and they just keep saying to call the phone number provided **************. This number is not associated with them. Each time I call the number I get a different message: 1. I have won a gift card. 2. If I am a diabetic I can receive a free pump. 3. It doesn't work at all.I also saw at the bottom of the emails they sent me that they are also affiliated with Truist Bank. So I tried to call them and it says that the number is not longer in service. I do not know what to do. I am worried that I have already fulfilled my obligation but do not want to stop payment to them and then they send me to a collection agency. Timeline:We opened a SunTrust/Truist Bank account at the Marketplace branch in ********, ******* in November 2014. We moved to *******, ******* in November 2020; we kept the Truist account before discovered there were no Truist branches in *******, so we continued banking with Truist online. The account automatically paid a mortgage for a property in ******* and took in rental property deposits. Truist Fraud notified us that someone was attempting to use my wifes credit card one years into our residence in *******, the charge was not ours and was denied. About a year later, we contacted the Truist **************** to report a charge of $10.18 on my wifes account for Spotify, we had to lookup the company, as senior citizens we did not recognize the company, its products or services. We requested the charge be removed and the credit card account be discontinued. The fraudulent charges were never completely removed. The account was "frozen" and not discontinued or closed. Our online account was frozen with nearest Truist bank over **** miles from our house. No in-person appearance was possible. We planned to close all Truist accounts. Please refund the $42.00 payment we made to Life Stream acct ****, as the ********************** **************** never handled the fraudulent charges to my wifes account.The complaint:We were notified on December 5th that a delinquent account was posted to TransUnion, a credit reporting agency, which decreased my wifes credit score by 77 points. The account is a ********************** delinquency account reported on December 22nd. The account is for $42 with $10.15 past due. We paid Life Stream $42 to clear acct **** fraudulent charges.Resolution: Remove the fraudulent charges on the account, which we reported numerous times, and notify TransUnion of the mistake. Refund the $42.00 payment we made to Life Stream acct ****, as the ********************** **************** never handled the fraudulent charges to my wifes account.Business Response
