I applied online for a loan for $2000. Later that evening I received a call from someone named '***************'. This person was very friendly and eager to help me. The next day he called me back saying that he couldn't give me the $2000 loan BUT.....if I had been a returning customer who had paid off a previous loan, there would be no problem in getting the 2 grand. He said he had an idea, and if he could trust me. I said ' of course". Great. He said he would deposit $1000 into my bank account, once I received it I would immediately pay it back. *****, I'm now a returning customer who has paid off her loan. He deposited $970 into my savings, which I thought was weird, but whatever. I then transfer the money into my checking. Then he tells me to go to ******* and buy 2 **** cash cards; 1 for $500, the other for $470. There's no ******* close to me, but there's a Target store. There aren't any **** cards with that high dollar amount. So he tells me to send him pictures of all the gift cards via text, and so I did. There was nothing at Target that over $50. There was a *****'s store right next door that had gift cards....high dollar gift cards. So he decided that *********'s cards would do. 1 for 500, the other for 470. I paid for them with the money he had put into my account. Then he asked for me to send him pictures of the receipt and the back of the cards with the numbers that I had scratched off. Still, like a gullible idiot I think nothing of it. Half hour after I got back home, my bank calls me and tells me that the check for the $988 was returned for being fraudulent. And since I withdrew the money I was liable for it. I called "****" immediately demanding my money back, and of course he assured me that my account would be positive by the end of the day, and I told him it was too late because the account had been closed. I'm on a fixed income, and while this was MY own fault for being so stupid, he seemed like he really wanted to help me. I needed that money to get a new apartment, and to hire movers. What I got was almost $1000, half of my monthly pension taken from me. Now I'm basically homeless living in a c*** hotel that I can't pay for anymore.

Light stream loans per a reputable bank scamming. Upon applying for a loan I am called and asked for security passwords red flag. Without consent as I stated hold on Im looking up something first. They deposit a large amount into my account and then ask me to cash app it back giving me a persons cash tag. Now verification amounts are usually a dollar or change this was insane. Something needs to be done to stop them from ruining peoples lives.

This company has fraudulently opened or attempted to open a loan in my name! This is not new look at all the complaints for the exact same thing below. This is a crime. These are scammers nothing more! They should be accountability for illegally accessing someones credit report without their permission. I dont know who these people are.

I received a letter from LightStream stating I had been denied credit. I have never applied for credit with LightStream nor Truist. I sent an email requesting more information as to the credit request to see if my identity had been stolen. While they did promptly answer, they essentially did not answer my request. They did not provide any detail concerning the credit request other than it was made. I am left to wonder if my identity has been stolen and if the letters from LightStream are a scam. Neither letter lists a person to contact and my address notes ** vs **.

On October 16, 2023, Light Stream obtained my credit report for some unknown reason and caused a hard inquiry to be put on my credit report.I did not apply for anything with this business, at all. They have no applications of anything showing that I requested this action. It just all of a sudden appeared on my report. They have no info as to why and suggested I file a dispute and so on to have it removed within 30 days. Funny, how it didn't take 30 days for them to put it on my report. I would like this inquiry to be removed from my credit report asap; not 30 days as they have/had no permission to it on there. Thank you

This business is trying to pass this off as fraud when it is not. I believe they were looking for new customers when they accessed my report.  I have 2 credit monitoring services and they would have mentioned that this is fraud or, Light Stream would have had some sort of paperwork (an application requesting the service) to do so whether it was so called fraud or not.  The gentleman I spoke with yesterday said they did not have any paperwork at all to back up this inquiry.

    Thank you.

LightStream is a paperless company, and all applications are submitted online. When submitting an application with LightStream, there is a disclosure at the end of the application that each applicant is required to acknowledge. By selecting the "Accept and Submit" button, the individual applying authorizes LightStream to obtain a consumer report to be used in the evaluation of their application. This disclosure confirms that the individual applying authorizes LightStream to pull the credit history in order to make a credit decision.
