I want to file a complaint against Cash App for not have money sender/ buyer protection for money transfer since this app is used to make purchases. They allowed for scam artist to open an account with cartoon character names without back ground check or Confirmation. On Dec 27, 2022 as I was trying to buy an iPad on Offer up app. This person asked me to to go to a disclosed address and asked me to send money first which I did so he can have a family member bring out iPad. I sent money $200 via Cash App to a Chip Skylark. Once I did, he blocked me from purchase. No one came Out after waiting 30m. I knocked on door and little old **** stepped out saying this individual has had about 6-7 people arrive about IPad to her address and she has no clue about it. I filed a dispute with Cash App and they are refusing to assist with a refund stating its my fault for sending money. My bank did do a temporary credit but was reversed also yesterday 02/21/23. So now Im out on $200 and an Ipad. Cash app needs to create a deep background check when opening an account. To many scam artist use this app since they know Cash app does not have money sender protection like PayPal or Venmo or Zelle.Business Response

I paid for a purchase via cash app which the purchase was not delivered so I requested a refund from the merchant and tried to reach out to no avail so I contacted cash app support who basically told me they condone scams ( I didn't know at the time that's what it was ) and wouldn't/didn't even try to help or refund my money !Business Response

hey entice consumers customize their card but when you do they change all of your account information without permission or consent before the card is even shipped. Then when its lost in the mail requires you to report your cards lost or stolen. No way to report just the one lost in the mail. So you dont have a actual card to use until the new one arrives. All of which you literally pay to have all of your finances put on hold for nothing. **************** and its managers refuse to fix anything even admitted that they have committed the crime of fraud. As well as false advertising and dont even care about your financial distress or problems this causes. Also refuse to help with Apple Pay as well as they say they cant see the issue. They will not refer me any higher or to the institution that will actually resolve the issue.Business Response

My Cash App account was hacked on 11/27/2022, I got a call from my bank that there was a $1000 charge, they left me a message as I didn't have my phone on me at that exact moment, so when I got the message, I checked my Cash App and this person deposited $1000 to my account because I had a linked debit card and bought $1000 worth of Bitcoin with it. You can buy Bitcoin on Cash App, called my bank right away to cancel my card and then tried to file a dispute with Cash App, they said they wouldn't be able to help me because the hacker left $1.17 left of Bitcoin and I cashed it out so I have to dispute with my bank. So I filed a dispute with my bank and they determined it was fraudulent because it was so they gave me my money back on 12/15/2022. On 2/17/2023 Cash App sent me a text and an email saying that my account has a negative balance, I was so confused so I checked my account to see what was going on thinking I got hacked again and it said -$1000 I got freaked out and checked the transaction history, well Cash App tried to charge my old linked card $1000 but it "failed" because it has been canceled, I tried to contact them right away and they said because I disputed with my bank, they reversed the charge. They are ****** that my bank took $1000 from them to pay me back, and now they want the $1000 back.Business Response

I made a purchase via cash app for a storage building and after making payment found out within 24 hr it was a lady using her friends cash app account and it was a scam. I filed police report, contacted my bank and cash app within 24 hrs. Tried to cancel payment and was told I had to wait until payment posted before I could dispute it. The lady was arrested and felony filed. Cash app tells me to contact my bank and my bank tells me to contact cash app that refund request is still pending. Cash app information states the refunds for scam is returned within 10 days. It has been over 3 weeks.Customer Answer

05/16/22: Sent $750.00 via Cash App to nephew. He never received it. 05/16/22 - 05/26/22: Spent several days seeking help from Cash App Customer support. They said their system showed the transaction was "Complete", offered no further assistance, and closed the transaction. 05/27/22: Sent letter to requesting a $750 refund to Square, Inc. per the Cash App website instructions. 10/07/22: After not hearing back from them, my attorney sent Cash App/Square, *** a letter requesting a $750 refund. (Attorney - *****************************************************, *****************, ******************************************************************, 213-622-5124)11/17/22: Cash App's response was they fulfilled my request and to request reimbursement from the recipient - my nephew. (Note - My attorney is not pursuing this matter, there is not court action pending). Comment: Cash App can show they received $750 but they can't show proof that the $750 was 'disbursed' or 'withdrawn' from their system so it's sitting in THEIR system. On the recipient's (my nephew) end, there was never any CASH APP links or prompts to enable him to even access, much less withdraw the funds.I am requesting a refund of my $750 that was never received by the intended recipient.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:The issue i have is with SUPPORT telling me there was NO REFUND issued when i had a SCREENSHOT of it saying a refund would be issued and when i spoke to support via email and phone they said there was NO REFUND and the refund came the very next day ..My issue is with being told by cashapp there was no refund and there's nothing they can do for me WHEN THE MERCHANT refunded it and i TOLD cashapp and sent a screenshot of the Dispute showing it was refunded and THAT is why it was closed not because anyone at cashapp did their jobs because had they they would have told me YES the dispute was closed because a refund was issued but that was to hard apparently
