******************* used TriNet as a *** provider during 2022, at this time we employed one person in the State of OR. TriNet as the *** is responsible for the wage reporting and taxes quarterly. They filed the reports for ************************************************************************************ is going after the employees at our organization. We terminated our contract with TriNet as of 12/31/2023. I submitted several cases and requested a follow up from them. Case #s ******** and ******** are the 2 most recent. I started this process in March of this year and still have not had the penalties paid for. They still have access to the OR tax account and paid the filing but not the fees for doing it late. We are requesting that TriNet, pay the fees due to their negligence in filing late. We also request that until the pay this fee, they reach out to the State of OR, *** and remove *******************, *** **** and ***** **** from any responsibility as they are only employees of the company and we were underneath TriNet during this time. Every day the amount increases due to interest and fees. I have reached out to my form rep ***** and also my HR contact ****** and no one has gotten back to us to resolve this to completion. As you can see by the attachments, they are now threatening to withhold from Federal Tax returns because of this issue.Business Response

We were an employer who used TriNet as a PEO for 5 years. At the termination of our relationship, TriNet debited our account for Oregon State taxes per normal protocol. However, they never remitted the taxes to the state of ******. It took 18 months (after our business paid the state of ******) for TriNet to reimbursed the taxes debited but never paid. Further, they did not fulfill their obligation to final employment reports to the State of CA. The state of CA sent notices of unpaid taxes and notifications of garnishment to TriNet; none of which were passed along to our business. Now the State of CA had garnished our account incorrectly due to the lack of filing by TriNet. TriNet did not fulfill its contractual obligations through the termination of the relationship.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because you are not resolving this matter. Again, you didn't follow through with the terms of the agreement. Furthermore you received many notices from the State of CA regarding the filing and made no efforts to send them along.

We have been a customer of ********************** Zenefits payroll platform for about 2 years. We have a full service subscription, however, Trinet continuously pays my payroll taxes late and makes errors on my filings, resulting in penalties and interest from tax authorities (City of ********, *******************************, ******************************************). When submitting support tickets to Trinet, the tickets are closed without proper contact with me or resolution. I need Trinet to remit my taxes or pay me back so I may remit them. Trinet is also responsible for the penalties and interest accrued due to their errors.Business Response

I accepted a job with **************** on April 7. On April 18 I was fired for no reason. I had elected to have $600 deducted for an FSA account administered by Trinet. Trinet deducted the $600 on April 30...12 days AFTER I was fired. After improperly taking $600 from a 62-year old senior, they then said I could only use the money they took for medical claims during the 3 week period from April 7 to April 30...even though I was fired on April 18. I tried to appeal but their appeal process in inproper as they make their own appeals decisions. They essentially stole $600 from me after I was fired and said they are keeping it.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: You did not email or call me. I made my complaint on this stie. How about you address the complaint on this site as well? You took money from me improperly after I was fired. Your team has refused to fix this and will not address my complaint...and apparently neither will you. How do you feel that it's appropriate to take money from me after I was fired for benefits that I can't use? Not only did I lose my income but I also had money taken from me 12 days after being fired by Trinet. This is inappropriate. I want my money back. Answer the complaint on this site so everyone will be able to see.

We received a suspicious email request from TriNet on 7/22/25 stating that our payroll withdrawal was above the target threshold and we therefore needed to wire transfer the funds. We called customer service twice to verify that this was a legitimate request, and they were able to confirm. It also showed up on our TriNet online account. However, during that process, one of the numbers I called included an automated message asking me to provide either my SSN# or my debit account #. I contacted ******************** support about this issue as well. They emailed me saying that they had investigated internally, saying: "Upon further checking, the number provided by the support bot was the Flex benefits line which is why they are asking for that information. In addition, the information they are asking is your flex benefits card and the last 4 digits of your social but not your debit card. Please note that TriNet support will never ask or request sensitive, or full confidential information just to verify your identity and your account into our system." - but that is definitively not what happened when I called. The phone # I called is **************. I'm concerned that TriNet has been cyber-attacked.Business Response

TriNet has proactively engaged with this customer to address her their concerns since July 23, which was the same date they filed this complaint. There are currently no outstanding issues.
The email and platform communications referenced in the complaint were accurately sent or displayed in accordance with the clients requirement to fund their account for payroll purposes. The claimant was inadvertently routed by a digital assistant to a support number designated for flexible benefits inquiries for employees of *** clients. This number connects callers to a third-party administrator responsible for managing and administering those benefits and may require personal information to address account-specific questions. It is important to clarify that this is not a TriNet phone number, nor does the situation involve any TriNet cybersecurity incident.
TriNet support will never ask for complete social security numbers. We are currently reviewing our communication protocols to ensure that employees of *** clients are consistently directed to the appropriate support resources.Customer Answer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference tocomplaint ID ******** and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.I find it problematic that their chatbot directs individuals with a payroll question to an FSA number "not administered by" TriNet that asks the caller to input their full social security number and a debit card number, but my original question has been resolved.

Trinet failed to verify my company's Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) which resulted payroll tax payment discrepancies. As stated in Paragraph 6 of the **************** *** to MSA document, Trinet had a duty to test and verify our FEIN for accuracy during the "Qualification" process as part of the implementation of full-service payroll. Additionally, the presence of two different FEIN numbers associated with our account should have raised an immediate flag for the "full-service" payroll team during the "Qualification" process. It is our position that Trinet should have at the very least reported the failure of our payroll tax payments to transmit to the *** after the first unsuccessful attempt. Instead, our company remained unaware of this issue until our accounting team discovered the discrepancy due to an incorrect 941 report generated and submitted to the *** by Trinet. By the time we identified the problem, Trinet's partner bank was holding $132,906.34 in unpaid tax payments. The fact that no one at Trinet contacted us to address the issue for three monthsapproximately 12 failed transmissions to the *************** a fundamental failure in providing the payroll services that we contracted for.Trinets lack of due diligence and failure to notify us in a timely manner has resulted in our company paying *** penalties. Trinet has not provided any resolution other than it is our fault, even though they knew or should have known of the discrepancy the first time the payroll tax deposit did not go through to the ***.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
Trinet's response was not acceptable. They stated that the there was a typo in the **** number on our side and that caused the issue. When asked for an accounting as to how they could continue to submit deposits to the *** that were rejected and never tell us, to the point that they were holding $130,000.00 in unpaid IRS payments, they simply did not respond. We asked for proof that they actually tried to submit the taxes, they did not provide any. As you can see in the attached email string, we asked for an investigation and were just told Trinet was not going to reimburse us for our tax penalties related to their not submitting our payroll taxes.
Sincerely,

Direct Deposit is paid via Trinet Zenefits, They have deducted from payroll and are giving a vague payment will be made by end of day which depending on the bank could mean my paycheck has been delayed until Monday. This is endangering my living situation and putting me at risk of being homeless by not being able to pay the hotel im living out of to work the new job i just moved to. I should either have my paycheck deposited today as was owed to me or some reimbursement for the additional living expenses incurred by Trinets failure to pay on time.Business Response

Our company used to be a Trinet company. I was employed at my company until June 2024 and we had a 401k with Trinet. As a PEO, Trinet is responsible for all HR information. Upon my termination, all the information was updated on the Trinet side but they use a third party provider for the 401k. Trinet is responsible for the communication with their third-party vendors and everything is branded Trinet. I cannot deal with ******* directly. Trinet did not communication my change of status and address to Empower, the third-party vendor running the 401k. One of the employees at Trinet told me that it happens from time to time. Empower thinks I am still working at my past employer and still does not have my new ***********, I want to make a rollover of the money in the 401k and I cannot. Trinet is asking me to fill out a paper with a wet signature and have it notarized. This would mean incurring fees of $200-300 for me to fix a mistake they made. I seek full correction of the mistake. Trinet needs to take responsibility and communicate the change in status and address to Empower. They are holding my money hostage and I need to situation fixed.Business Response

I pay a substantial amount of money to participate in a *** plan. However, I cannot access the funds because the card provided to me by the TriNet FSA vendor never works. I've issued multiple complaints and have been issued multiple cards, and each works for only a limited amount of time. As a consequence, my pre-tax dollars, that are supposed to be earmarked for healthcare payments, go unspent. I lose my hard-earned money. This process is not working as the government intended. Neither TriNet, nor the administrator of its FSA plan have been responsive to my multiple complaints. I would like TriNet and its FSA vendor to take accountability for its poor management and the resulting financial impact on its members.Business Response
