I have received unwanted, political attack texts from this group and never gave them my number nor permission to text me. Grabbing numbers from wherever they get them from and texting people hate-filled views shows this groups complete lack of ethics.Business response

I received a text today from "****, a MoveOn volunteer" from ************. I have NEVER signed a petition, given my personal information, or requested texts or communications. I find this practice of sending texts such as the one I received for political purposes unsolicited are problematic at best, and fraudulent at worst.I am requesting that I am FOREVER removed from any communication from MoveOn I am also requesting that I am sent what personal information data they have about me. The ********** Consumer Privacy Act states that I have the right to know what information they have gathered about me, and how they are using it. It also states I have the right to have this information deleted. I am requesting both of those pieces - that you send me information you have gathered about me (that led to this text) and that you immediately delete this data.Business response

MoveOn.org is spamming people with blatant lies. I did not give them permission to text me and when I questioned them about their false claims they simply blocked my number. This is incredibly dangerous and they are intentionally misleading in order to deceive the public.Business response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference tocomplaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.only because what should happen is they send a message out to everyone that received the first message apologizing for lying to them and clarifying the truth, but that is unlikely to happen because they do not care that they are misleading the public. Their goal is to win at all costs. People and organizations Like them are the problem. They are whats wrong in the world.
Sincerely,

I had originally signed up for a monthly donation of $5.00 per month. Instead the organization charged me twice each month. I contacted move.on via email and told them to stop charging me twice a month. I received a response that the4y would contact me in 48 hour's-they never contacted me any further. So I disputed the double charge with my bank and teh bank credited me for the extra charge. Teh next month and for ***** July, August, and September, they continue to charge me twice a month. I sent them an email again and told them I CANCELLED my monthly donation back in July. They continue to charge me twice a month and have NEVER stopped my cancellation. This is theft. On June 8, 2022 I cancelled my subscription and told the company I cancelled and do not charge my account any further. I do have copies of the emails if necessary.Business response

My complaint isn't about anything monetary. This complaint is about the constant texting I get from them. I have never heard of this company before and I am not sure how they obtained my contact information. The amount of spam I am getting from them is disturbing my daily life at this point. I keep being told I'm going to be removed from the list but it never happens. I shouldn't even be on their lost to begin with.Business response

I have gladly donated to Move On in the past. However, when I closed a credit card account that was not used during the pandemic, I found Move On has been charging a monthly "donation" of $21.73 since 7 October 2020. This totals $738.82. Why didn't I notice it? Because it was a pandemic and this card was on a separate account only used for travel and a rental- we did not travel until recently and the rental was unoccupied during the pandemic. Since it is on autopay it went unnoticed until we resumed travel. I am retired and live on a small monthly pension, I NEVER sign up for repeated donations because I simply cannot afford it. However, I do know in campaigns that every little bit helps as I have worked on many, so I donate what I can. But I honestly cannot afford this and did not sign up for repeated payments.I want Moveon.org to refund $700 and an apology. I removed myself from their mailing list after a couple of attempts.I know this repeating payment tactic is a real problem with many campaigns as this is NOT the first time it has happened to me. In fact, it has occurred 4 times with other campaigns, but I discovered the others quickly and stopped payments. This one, however, got me. I will say I am very disappointed in MOVEON. I did not expect this from them. It's difficult to believe this is just a "oops" on their part.Business response

Dear Better Business Bureau,I'm filing a complaint for a number of reasons:- I've reached out to MoveOn's customer service a few times via phone with no follow up on their part.- The issue I'm complaining about seems to be a recurring pattern with MoveOn.The problem:I donated $20 through MoveOn on 9/21/2000. I wasn't informed that a recurring donation was put in place, and I would never have authorized it. My husband, who handles our credit card bills, only recently noticed that we had been charged $21.73 for 22 months!! since 9/21/2020, for a total of $478.06. Again, this recurring charge was NOT authorized.Proposed resolution:We often support causes via MoveOn, though not all. In any case, we'd like your help to process a partial refund. At best, we might have donated $150 over those 23 months (as much as $75/year), so while we'd prefer a full refund, we are willing to approve that amount, which would leave a refund of $478.06 - $150 = $328.06.Thank you for your help,****Business response

On May 4, I received an email message from moveon.org asking for a $3 donation. Although, I am unemployed I clicked on the link to donate. I was directed to a page that listed 3 or 4 donation amounts to give - which were much higher than $3 with the last two selections being "$1,000" and "Other." I selected "Other," however, $1,000 popped up. A "cancel" selection was not available and I backed out of the link AND DID NOT select pay or confirm. On the same day, ACTBLUE, a 3rd party vendor for moveon.org per a moveon customer service rep, deducted $750 and $250 from my account. Apparently, my account information was stored with the moveon organization because I did not enter banking account data when I was directed to the link AND the moveon service rep only asked for my last name and zip code to identify me when I called to request a refund. The moveon.org rep stated they were not able to help me get a refund. When calling the ACTBLUE phone number that showed on my account from the deduction, there was no answer and I have not received a reply to an email the voicemail message directed me to for complaints. I have also sent email messages to move-on. While I have responded to MoveOn's requests for donations in the past, I have never given a large donation because I cannot afford to. I should be eligible for an immediate refund of the $1,000 back in to my account for the following reasons:I 1) the text request was for $3 but $3 was not a selection option on the link sent by moveon.org. This seems akin to bait and switch 2) when a $1,000 donation appeared on my screen, there was not an option to "cancel" or "change" the amount. My only option was to back out of the link AND NOT confirm the payment. A payment was deducted from my account anyway.3) I did not provide bank account info during the transaction. My information was apparently stored from previous donations.Customer response
