1 starIntact insurance has informed us that they will no longer provide insurance on our property. We have been with this company for decades with no claims filed. We were told that Intact denied us insurance b/c we live on a Gulf Is. with extremely low crime rate, and low incidence of fire or water damage. Intact has shown no customer loyalty, **** *********** Not good for an insurance company.Intact Insurance

1 starWe had multiple storms in brantford on Tuesday july 16. I was not seen until saturday from colton from ****** restoration (which intact hires specifically for claims in my area).
he took readings of apparent moisture where there was no damage and no insulation to hold it, as some walls are seperating walls from the furnace.I pointed out the window as the main source due to obvious visable evidence of the window not only having forced dirt through the inside/outside of the window, but also on the inside sill. He did not respond and moved outside for some photos, left and said ur covered dont worry. When marshal H. contacted me 3 days after, he became really reliant on telling me without specifically telling me that i was not going to be covered, he verbatim said "the writings on the wall", i would highly suggest you get this moving because it looks like ground water and would not entertain my evidence of overland water or discuss the obvious misreadings/assesment of coltons job.. He claimed to believe coltons determination of "seepage at the bottom of the window wall", indicating that it was ground water
This was further reiterated from marshal on friday when he denied my claim and gave no creedance to my evidence and logical explanation of the amount of water and damage ground water vs overland water, in that specific spot.
On my denial day, Marshal H. could not explain how to proceed or justify his descision on my claim (other than say i believe colton). Even when asked to do exploratative work that i would pay for, in determining the claim, he said thats not how it works.Intact Insurance

A Unit Claims Manager (UCM) has reviewed this claim, confirming that while it was denied at the onset, coverage was later afforded under overland water, as insured supplied evidence to show water was coming through from the window.
Claim was paid out and has been closed. The UCM called and left a message for the insured inquiring if he has any outstanding issues. A follow up email was sent after.Review fromBetty G

1 starIntact is *** ***** ********* ******* ** **** ***** **** continue to ignore when its their own mistake that needs to be fixed. They are ignoring my request to fix their own mistake.
Last year had a flood in my basement. Intact took three months to install flooring and quarter round. They then installed flooring not impervious to water in my basement. More recently, I had an other incident because of a collapsed drain and trap, still actually guessing if this is the cause, pipes drain and trap all replace on my tab ******* ********* ********* *** ******. I noticed my baseboards expanded and lumpy and knew i had to remove them regardless of Intact ignoring me. Once I started removing baseboards and drywall and found a large amount of mold growing on the drywall as well as behind the walls, in the wood and in the insulation. Last year when the floor and walls were damaged by water, intact replaced quarter rounds and left my walls wet. Drywall needed to be replaced. Instead, they were left wet and covered up. I have sent several emails and submitted complaints and included pictures of the damage and mold this has caused. There is so much more to the story. **** *** ******* I have since learned is that the company that is sent in by Intact to do repairs is also owned by Intact. ********* ** *** **** ******* They replaced my bedroom and laundry room floor with ugly cheap flooring. They didn’t give me a choice I was forced to choose from a small selection. Put in quarter rounds and paid the repair bill for $8000. A year prior to this flood, I had renovated my room myself. Floors, walls, wainscoting, baseboard, paint in a 20 x 16 foot room for roughly $2000. ********* *** **** ******** ***** **** **** ******** **** **** ** ***** ******** Their complaint webform does not work, you fill everything in and then nothing happens. They sent clean up crew to my house with dehumidifiers and then refused to pay them, so I was stuck with a $2000 bill. **** ** *********Intact Insurance

1 starwhere to start, my vehicle was stolen and my insurer was nothing but a migraine, problem after problem, Iets start they paid out the vehicle less then msrp (I have gap insurance), my issue and only this happens to me, I have tracer insurance so if vehicle is stolen I receive a credit at the dealer but to get this u need police report, proof of loss (theft) and proof of payment, so I obtained all these except proof of payment, which they lied first that they didn't have the cheque in an email but he also stated he sent me the cheque number and reference number which only reference was given (so this shows he lied about not having the cheque), the refuse multiple times to email me proof of payment and now I'm out 5 thousand dollars, which I am hoping to get back when I sue them, stay far away from this insurance companyReview fromJohn Patrick Z

A Unit Claims Manager has been in touch with the insured to discuss his concerns. We have experienced delays from the first legal representative as we have asked for forms to be submitted but nothing came in. Since the insured switched and now has a new lawyer, we have been getting responses, and allowed us to take a statement and assist with completing the OCF-1. The UCM and adjuster has been coordinating with the insured’s legal representative to follow up on the signed documents and hopefully we should get these in and start determining his entitlement to any benefits.Review fromMarieJosee B

1 starMy car was totalled march 8th and 2 months later, I'm still waiting on the payout to the finance company. To date, FOUR checks have been sent. Apparently they keep getting "lost in the mail". Meanwhile, I can't get another vehicle until my loan is cleared.Review fromAndrea G

1 starExtensive water damage in the basement. It's a leaky pipe. **** ***** ****** ***e there is RUST on the outside of a cast iron pipe and that goes under the "ROT" exclusion. Claim denied, no money for me. *******
Now turns out that the leak is dripping on the cast iron part, originates from faulty copper pipe. **** ** ************ because despite the MANY differences between rust and rot, one thing they have in common: copper does NEITHER! ** ***** *** **** **** ** **** Currently on phone to obtain emergency assistance. They are obviously dragging their feet. *******Intact Insurance

2 starsMan broke telephone pole in half & my mailbox. Intact would NOT put claim on him but wanted to put $200 mailbox on mine, since we both deal with intact. My next years rate would go up. With his insurance bill for new pole, many hydro workers, $200 is a drop in bucket. Had to purchase materials & install new box at my expense. I'm the innocent one, even police said so.Intact Insurance

The Claims Manager reached out to the insured on April 30, 2024, and explained to our client that we can not cover the damages to his mailbox as his deductible was more than the loss. The insured felt that the third party should be liable, so the UCM mentioned she will be sending a notice to the Auto claims side to investigate. The insured was pleased with this and will wait to hear from the third-party adjuster.
