    I received a letter from MAC Financial regarding a collections payment. There was a settlement amount. I called & made the payment in full and was provided a confirmation number along with them telling me it would be off my credit report and I would not be bothered anymore. Here I am in July & to my surprise it is still in my report and I am still getting harassed for more money!
    When I talk to someone they provide me no information on why I am still being bothered just an amount to pay! When I email, I get no response!!

    We spoke to the consumer in March and provided her an amount to pay of $454.84.  The consumer paid $270.59 and was supposed to pay an additional $184.25.  After the payment of $270.59 was paid she avoided our phone calls and did not make the final payment of $184.25.  This was all explained to the consumer on the initial phone call.  The consumer initially called in from a settlement letter that was expired.

    I am rejecting this response because: I told the person I spoke to that I had paid the settlement amount, which is why I paid the exact amount that was provided to me on that day! 
    I did not have the funds to pay the additional amount which is why I agreed to the settlement amount & paid right away. 
    I have not avoided calls, I have called and spoke to someone at Mac Financial & I have emailed and did not receive a response until I submitted this through BBB!!!

    We have left the consumer 7 voice mails since the initial phone call without a return phone call.  We explained to her on the initial call that the settlement had expired.  This was clearly written on the settlement letter. The consumer agreed to pay the remaining $184.25.  If she cannot afford it at this time then she can let us know and we will note the file.

    They are calling my phone daily & have just started calling my workplace ********* me, trying to tell me my only solution is a high interest loan otherwise Legal action! *********** to speak to my employer about my debt. They are extremely **************. Now I have to apply to their high interest loan company *********.

    Consolidation loans are a great way to repair credit and make one easy payment.  It's true that the interest rates can sometimes run high but the benefit outweighs the cost in our opinion.  For example the consumer is paying an annual interest rate of 19.99% on this credit card already.  Not to mention the other accounts that the consumer has in collections.  A consolidation loan would eliminate collection calls and relieve stress.  A consolidation loan would restore her credit and she would no longer be a high-risk borrower subject to increased interest rates. 

    The consumer started an application with ********* but failed to send in the required documents and stopped responding to the lender.  We were not aware of any second thoughts or hesitation in obtaining the loan.  That is the reason that we have been trying to reach her. 

    We would appreciate a clear response as to how she wishes to proceed.  Unfortunately if the consumer refuses to make payment on the account then our only other option is to proceed with legal action.  If the consumer wishes to file for bankruptcy or a consumer proposal then that would be another option to remedy the account.  We understand that these situations can be overwhelming.  We await further instructions from the consumer.

    I am rejecting this response because: they proceeded to send me mail at my place of employment, despite that i HAD been in contact with ********* but needed additional time to gather my financial information as I had a medical situation that had me admitted to hospital. ********* was aware of that situation as was the agent I was dealing with at this business.

    This company tries to contact me several times a day, from different phone number and even contacts my employer.

    I don't think they know the rules in British columbia.

    I had a ******** **** credit card that had an outstanding debt of 500$ from the year 2019.

    They are trying to ****** me for over 5000 dollars now.

    I'm pretty sure I can find the original ******** **** documents as proof.

    This company has the worst reputation online it's hard to believe they are allowed to even operate.

    We are attempting to collect this debt since 2020.  This is the first contact we have had from the consumer.  We would be more than willing to discuss a settlement amount with the consumer.  We use the statement information supplied by the original creditor and all of our letters in BC contain a detailed breakdown of the balance.  If there is any error or discrepancy than we are happy to adjust the balance.  We will await further instructions from the consumer on how they would like to proceed.  We are available by email or phone to answer any questions from the consumer in the interest of closing the file and repairing their credit.

    These people have me in the credit bureau for 8000.00 + I have no dealings with them

    Dear representative of BBB, First of all, I would like to say that I have never entered into any type of agreement or account with MAC Financial. These guys have been ********* me for years. Calling me several times a week, sending me text messages several times a week and at odd times, *********** me with letters from several lawyers, I have been taunted over the phone, laughed at when I said I didn't have a job and my daughter was in the hospital dying. I am currently unemployed and suffering from PTSD. Being the only person who resides in my house, and having to provide for myself, with no help and no family around me, this is causing my anxiety to go through the roof, and my heart palpitations and panic attacks get so bad I believe my heart won't be able to handle the stress much longer.
    I haven't had a ******** **** credit card for over 7 years now. I had let them know personally that I couldn't afford my payments anymore back in 2015-2016. I have never owed any credit cards that were higher than $10,000, and this company is stating I owe something of the effect of $26,781.27. ******** **** wrote off my credit card back then, and now MAC financial has been hounding me for years, *********** me, *********** my employment. How can I get myself back to work knowing they may try and garnish my wages? Knowing all of the stress they have put on me? What's the point ? This has caused me so much undue stress and I would like for this to cease. I'm pretty sure the amount of interest they have charged me is illegal, since my credit card with ******** **** was something around $7500, plus I have never been under any type of contract with MAC Financial, and isn't the statue of limitations 6 years in alberta ? How is this still happening? Can you please help?

    I am rejecting this response because of the wording.  "They will not contact me".   I also do not want anyone else (ie lawyers, representatives, etc.), contacting me on their behalf.  I do not wish to receive any further actions to contact me,  or legal matters, in regards to this account, that I did not enter into with MAC financial.  I will be requesting to have this formally removed from my credit history.   It is no longer showing on my ***** ***** report.

    We have no record of any request made for the original contract.  We would be happy to provide it.  We have never spoken to the consumer.  They own a home and have not made a payment on this credit card since 2019.

    MAC Financial is calling my work number ************* I have spoken to a women called Catherine who is looking for ******* *******. I have explained that this number has been with **** ** ******** for 15 years, she called me a **** and said I am ******* ******* and continues to call at least twice a week

    For the last 5 months, I have been receiving text messages from Mac Financial on a regular basis (up to 3 times a week) for someone else. Their messages include an exact dollar amount that is allegedly owed and a telephone number to call them back to make an arrangement. Since I don’t owe a penny to anyone on Earth and since I am not the person they are talking to, I didn’t even bother to call them back. It looked too much as phishing to me. I blocked this contact but they changed their number and I continue to receive the same text messages addressed to the same person who is not me. They seem to have an infinite supply of telephone numbers to send messages from.

    I have been receiving text messages and phone calls from Mac financial for someone else, they have sent me text messages with an exact dollar amount that is allegedly owed. I have had multiple conversations with multiple individuals explaining that they have the wrong number but to no avail. I have run out of patience with them and their incompetence

    I am writing to make a formal complaint against MAC Financial Recovery, Who provided service for ******** **** ****** ****. My complaint is I had a ****** **** with ******** and when the Covid Pandemic started I was only working four days a week and was unable to keep up with the payments . As I was in the process of getting back on my feet so I can start making payment we are hit with inflation. I am not running away from paying my bills I just do have the money. To keep up with my bills, I have to be borrowing money from pay day loans so I can buy food and keep a roof over my head. I am filing this formal complaint because on April 28, 2023, I received a letter at my workplace from MAC Financial Recovery. I am not sure how they got my place of work address. I reached out to then when I received the letter asking why they would send a letter to my workplace, how unprofessional can they be they don’t who is opening the mails. I was told by the person who answer the phone they can do what ever they want and that is a good way of getting my attention . He was very extremely unpleasant.



    To have a business-like MAC Financial Recovery sending letter to your workplace, I think is very unprofessional and should not be operating a business. I know these collection agencies goes around to companies and buy over their bad debt and think they have the right to do what ever they want. I will like this to stop. I do not want MAC Financial Recovery sending letter to my workplace. This is now how a business should traumatize and upset someone causing severe emotional . I am seeking from the company to stop send letter to my workplace.
