We contracted with a company called Mad City Bath and Windows and they work has been horrible. When we contacted them to put in a shower and one window that was in the shower and we have had several issues. They told us that they can legally come out as many times as they want to fix the issues because the contract says that they can. Now that they have come out 5 times and the issue is still not fixed they told us that they would give us $500.00 AND terminate our lifetime warranty on the work that they done. When they did the demonstration they said one then and then did another. One of the issues that we have been having is that the caulk keeps peeling and we found out that they are using expired materials and they said that it is fine. The finance company that we went through (which is through Mad City) stated that we still have to pay even if we are having issues because there are walls and running water basically. We have tried to work with the company and now feel that we need to escalate this because it has been false advertising the whole time. There is so much more that we should seen as red flags but didn't until it was too late. We are contracted for almost $18,000 and would like to get help with this. We would like the bill to be wiped with all the issues. If they want to alter the contract (which they told us could not be done when we wanted some changes) then I think that the contract should not be void.Business Response

The customer and I have been in constant communication via email because they did not want to talk on the phone. Each and every issue the customer would have we would address. Issues such as installing a new window kit due to the customer wanted more of a pitch on the window sill then what we would normally put because they did not want any water standing at all. Adding 2 tubes of caulking behind the j-channel because they did not want rain to go over and around and behind their j-channel and get in their walls. To tearing out and recaulking the shower 3 times. The final time the customer wanted the caulk lines to be as thick as your thumb which is thicker then our standards and industry standards. During the final service we asked them to look over every inch of the project multiple times before our service tech left the house. They signed off the service service ticket that everything was complete and when they reached back out asking for compensation and I did not offer what the customer wanted that is when they stated they still had issues with their caulking and said they were going to talk together to see if they would accept the offer or not. That final email was on 12/17/2023 and I have been waiting for a response since.Customer Answer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
In the last response that we received we were told that we would get compensated $500 because they had come out 5 times and that they were going to cancel our warranty which is part of the contract. When we talked in the beginning when we were having these issues we were told that compensation could be given but it would have to be given to us but that they could not alter the contract and would have to send a separate check. But then the option that they give us is the $500 and cancel the warranty.
We are still having issues with the caulk and do not feel that Mad City is competent to do the job correctly.
We have pictures and videos of the work as well as other proof about the work and conversations.
We do not want to deal with Mad City and if have to then we definitely do not want to deal with anyone from the ********* location.
We have a list of issues that we have been having and we are over all the trouble that this has caused.

Multiple visits including nice but slick salesman. Should have been my 1st clue. Originally quoted me $12,999 for 2 1/2 windows. Should have been my 2nd clue. I said no way he immediately dropped it to $7000. He said the amount of leakage and heat was minimal and demonstrated with a heat lamp. May 1, 2023 installed. Very nice polite man. I pointed out gaps between the frame and new window. He said there was nothing could be done. I was not well on the install day and just needed to be done for the day. I tried to live with it the way it was, but decided I could not for the price I paid. I called, they sent someone to look my concerns over, then scheduled the installer to return and address the issues. He attempted to cover some of the nicks in the frame with a stain marker, and left me the marker for the rest. He caulked some of the gaps and said it was not necessary for the others as no air leaks could happen. I explained I had not been through a winter, and we would see. It is now January ****, my old 33-year-old windows were just as airtight as these. I never had condensation in the winter with my old windows. Run dont walk away from this company.Business Response

MadCity came to install on 5/1/23, returned back on on 7/13/23 for an inspection after a call of concern on 7/10 from the homeowner. Returned on 7/24 to complete the service issues related to caulking. The job and service were complete on 7/24/23. The homeowner has not reached out to MadCity to discuss any issues or concerns since her call on 7/10/23 and has had no contact with or made any attempt to contact MadCity since 7/24/23. In the customers complaint she requests no further contact from our company. I did try and reach out to the customer today on 1/9/24 at 9AM CST and left a voicemail with my direct number.
I feel the complaint is not merited as the customer has requested no further contact from our company as the desired resolution and has at no point asked us to inspect or given us any opportunity to resolve her concerns.

2 of the 3 Window sashes were defective. All three windows had *********** buildup. Im not sure why the third sash isnt getting replaced also. I was told there wasnt too much draft in the third window. I disagree.
The gaps between the new window and inside frame will be caulked.. The gentleman offered to cut into my original Inside window framing, Then install matching trim to close the gaps. With the quality of installation thus far I prefer no more cutting on my windows. I will need to be satisfied with caulking, It will be clear so hoping it wont show too bad.Customer Answer
Date: 02/13/2024
Yes I have heard from the company.all three windows had considerable frost. The gentleman that came to examine the windows, is replacing two of the three sashes. He stated the third did not need to be replaced. They continue to update me on the status of the replacement sashes. Have not seen them yet.I cant say if I am satisfied, as nothing has actually been done yet. Only talk & visits.I am hoping that caulk will solve the leakage/draft on the third window.Business Response

In response to the Homeowners concerns and based on our inspections of the areas of concern, we believe that the caulk portion of the work and our plan to visibly verify the insulation around the windows in question will resolve any and all issues or concerns. The caulk does not hold any value for insulation and is for aesthetics on the interior only. We will be through in our process to insure proper installment of all aspects of the project in reference. This service has been scheduled for completion.Initial Complaint

The sales man sterling lied about everything from the beginning he knew my biggest concern was the shower being slip proof because it was for my 81 year old mother in law he said it was slip proof weight baring after he lied to us about that he put in the paperwork to leave a mat which was not left and she slipped and sprained her foot then it was leaking with low water pressure due to wood being in the piping they installed now today they come to fix the last problem a hole in the vinyl and asked my mother in law to sign a paper saying I would not *** I was not even there and she told them she would not sign then he said he would contact me to try and get me to take down my goggle review of which he never called and they cant tell me what to doBusiness Response

We at the ********** branch of production have been in continuous contact with the Homeowner of this contract since the instant of becoming aware of any issues. We serviced the shower floor as soon as possible given the holiday schedule of everyone involved. We installed the *** anit slip on the base of the shower 12/27 and the we did not leave the home until the homeowner was happy. We received a service call this week about potential floor damage we may casued. My field manager serviced the home 1/4 and once again the homeowner stated how happy she was with MadCity. .Customer Answer

From the start mad city was not giving a good thought in my head when the salesman refused to leave my house until I essentially bought product from them. He kept trying to peer pressure and bully into buying a product. First door installed: came to me very poor quality very poor craftsmanship and very rushed install, did not look good. Installers had very lacking respect. They were happy to fix it.2nd time coming out, door frame was damaged, again poor quality, did a half a** job and tried to cover it up. 3rd time they sent out technicians, technicians put extra s**** holes on the frame. The trim outside was poorly installed, caulking job poorly done. 4th and final time they came out, install was for most part ok. Caulking job is still bad. Didn't cut internal trim pieces square so the corners have gaps on them, and they left the corners rough and poor finish. Ive given up after the 4th time and accepted it'll never look good. They offered us ONLY 10% off which is pathetic with how many times they screwed up and told us that it would come off my bill. Then after I called them wondering where my bill was, they informed me that a chdck was going to be sent Inwhich I never approved or agreed too. All said and done, they've done nothing but use excuses on poor craftsman ship and very poor lack of communication. Very unprofessional.Business Response

We feel like it was a bait and switch sale--We asked numerous times if they were replacement windows vs replacing our windows. We were told they we going to replace the windows and ensure everything surrounding the window was in good condition. Not true- they were REPLACEMENT windows which resulting in losing 3 inches in each direction. -We were shown with a heat lamp how energy efficient they were and how our poor pets will hate them because they wont get the warm from the sun. Not true, you can without a doubt still feel the sun, our dog still loves laying and sun bathing near the windows. When asked about this we were told well yeah, the suns rays are different then a heat lamp. Maybe dont show that as a selling point. -Easy one finger open we were shown samples of how with one finger the windows would glide open. Not true- several of the windows take a lot of two hand force to open. -The sales rep stabbed the screen with a pen to show they "couldn't get holes" in them. A new screen has a hole.-Door handle did not match what was orders -We were promised the best customer service and support. We did two homes with Mad City, BOTH had windows that were not measuring correctly and need to reorder and wait an addition 12 weeks for delivery. Then THE *** OF, 15 minutes prior to their arrival, Mad City called to say they wouldnt be there because the window didnt come in. Then when the windows did they were the wrong size again. We have asked multiple time throughout the project to meet to discuss our concerns and frustrations and no one returns our calls. My husband received a salutation call from Mad City regarding a bathroom, when he asked about our current window issues he was told there was a note on our account stating NOT to call the customer. We were just called and told to pay our bill however the project STILL isn't complete, when we said we wouldn't they threated to take us to court and still aren't will to meet to discuss.Business Response

I was told that the new walkin shower would be beautiful and the workmanship would be the finest. The shower is not beautiful and the workmanship looks quite like an amateur installed it. the rod for the shower curtain is not level so the shower curtain does not meet the top of the shower pan and water splashes onto the floor. The molding did not stick to the shower pan. and finally one of the covers for the handicap bar will nor stay in place. again making it look like an amateur job. I think the company deserves about half what I paid for such poor workmanship. I did contact Mad Ity Windows through their complaint form online and have had no response. I called the ************** and was told the warranty does not cover installation. They referred me to the Mad City customer service line and there I was told, I should contact the warranty company. I would never do business with this company again.nor refer any of their services to anyone. I feel I should get half my money back and that is still outrageous for the lack of quality for their work.Business Response

Sales guy told us 2 days *** it would take to replace windows and frames. Apparently their sales people dont know anything, first day they were here one of the installers told us it would take the whole week. Took them almost 2 weeks. They started the job when they apparently didnt even have all the material. So why would you start the job. The left on a ************** days of work and told us they would be back Monday to finish. Called Monday morning and was told they would be here by 9 and the lady that I talked to had a real attitude with me about it. No one ever showed up because apparently they went to a different job and arent coming back to my job until Wednesday. So they left my windows half done in December in *********. I got cold drafts coming in all around them for 4-5 days. Not to mention, they knew we were putting our house on the market and now its had to sit as temporarily unavailable for over a week because our house was a mess with windows half done and stuff moved around so we couldnt get pictures. So thats potentially costing us money since we cant have people come look at it.Business Response
