Like others, I have had a terrible experience with billing. I received a cost estimate of $0 with insurance, so I opted to bill through insurance. Months later I received a bill for $600, which is almost 3X the self pay option. When I called their billing department, they tried to gaslight me by telling me I had seen the cost estimate of $600, which made absolutely no sense because why would I have opted to pay $600 with insurance instead of $200 self pay? Luckily I had a screenshot of the cost estimate showing $0 and they did honor that, but if I hadn't taken a screenshot I would've been out of luck.

Exploited me as a patient to advance a political agenda, actually asked me my preferred pronouns on two separate occasions, expecting me to play along like this is normal. They literally have my DNA and my name which is very feminine. I was seeking information about my breast cancer risk results, then got a lectured on pronouns. There are hundreds of psychiatric conditions- why only screen for gender dysphoria? Because they are being political at the expense of patient care.

Like many others here, I got a complete runaround from Myriad. First, I was told by Myriad and my doctor that I could collect the sample myself at home. Then I got the kit. It stated unequivocally that I HAD to schedule an appointment with my doctor. This is a minimum of $500 for a visit. No matter how I tried, I could not get Myriad to commit to a price for the testing. Very sketchy and unprofessional. I suspect their results are garbage, too.

Good company. They have professional people in their billing department that stuck to their estimate even though my insurance company would not pay. Genetic screening for cancer mutations in people with a family history should be considered preventative.

My doctor had me try 10 or so medications before saying this GeneSight test might narrow down medications for me. She said it shouldn't be more than $180 out of insurance (might not be covered by insurance), and their website said they would reach out if it was over $300 before running the test. No correspondence was even attempted, they didn't try my insurance at all, and I get a bill in the mail over $300. They do not answer their emails, not even to pretend to care or act legitimate. Not to mention, none of the medications on the green side worked for me anyway; they all gave me horrible symptoms. Waste of time and money; DO NOT USE.

My doctor recommended me to go forward with the genetic testing and since I had good health insurance, I should be able to have some of it covered. I received an email from Myriad informing me they had contacted my health insurance providers and that my estimated cost would be $0. I understand the word "estimate" but what I did not understand is why my insurance company informed me that I would be responsible for over $5,000 in testing fees. This was 3 months after testing was done. My insurance explained that no one ever contacted them for approval and when my doctor's ****** called Myriad to figure out what happened, their first response was that "The patient doesn't know what they are talking about". After my doctor's ****** demanded to speak with the "higher-**** at Myriad, it was discovered that no one had requested approval. If it hadn't been for my doctor's ****** pushing for answers, I would have had to file an appeal.

Sketchy. Im at odds on this one. Im with everyone else on this one deceiving. I was also told by my ob/gyn that insurance covers it most of the time and when they dont the cost is minimal. She wanted me to have it because of my familial history of multiple types of cancers and own health issues.I agreed to the test blood it was drawn. My gyn told them to expedite it. I received a phone call from them.a week later. Telling me they could not give me my results until I spoke to a genetic counselor. I was like wow this cant be good. The first opening wasnt for another week. (So that was already two weeks out from the lab draw and 4 weeks since biopsy)Only to be told that insurance requires preauthorization because I dont actually have cancer. They wasnt actually interested in a complete family history that had cancer. Only my immediate sibiling/children, parentsThen was sent thisemailOf note, the following calculation of your lifetime breast cancer risk assumes your genetic test results are normal (negative) for the BRCA1/2 genes. Authorized with the limited breast panel. Got my bill in the mail.My deductible has been met a long time ago.The phone interview was not covered that bill was separate I dont remember the exact amount. But $148 is sticking in my head for one of them.Follow up with my doc for results whenever they are ready. Its been a month no results.

No stars. Rep for company sold these dna kits to provider stating would not cost patient more than $300 if insurance didn’t pay. Received bill for $5650. Bill states return EOB and they will adjust bill. They just continue to bill you for the $5650
