AppsTango was hired through Enlightened Grove to develop an app for Belle Ame Center for Artful Living, a nonprofit. We were given an estimated price and a projected completion time of about 30 days, consistent with AppsTango’s advertising.

After significant delays, and only three days before we planned to announce the launch at a conference, we learned that the app had been built using a third-party product requiring a substantial ongoing licensing fee that had not previously been disclosed.

AppsTango president REMOVEDassured us he would personally rebuild the app from scratch, if necessary, at no additional charge. We were then told another template had been found requiring only a minimal annual fee, so we agreed to proceed.

Over the next four to five months, however, we were billed substantial additional development fees. The final cost exceeded three times the original estimate. When the app launched, it had numerous unresolved problems, and our project manager left the company on launch day.

Approximately five months later, in March 2026, we were informed that the app had been built using a third-party product on a trial basis. We were told that unless we paid another substantial annual licensing fee by May 2026, we would lose access to the app.

AppsTango offered to rebuild the app again at additional cost, but could not guarantee completion before the existing app became inoperable. We therefore had to hire another developer to recreate it.

Our primary concern is that two major licensing requirements were disclosed only after substantial funds and resources had been committed. Had these dependencies and continuing costs been disclosed at the beginning, we would not have proceeded under the same terms.

      Documentation available.

Requested resolution: We request reimbursement of $15,000 toward the additional development and replacement expenses caused by the undisclosed licensing requirements and written response to issues.
