I was originally attempting to retain legal services for a chapter 7 bankruptcy. I ended up canceling these services as I had never signed any documents agreeing to the retention of legal services but I did submit my card information in order to set up a payment plan. These services were supposed to be cancelled and my payment method should never have been attempted to be charged. They have attempted to charge my card for 2 months now. They also do not allow me to remove my payment method through the web portal.

I paid for a bankruptcy two years ago. In August of 2022 and was told to stop paying my credit cards and submit all of my files pay stubs bank records Ids socials etc. I have since had to take 3 credit classes which is required before filing the bankruptcy with the court. They expire after 6 months and it is my time and money being wasted further because of the negligence on recovery law. I have been switched to numerous paralegals and filing attorneys but nothing ever goes forward. Im now going through a divorce and really need this done so I can move on with my life. It takes a lot of time to gather all of the documents required and it shouldnt take this long. I highly recommend never using this company. They know my name when I call they have no empathy toward a paying distraught customer and after two years I have every right to be distraught. I feel as if I was scammed.

I paid to file a Chapter 7 bankruptcy case in January 2024. I had my final review with the attorney on June 12, 2024. After that appointment my case was to be filed. I have been calling the company and either I am put on hold and my call dropped or I was connected to a case manager whom had no knowledge of my case. She informed me she would contact me on July 12, 2024 to let me know why my case had not been filed nothing. No call, no email. Today, July 19, 2024 I received a summons from a creditor that is on my creditors list. This company never contacted my creditors. They have done nothing on my case other than request documents.

I am rejecting this response because:   I received a response immediately.  Actually I received an email from the attorney handling my case.  He said my case would be filed on that Monday last week.  He said he needed 4 paystubs which I sent, along with the summons I received.  Since Monday I have not heard anything from either the case manager or the attorney.  I received another copy of the summons via mail.  I sent an email Friday July 26, 2024 requesting information about whether my case was filed and whether they had reviewed the summons. Nothing from either the case manager or attorney.

I am going to respond to the summons because i have no faith that this attorney will take care of the matter.  I am a senior, whom works only 2 days per week.  They are suing me for over 24k that would destroy me financially.  It is hard enough trying to survive on 20 hours per week, if my wages were garnished I could not longer live.  I would like my case filed immediately so that I do not have to worry about this summons.  This has been so stressful knowing you paid an attorney to complete a job and nothing is being done.

Nothing more is left to do but to file my case and if it has been filed no one is letting me know.  Very rude professionals.  They treat you like trash when you phone the office and I do not have faith in their work because, no one will speak to or let me know what is going on with my case.

We understand the situation and wish there was more that we could do in this instance as a refund but substantial work and costs have been performed for your case.  Legal counsel's job and role is to interpret the law and report the best possible outcome and solution to our clients.

There is considerable work that is done for every case and file that is opened which is why, it is fine, if you decide not to continue with the bankruptcy and move forward, however, for work completed and performed it is billed at the hourly rate and outlined in the retainer agreement for all clients.

We have costs to pull credit reports, notify creditors, send certified letters(on behalf of clients) , pay staff and open the case file and documents in the office per the legal process with software and physical overhead.

If you would like to continue the process we are here to assist and help but our staff has to be compensated for their time and we must make sure to cover costs for cases and clients when we open a case file and have a signed retainer agreement and contract outlining the fees and process. In your case we have opened the file, started the petition, documented creditors, filed the retainer agreement internally and begun the legal protection process internally (all of which requires human capital, time, software and overhead costs).  That said, we have performed the work and have your case and files prepared so that if you decide to move forward we can finish the case requirements and documents to be filed with the bankruptcy court if you decide to finish paying the fees and move forward.

Please let us know and reach out to the operations manager with the firm so we can discuss options and the ability to assist further at any time. The client services line is ************.  We are in the office from 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM EST Monday through Friday.

Thank you for contacting us regarding this matter and we would like to figure out a way to work together and achieve the goal that we started from the beginning.

It is just very challenging as we don't have a tangible product like say a tv (or some physical product) that could be returned and resold which I think we are all used to in consumer returns and refunds. With legal services and representation this is not the case.  We are here to help you and want to make sure that we achieve a fresh start and financial future for you and your family.  If you would still like to cancel you will need to speak with your lawyer **** Wajda at ************.

We are sorry that is your opinion of what you believe costs of a business and overhead to be, however, anytime a case and client file is opened there is extensive work and costs as a law firm with licensed professionals, paralegal staff, administrative staff, software, merchant processing payment fees and much more. Sorry you don't feel that the services provided match the presumption of cost you think the business endured.

Services for bankruptcy filing paid in amount of 1980 prior to June 17.Documents sent and approved were past 3 years taxes. Identity and agreement. Requested to cancel after credit report was pulled and they declined to include the 3 debts that were owed to cause the need for bankruptcy. I was told to wait for preparation call to cancel. For that call they wanted bank statements, which were sent but not approved or posted and title to my car and a divorce decree from 1991. I declined to submit the divorce decree and the call was canceled. Now they will only refund the filing fee of 363. There was no action taken by the firm that would result in removal of the 3 debts and feel as though this was a bait and switch effort to prey upon people with limited resources.

The generic response does not include any specific information as to why they excluded the debts I requested. Which is why I cancelled. The cookie cutter approach should have been disclosed when they said they could help me.

Also, they claim to have worked on the case, however they have not addressed the 3 debts in any of the work and will not proceed without a divorce decree from 1991 that is clearly not relevant in 2024.

the actions referenced above do not provide value to me.
      Regards,

I hired Recovery Law group to file bankruptcy on my behalf. I started the process in January 2023, I made payments to them and completed paying them off in March 2023. I have contacted them multiple times with no answers, when I finely got ahold of them, they requested documents. I sent everything that they needed but still no word from them. On July 3rd, 2023, they set me up for my 1st prep with a paralegal she then asks for more information which I did provide. I contacted them after the documents were send and I was told that my ****** would be file. This was on July 6 2023. I heard nothing from them. Today is October 5, 2023, I spoke to a paralegal today and they are requesting more information. I did send all the documents. I feel like waiting 10 months is much too long when I paid them in full

When I initially started with Recovery Group which is ******* Wajdas bankruptcy firm, I had the free consultation and **** ran my credit report. I then reached out because i had questions regarding my account and was told by another attorney that nothing would be done on my account until all fees were paid in full. I reached out to **** in February of this year and informed him I was being sued by **** of America and asked for help. I was informed that I would need to answer the suit myself. Ive also recently been served with another suit from another creditor. I requested the fees Ive paid so far around $500 in a refund because Im answering my own suits and Im unable to pay the $1813 in fees. I am unable to pull the document that I signed initially regarding the retainer and unfortunately since Im answering my own suits and not being protected under bankruptcy by my attorney, I feel it is my right as a consumer to request what Ive paid back. Although **** informs that he has done a lot of work on my account, *** included an email from one of the other attorneys that informs nothing will be done until the fees have been paid. I just want my money back. Thank you!

      Hi *****,

I want to clarify a few points for you in regards to the bankruptcy filing and process.  You hired the firm to file a chapter 7 bankruptcy (not litigation defense against creditor lawsuits, however, as discussed with your attorney during the consultation the bankruptcy would eliminate these debts and the lawsuits once the bankruptcy case is completed) which we advised and discussed at the time of the consultation that all fees need to be paid in full to file with the courts.

We do have a process in which we pull the credit report and start the process of filing.
