I purchased my car and financed through Santander in April of 2024. As of April 2025, the vehicle was refinanced with Capital One and the vehicle was paid off with Santander on 5/1/25, as posted in my online portal. Santander provided a refund of overpayment, sent via **** in the form of a prepaid mastercard, received on 6/7. Santander has failed to provide a release of lien that is acceptable to Capital One MULTIPLE TIMES and I am unable to register my vehicle in a new state because of their negligence. Capital One, as well as myself, have requested the release of lien be sent out no less than 5 times and Santander has been unresponsive, even going as far as saying I am unable to request the letter to provide to Capital One to get this process over with. Capital One requested this letter from Santander on 6/26/25 and has received no response from this worthless company. Santander Consumer USA also told me (Via representative) that I could request my car title by going through a website, with which they are partnered, but to process the request, I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. Santander has no legal interest in my vehicle as they've received all $22,000 of their money, but refuse to release the lien properly. Acceptable resolution: SEND THE **** RELEASE TO THE NEW ****HOLDER AND BE DONE WITH IT.Business Response

In March of 2024 @5StarSouthDodge I financed a Title loan for a 2018 **** CHEROKEE. The initial amount was $35,000 on the value listing but got adjusted down to $16,000(Chrysler updated my account). The **** had "SEVERAL" engine problems. I had an active warranty with the car until they let it expire during a repair attempt I "REALLY" needed in the month of June. I contacted the dealership for service statements for repair costs so i could pay or take out an insurance policy from my provider. They informed me(Late) in September(2024) that the vehicle was junked because the Radiator ************** had melted and that Chrysler Capital filed the vehicle as "Abandoned at *************** without any sign-offs. I called several sales agents @ChryslerCapital from Oct(2024)-July(2025) Yes 10 months, with phone records. They promised every time to have a representative call or email me info on my contract terms on how to handle my loss but I have received radio-silence. At this point i had to submit a dispute on the loan(I had success) but @ChryslerCapital listed my account as "Charge-Off" which is confusing because they won't call me about how to refinance/settle my contract. I need help with this because I have all the hard copies of my files except my most up-to-date contract policy. I think they may be denying me this because i called to have them email me that info but i haven't heard back since July 2, 2025.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
First and foremost THANK YOU Santander Team for finally reaching out to me 11months into the account i opened with you guys last year.
Im sorry to inform you that an attorney @SpartenburgCreditAA offered a credit loan account starting a month from July 9,(if accepted). By this time we talked to South Dodge about the whereabouts of the 2018 Cherokee but they said that Chrysler Capital currently has the lein. As of July 17, the loan is under a dispute investigation and has 2027 removal date. I have have my information attached if you need to contact me for any important information.

Complaint Type: Vehicle Repossession / Contract Violation / Failure to Accept Payment Complaint Details:Santander Consumer USA repossessed my vehicle on June 26, 2025, despite multiple verbal agreements that should have prevented this. In early June, I had a verbal agreement to make payments on June 27 and June 30 to stop repossession. Then, on June 24, a representative told me that paying $625 would stop the repossession altogether.I attempted to pay the $625 as instructed, but Santander rejected my valid checking account info and then refused to accept payment from my husband, who is also the co-signer on the loan. The vehicle was repossessed in the early morning of June 26, before either agreed payment date. When I called Santander that morning, the representative did not acknowledge the verbal agreements, told me I could only get the car back by paying the full $30,000 balance, and refused to escalate my case to a supervisor.Santander also failed to notify my husband/co-signer about missed payments or the repossessionthis has happened multiple times. He would have helped prevent this if notified, especially given that Ive been in a mental health crisis following the recent death of my sister. The repossession process was also deeply mishandled:I was not told the car was taken across state lines My ID was rejected at the repo yard due to a name mismatch (despite my husbands ID being accepted)My license plates were prematurely removed Valuable property was missing, including:My sons wallet (with $400+ ****, ***-Bans, Lululemon gift card)1st Phorm supplements Non-perishable food intended for the vulnerable students and families I serve as a public school social worker. I was told it was thrown away.Business Response

I purchased a vehicle from ******** ********* on or about November 28, 2024. There was a vehicle extended warranty that was automatically added to my loan without my knowledge and I had my son co-sign on the loan with me due to credit issues I have. My APR on this loan is 21% which is quite disturbing since my son has well over a 700 credit score. We have received no explanation as to why these things have occurred. I would like the APR lowered, the balance of the loan adjusted, the monthly payment reduced (It's currently $657.86 a month) and the removal of the added extended warranty. I would the difference between what has been paid on the account and the new amounts refunded to me by Santander. I also feel that they should be somehow penalized for being a predatory banking institutionBusiness Response

I am rejecting this response because: I would like to see the criteria this decision of credit worthiness in writing because the co-signer had a credit score of over 700. There is zero justification of the decision of credit worthiness. The APR on this loan is completely predatory and I can see why this company is not BBB accredited.Business Response
