I am currently several hundred miles away, I have not driven my vehicle in 2 weeks. I got a notice that I entered a parking lot and couldn't be charged because my card was expired. Several months ago I was charged at a lot when I was parked at another. This seems like a conspiracy to steal money from people who don't pay attention to their cardsBusiness Response

This app is way overpriced and does not allow a business to validate your parking if you park a hair over one hour. Then you have to pay the full $8.99 for two hours of parking even if you were only there for 1 hour 15 min AND the business has applied their validation code. I have to have daily appointments and now Im forced to walk with my bad hips because I cant afford $9 of parking every single day. I have never heard of parking not being free after its validated no matter how long you parked. And their customer service is rude and lies and does not help. Park anywhere else that does not use this app.Business Response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is completed. This company still has horrible policies and they will never see another dollar from me ever again.

I attempted to short-term park at *******************, which is a Metropolis-owned parking facility on 6/19/25. On entry, the garage advertised multiple available spots. I circled the garage for a short period of times (17 minutes exactly, I was later informed) with no spots available. This included in lanes with "7 spots available" advertised with no update despite no spots being available through the duration of my search. I noted after I departed the garage that I had been charge for parking. When I addressed this via the online software, I was informed by the representative that "the duration of [my] vehicle inside the facility extended the ***** period of 15 minutes". After replying that my intent was to file a complaint with my credit card company, given false advertisement and failure to provide failure to provide purchased goods (I was never able to park as there was no parking available despite what was advertised), the representative informed me he would issue a refund given the circumstances. It is now over 2 weeks later and a refund has not been issued and this has been disputed by my credit card company. The circumstances I found myself in are poor practice and very shady in relation to this company who has no individuals on site, makes it extremely difficult to contact a person (AI-based pre-chat prior to being able to access a representative), and is very apprehensive to refund in a circumstance where their advertisement is false and misleading. I have very little faith in this company, and would not utilize again.Business Response

My girlfriend and I were going to dinner at ************** on ******* in ************. There was a parking garage with a vague "Parking Here" sign on it, about 50 feet from the restaurant. We naturally pulled right in, although we saw zero signage on what the parking rates were, how long we'd be charged for, etc. We assumed that due to proximity, ******** would be able to validate the parking for a reduced rate. By the time we sat down at the table, my girlfriend had received notice that she was being charged $42 to park there by Metropolis. I asked the waiter, and he said they validate parking, but not for that garage. I assumed there would be some sort of grace ******* so I immediately went and moved the car to another garage, where parking was validated, and we paid $8 for multiple hours of parking. We were parked in the garage for less than 20 minutes, and Metropolis is stating that they are "very sorry for the confusion", but no refund can be granted. They simply state "it's the policy".These predatory business practices are the exactly the sort of thing that the BBB complaint system was made for. Metropolis purposefully hides what the rate will be, they have a system that doesn't allow you to ask for a ticket, speak to anyone, or go through a gate. They essentially lure people into garages without proper signage, and then trap them into paying outrageous fees because "it's policy". There is a small sign with fine-print only, at the entrance to the garage, but no one can possibly stop and read that sign in the flow of traffic. It'd be a safety hazard to do so. Metropolis never provides the opportunity to consent to the charges. This type of business practice should be illegal. Go do a quick ****** search of Metropolis and you will find thousands, and thousands, and thousands of poor reviews and complaints for practices just like this. It is sickening, and the people who run Metropolis should be in jail.Business Response

The City of ******* has been contracting with Metropolis for some municipal lots. We parked in a municipal lot that was not identified as managed by Metropolis. The day we parked was a free parking day in *******, yet we received a $30 parking summons from this company. The noticed claimed an unpaid parking charge of .76 and a fee of $30! Outrageous. We have an electric vehicle and were parked in an EV Spot to try charging using one of Boulder's free parking station EV chargers. I had read terrible complaints of the same happening to others in the community and would not have parked there if I know it was a Metropolis managed lot. They are a horrible predatory business and should be shut down. ******* should be ashamed of itself.Business Response

Metropolis is operating a deceptive and predatory parking garage system by failing to provide clear, visible signage or payment instructions. On June 2, I parked in a garage marked only with a PARKING sign for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. There were no QR codes, no ticket machines, and no posted instructions on how to pay for parking anywhere in the garage.Days later, I received a notice by mail demanding $60.25, consisting of a $15 parking fee and an outrageous $45.25 notice fee. This felt like extortion. After contacting Metropolis to dispute the unfair charge, they agreed to waive part of the fee but still required I pay $20 total ($15 fare + $5 of the notice fee) just for a short parking stay during a pizza lunch. They also threaten additional fees, debt collection, booting, or towing if payment is not received within 30 days a clearly abusive and coercive tactic. This is an unethical and misleading business practice. There were no visible signs or instructions anywhere in the garage to inform customers how to pay. I would never have parked there had I known this would result in a retroactive fine.I request that the BBB investigate these unfair practices and hold Metropolis accountable for deceptive operations that target and exploit unsuspecting customers.Business Response

Metropolis Parking in *********** has kept my card information and any time my car is parked in a garage, they charge my card without my permission. My father is disabled and used my car, I got charged again. The fees charge for less than 2 hours are criminal. I want this company fined and will speak up to the city as well.Business Response

Date: 5/8/25 Service: Parking Fee Location: ****************** ********************************************* There is no clear, delineated signage information indicating the total potential cost for parking. Signage only indicates parking is free for the 1st 1.5 hrs of parking and an additional $5 charge for an additional 1.5 hrs. However, what information is NOT posted, implied, intimated in any way, shape or form is any additional fees or charges nor what those cost could actually be. In reality, ************************* actually billed an additional $45.25 "Notice Fee" making the total parking charge experience $50.25 (not $5 as posted on the signage). This is both misleading (not providing clear charge information on the signage) and allows for convenient price gouging from afar (in my opinion) that isn't remotely expected nor easily remedied until after the fact. I would imagine somewhere under the Commerce Clause that leaving out key, clear and delineated information at the point of a transaction is required. And you could probably argue that the very small signs (w/scant information) for a technology Corporation operting across State lines might actually constitute a newer form of advertisment, which I think would subject the company to a more rigorous set of rules and regulation (I have no idea). What I do know is that indications of a "Notice Fee" and the price of said fee are not posted on the Parking signs, nor on the parking information via the website for Optimist Food Hall. I'm all for new and emerging technologies and unique applications of them to enhance experiences and provide conveniences. Just be honest, transparent and competitively priced to demonstrate a true value for the service being provided and not have a business model that takes financial advantage of customers because of cleverness - it comes across as unethical.Business Response

I used Metropolis Valet parking in July 2022. I did not authorize for my information to be saved for future transactions. Today (6/17/2025) I received a text stating that I was somehow in a parking garage two hours away, and to just drive out to pay. When I clicked the link, it showed that my old car (that I traded in over two years ago) and my credit card information were linked to an account. I cleared the information from my account, but a pending charge is still showing on my credit card account. After over an hour on chat and phone, I kept getting the same run around. People should be clearly notified that their information will remain on file, and have the option to opt out.Business Response
