Government Action: BBB reports on known government actions involving business’ marketplace conduct:
    Alleged deceptive pricing practices

BBB reports on known government actions involving business’ marketplace conduct.  The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency.

On 11/1/2022, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost filed suit against Dollar General Corporation for alleged deceptive pricing practices.  Specifically, the lawsuit alleged the business advertises a low price but consumers are charged a higher price at the checkout counter.

On 2/8/2023, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced that his office and Dollar General reached an agreement to avert a temporary restraining order

On 11/16/2023, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced that the bulk of a $1 million settlement with Dollar General will go to food banks or other hunger-relief organizations spanning every one of the state’s 88 counties.

Under an agreement reached between Yost’s office and Dollar General, $750,000 of the settlement money will be distributed to food banks for the purchase and distribution of food and/or personal-care items. Each county auditor will choose the beneficiary in his or her county – a decision that must be submitted to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office by Nov. 30.

The matter is final.  For more detail go to https://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/Media/News-Releases/November-2023/AG-Yost-Announces-$750-000-to-Benefit-Local-Ohio-F
