BitSalt is a software studio. We build and sustain the software organizations actually depend on, the useful and often complex kind, not brochureware.
There are two ways clients come to us. When the tool an organization needs does not exist yet, we build it. When a system that used to work has lost the developer who understood it, we take it over and make it reliable again. Either way, the standard is the same: understand what is actually there, define what correct means for that situation, prove it with a test suite built alongside the software, and keep it running well past launch day.
BitSalt was founded by an engineer with twenty-plus years building software across the whole lifecycle, including the years after launch that most vendors do not stick around for. Work is currently running in production at three separate organizations, across three different sectors, for a decade or more at each.
Clients own everything we build: source code, tests, and documentation land in their own repository. No lock-in, ever. If a client leaves, their data goes with them.

We work two ways, starting from where a client actually is:
Build. When a workflow does not have the right tool yet, often one still running on spreadsheets, email, or manual reassembly every week, we build the small, correct application it actually needs, alongside the systems already in place rather than replacing them.
Rescue. When software that used to work has lost the developer who understood it, whether it broke outright or has just quietly stopped fitting how the organization runs, we take it over: go through what is really there, stabilize it, and bring it back to something the organization can depend on again.
Named starting offers. Both doors have a fixed-price first step: a workflow assessment for a process that runs on spreadsheets and late nights, and a system assessment for software that has lost its steward. Each ends in a written, scoped answer and a fixed price to do the full build, credited toward the build if the client goes ahead. Bigger or messier than either offer covers, the same offer gets scoped and quoted to fit.
Ongoing stewardship. After a build or a rescue, we can stay on as the software's steward, keeping it current, secure, and fitting the organization as it changes, rather than handing off responsibility and disappearing. Every engagement delivers source code, a test suite, and documentation into the client's own repository, so nothing we build becomes a dependency on BitSalt to keep working.
