I used Splitwise to manage shared expenses for a group trip. At the end of the trip someone transferred funds owed via Splitwise pay. I then found out that Splitwise pay is a scam. They Are making it impossible to accept the funds sent to me. They are asking me to go through a lengthy address verification (either by mail or by manual document upload). I uploaded my home insurance for proof of address but have not heard back. Also they give you 10 days to accept the funds or they keep it. Its clear that they do this lengthy approval process to try to keep funds transferred instead of paying it out to the person owed.If you read apple reviews you will see hundreds of consumers affected by this Splitwise pay. I have funds from june that I was unable to claim in time so they are keeping the funds. I want my full 178 reimbursed immediately

Splitwise, through our banking partner, is required by law to verify the identity of all people who apply to use a Splitwise Pay Wallet account. Applicants may be required to provide additional documentary evidence of any identity information that cannot be automatically verified. All documentary evidence is reviewed and responded to within a reasonable timeframe (usually 1-3 business days). In addition, and in line with industry standards, payments sent to recipients who do not have a Splitwise Pay Wallet account are returned to the Wallet account of the person who sent them after 14 days. Neither Splitwise nor our banking partner keep funds from expired payments - they are returned to the sender.
In the case described here, funds were sent to you on Splitwise Pay in June. You did not activate or apply for a Splitwise Pay Wallet in order to claim those funds. Those funds were returned to the senders 14 days later. You were sent additional funds in October. You applied for an account on October 18 and your application was reviewed and approved on October 20. The funds that were sent to you in October are available for you in your Splitwise Pay account now. If you need further assistance with your account, you can write to REMOVED
