1 starExtortion and deceitful practices. DO NOT do business with them In 2017, I paid for the online logo design service. The design was mine using their templates.I should point out that the name on the logo is registered in the ************************ and now with the federal government. I consider the logo to include the registered name. In July 2023, October 2023 and again in October 2024. I have received an email from them saying that they have a client who wants to proceed with the copyright ownership of the same logo design symbol for the trademark that you purchased from us and using it. You purchased this logo first and used it for so long that's why we are approaching you first to retain its copyrights/ownership right to secure your logo.We have no issues giving him a logo with its complete copyrights but in case if the logo is trademarked then you may not be able to use the same logo anywhere. For the acquisition of exclusive copyright ownership, a standard fee of $450 is applicable, payable as a one-time transaction. Upon completion of this acquisition, you will be provided with comprehensive documentation with complete source files.Furthermore, we guarantee the permanent removal of the design from our database and website, ensuring the exclusivity of your ownership. The $450 is down from $599 in 2023.Review fromJosh O

Dear Better Business Bureau,Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the complaint filed by [*********************]. We take these matters seriously and appreciate the chance to clarify our position.Clarification on Terms and Conditions:When [*********************] purchased the logo in 2016, the transaction included a license for use, as outlined in our terms and conditions. Full ownership rights were available for an additional fee, which was clearly communicated at the time of purchase. Our team later contacted the client with a discounted offer to transfer ownership rights, prompted by interest from another party in the same logo. This offer was entirely optional and intended to provide an opportunity for ownership.Intent and Communication:The intention behind our communication was to present an opportunity, not to imply urgency or create discomfort. We sincerely apologize if our outreach seemed hurried or caused any distress, as that was never our intention.Commitment to Ethical Practices:At DesignMantic, we are committed to ethical business practices and value the feedback that helps us improve our processes. We appreciate your understanding and are open to any further inquiries regarding this matter.Sincerely,The DesignMantic TeamReview fromCraig C

I just had the same bad experience that is described as deceitful by others here, particularly as they don't disclose all this at the time of the sale. I was "sold" a design, then they took me through an upsell process to get the higher-resolution files that I had thought I was already getting. Then, several years later, they took me through the "another client wants to buy that design, but you can keep it if you pay a bunch more money to us" routine. This was *not* explained/understood at the time of the original purchase. After legal consideration, I'm not paying them more, and I'll continue as I am. If I ever need to update my logo, I'll certainly NOT go to this company.DesignMantic.com

Dear BBB Support Team,Review ID: ****** Thank you for the opportunity to respond to this complaint. We understand and respect the clients concerns regarding our logo ownership offer. To provide clarity:1.Terms and Conditions: When the client purchased the logo in 2017, the transaction included a license to use the logo, as outlined in our terms and conditions. Full ownership rights were available for an additional fee, which was detailed at the time of purchase.2.Ownership Offer: Our team contacted the client with a discounted offer to transfer ownership rights instead of the standard price of $599. This offer was extended in response to a potential interest from another party in the same logo, and was purely optional.3.Intention: The intention behind the offer was to provide the client with an opportunity to secure ownership rights if he wished. I was contacted by the digital sales and account manager about a logo I purchased in 2016. The snippet: "You downloaded a logo from our website. Actually, there's a client who is interested in copyrighting the same logo symbol. But I'm holding it for you in case you want us to transfer the copyright ownership to you... It will be a one-time maximum discounted fee of $399 instead of the regular price of $599" and highlighted "When you own the rights to a logo, you have the legal right to protect it from unauthorized use or infringement" in an attempt to rush and cause concern to us. Sir, we are a non-profit saving lives!! Aren't you ashamed? We don't have 400 to spare on a logo just cause you want to extort from past clients. The logo for us is really not that important cause I can make another one somewhere else. What's important is highlighting your UNETHICAL business practices.DesignMantic.com

Your designs are not really yours. About 2 years after creating my company logo, having business cards, flyers, pens, notepads, etc printed out, this company starts emailing and texting me saying a different company wants to use my logo and they'll reserve it for me if I pay $600+ because they own the trademark for it. I have saved those texts and emails fot anyone's reference. I consulted a real graphic designer and had to have my logo re-done and thousands of dollars worth of promotional merchandise re-printed, including the redesign of my company website. Sketchy, non-transparent business practices.DesignMantic.com

Dear BBB,We are writing to address an inquiry regarding a logo purchase made by a client on DesignMantic.com in 2016.As part of our standard process, we periodically follow up with our clients to offer them exclusive copyrights to the logos they purchase for their businesses. Last year, we contacted this client via email, offering the opportunity to purchase the exclusive rights to the logo. We quoted the standard price of $599, which is also mentioned on our website. For more details on our terms and conditions, please refer to the following link: DesignMantic Terms and Conditions. Specifically, under "2. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE" (c), it states:"For exclusive rights purchase of a Design symbol with prior multiple downloads, the Company may transfer the copyrights of the Design to the Customer, based on a separate exclusive rights Sale Agreement. With the exclusive rights purchase, the Company agrees to remove the Design symbol from the Company database within 3 business days upon successful processing of the sale with an agreed sum paid by the Customer. However, the Company does not guarantee exclusivity of the purchased Design symbol nor its use by another company prior to this Sale Agreement. The Customer understands that removal is an automated process and that the Company does not guarantee the absence of similar icons due to system errors. This purchase does not include the font used with the symbol, nor can the font be copyrighted without prior permission from the font creator/owner."Please note that this is an optional service, and if the client does not wish to proceed with purchasing the rights, they can still use their logo. We are open to communicating with the client to further clarify the matter and are ready to assist in any way that supports her business.Should you require further documentation or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are more than willing to provide any additional information necessary to resolve this matter.Thank you for your attention.Sincerely,The DesignMantic TeamReview fromDavid G

******* Counseling PLLC purchased a logo that we modified and paid for as any customer. ************************************************************* many of the reviews listed here. Hello,I hope youre doing good. This is ************************* from DesignMantic. You downloaded a logo from our website. Actually, there's a client who is interested in copyrighting the same logo symbol. But I'm holding it for you in case you want us to transfer the copyright ownership to you. Let me know if you are interested via return email or call me at PHONE NUMBER HERE Please find the Logo attached below: etc ec.. Then they tell me the logo can be bought for $399.00. When asked for a legal contract for this purchase as there should be, they only provided me with a "sample letter" After research this company operates under several names, and does provide services however they can not produce any legal documents that are certifiable and apparently have several websites under the main host Domainsbyproxy.com which is a non functioning website, and then they are the registrars of multiple other graphic design sites. Simple, they can not charge you for a "copyright" that you have already paid for, any "Rights" must be provided in full legal documentation, not a simple "letter" and basic customer service rules.. NEVER give someone money without reading the fine print. Shakedown for false service and product that they can not prove by legal forms and documents that they have the right to even transfer it to the client. DO NOT USE. use only an accredited BBB designer that shows that in the contract you have 100% rights to the full use and control of the design you order. ******* Counseling PLLC Director of OperationsDesignMantic.com

Dear BBB Team,We are writing to address an inquiry regarding a logo purchase made by a client on DesignMantic.com in 2016.After the purchase, we offered the client the option to obtain ownership rights for the logo for an additional $599, as specified in our terms and conditions (attached). The client did not choose this option initially, so we later extended a discounted offer of $399 to him.Our company retains the ownership rights to the logo unless the client purchases these rights through our ownership agreement. This agreement enables the client to apply for trademark protection independently, as we do not offer legal services related to trademarking. We also want to clarify that we have no association with the domain Domainsbyproxy.com and its a false allegation by a customer. We have independently transferred logo ownership rights to thousands of clients, who have successfully copyrighted their logos.Should you require further documentation, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are more than willing to provide any additional information necessary to resolve this matter.Thank you for your attention.Sincerely, The DesignMantic TeamReview fromJ

Unfortunately, I had the same terrible experience with this company as numerous others have reported. I designed a logo on their website back in 2015 for my business, and paid for it in good faith. I've been using the logo for my business for nearly 8 years. Similar to what others have reported to the BBB in this thread, I received a text from Design-Mantic today informing me they would sell the copyrights to my logo if I didn't purchase the copyright from them. They further indicated that if I didn't purchase the copyrights, it could lead to an accusation of copyright infringement on my part. At first, i though the text and email was yet another scam. I didn't believe it was from Design-Mantic, because my initial experience with the company was good. So, I called Design-Mantic and learned the text and email was from them. I'm sure they're probably on solid legal footing since they own the copyrights to the logo I bought, but what a terrible and deceitful way to run a business! I only paid $28 for it, so it's not worth filing a lawsuit anyway, even if I could win. A friend who is an attorney advised me to avoid deceitful, predatory businesses like Design-Mantic in the future. Word to the wise! Avoid this company or risk being ripped off! I decided not to pay their extortion/logo ransom. I'm designing a new logo for my company and will copyright it and trademark it.DesignMantic.com

3 starsUpdate: Owner has reached out to me and promised not to sell my logo. I am satisfied with this resolution and have updated the review to 3 stars as I was happy with their software when I used it. I consider the matter closed and appreciate the effort they made to reach out to me. Original review: Initially had a good experience, used this site to create the logo for my small business. Have been using this logo for 7 years and now I am receiving emails from Eric saying he wants me to pay more money to secure "exclusive rights" to the logo I created and paid for years ago. In his email, he states someone else wants to buy my logo if I don't pay a "discounted" rate of $549.00 he will sell my logo to them. This new fee has been created out of nowhere. This is basically extortion and is a really scummy way to run a company.Review fromMike M

Sold us a design 6+ years ago and now has become predatory to extort additional fees from our business through obscuring rights of what we originally purchased. These guys are deceptive at best and I wish we had gone anywhere else.DesignMantic.com
