This business was called to tow my vehicle. my car was parked, the starter was broken and I was waiting to pick up the starter and have it fixes, the same day it was towed. when I picked it up, I had a tool missing so it was then towed again. the tow driver then ignored us when we told him that the car was ALL WHEEL DRIVE. he towed it with the rear wheels down and the car began to smoke when we got off 95. that was a Saturday. Monday I had the starter fixed and by Tuesday the mechanic told me that my transfer case and drive shaft was destroyed from the bad tow. the transfer case alone was $700 +$400 for labor. the drive shaft will cost $600 + laborInitial Complaint

I parked in the grocery store parking lot and my vehicle was towed. I was there for 15 mins .when I came out I called the tow truck company and they told me yes my car was towed the couldnt explain why and said it would be 205 to get out they specified BRING CASH. They said the office is closed but call this number and someone will be there to get you ur vehicle. Its a scam ! I am female its late its on a dark road and no one was there my Uber dropped me off and I was standing there in the cold alone. I could have been robbed. Someone one should have been there to allow me to wait inside , especially with cash in hand. Also Im still trying to figure out why I was towed. Its the pk lot of the grocery store .Initial Complaint

George Smith Towing company has been illegally towing cars for profit. My husband is the supervisor of ************************ clinic *********************************************** Our car was parked legally in the space designated for ********* with the placard visible on the dashboard and they towed the car anyway. When we attempted to retrieve the care they said to come back tomorrow when my husband was first told to pick up the car and the tow truck driver would be arriving in 5 minutes We have been waiting outside since 6:30 pm and it is now 9:13pm. This is the second time an employee from ********* has been illegally towed.Initial Complaint

3/1/24: car was towed by George smith towing company and the parking spot was numbered and paid for. I was told after the car was towed that the ticket was supposed to be displayed on the dashboard but there are no signs indicating that being the case in the entire parking lot. The numbered spot was paid for for 3 hours. If a numbered spot is paid for they should be able to cross reference that number to confirm it is paid for and unexpired. this was a predatory tow because the tow truck was then waiting there after car was already towed. Not to mention the rudeness of the employee who answered the phone. Business was closed so was not able to pick up vehicle. Parking lot location was *******************************************************Initial Complaint

When I parked on Mifflin Street on Sunday, January 28 I checked the area for signs. The only visible sign I saw said "no parking school days 7am-430pm." After returning to my parking spot a few hours later, my car was gone. I walked up and down the street searching for any signs indicating what happened. After walking back to my car I noticed a sign on a gate that was wide up and not visible from the street that had information for George Smith Towing. I called and they confirmed they towed my car because I was "blocking a driveway the led to a dumpster." There was no obvious curb or driveway or a dumpster where I parked and it was clear another sign had been removed from the fencing of the same size of George Smith. Had that sign been there, I would have absolutely seen it.Initial Complaint

I reached out to them because my car was illegally towed from my boyfriend's apartment complex on 2/9/2024 at 9:22PM. I arrived at his complex around 2:50PM that same day and was issued an Overnight Parking pass by the girl at the front booth who asked me for the make and model of my car as well as my full name at the time of my arrival. The pass was placed in my front driver side dashboard near the inspection sticker as it always has been anytime I've visited in the 7 months that he has been living there. I was informed that Overnight Passes expire 24 hours from the time of arrival. However, my car was towed 7 hours after my arrival for whatever reason when the pass was clearly visible in the front driver side dash. I have pictures of the pass I got on 2/9/2024 along with the ticket of $26 and towing receipt of $205 from when my boyfriend paid for it to be returned to us the next morning when we realized it was missing. The towing receipt was paid, however the ticket has not yet been. He had been trying to contact his apartment complex's front office for the past couple of days, however they end up stating that the situation was out of their hands and to reach out to the ones who towed it. I sent an email as well as gave them a call to speak to someone in order for this situation to be rectified and have the ticket removed and his money refunded to him. The guy on the phone simply stated that "if there was pass, it wouldn't have been towed" and then he hung up on me. It was very unprofessional and rude, I didn't bother calling back because I wasn't about to get hung up on again by a grown man who can't handle adult conversations so I'm reporting it here because I have the paperwork and proof of my pass that was dated and initialed at the time I received it. I am looking to have my boyfriend's money returned to him that he paid to get my car out on 2/10/2024 and for the ticket to be removed completely because it was illegally towed to begin with.Initial Complaint

George Smith Towing Car towed our car even though we paid for parking for the evening. Although we paid for parking, we had to pay 200$ in cash to get our car back, which was significantly damaged. We called them, asking when someone would be able to get out car out. They kept saying 5 minutes. We had to stand in the freezing rain with indecent clothing, no shelter, and no way of protecting ourselves in one of the worst neighborhoods in Philadelphia for 2 hours until the wee hours of the morning. My friend pissed her pants because there was no bathroom available. When an employee finally came to give us our car and took our cash without any record of the transaction (I imagine this saves them money on taxes!), the employee sexually harassed my friend after insisting that she must go alone with him to get our car. Since they had to break into the drivers side door, it doesn’t open properly now and makes loud awful groaning, screeching noise when you open it. We had no compensation for our wrongful towing or the damage even though the employee admitted that they took our car even though we paid for parking.Initial Complaint

I was park for about an 1 hr for my birthday dinner to come back and there is another car parked where my car was. There was no visible sign on the street where I was parked that its a tow zone the sign are on the side street building. Which show don't park there. I paid to get my vehicle back I need my car and I was no way around it. But to have my car vibrating and shaking because it was towed improperly, I have an AWD. My car was towed with the two back wheels down. I need my vehicle fixed and my money back for this scam company if I will file legal actions. Also you get to the office just to be continue to told they will be there soon.Initial Complaint

On 11/9/23 my car was illegally towed from my workplace. I was told by the towing company that I should have had an employee plackard. The other cars did not display a plackard and my car was the only car towed since it was the newest car on the lot. Security was unaware that the car was towed and I had reported the car stolen only to find out it was stolen by the tow company. George Smith damaged my car and I am seeking the cost of recovery of my vehicle and repair.
