On Tuesday night October 11th 2022 I noticed black mold was on my mothers ceiling around the sprinkler system cover in her condo bedroom and also the area was damp when I touched it. Wednesday October 12th I contacted Julia R****** with Camco Management of her condo and told her that I believe it was the sprinkler system and would like someone sent out. I removed mom from her condo unit as this was not a safe environment for her to be in until the issue is resolved. She has had breathing and coughing issues and didn’t want her to get any worse. We did go back to get clothes and necessities for her to have in the meantime. Julia from Camco said she would send out maintenance to see if it was the sprinkler system but she was positive it was not and if not we would have to deal with it. Ken the maintenance guy came out on Wednesday at 8:30pm. He looked up at the ceiling and said I think that’s the sprinkler system and left. He didn’t get up and inspect it. On Thursday October 13th I contacted Julia from Camco again and she informed me that Ken was sent out to moms unit and he didn’t say it was the sprinkler system that he would have to go back out and take part of the ceiling down and put a camera up there to make sure. So that night Ken came out again with two other guys and took apart part of the ceiling to put the camera up there. While he was there he texted me and said the leak is leaking from the 90 degree pipe to the sprinkler system. Julia said that is the condo association’s responsibility but the ceiling is my mothers which doesn’t make sense since the sprinkler pipe is the reason ceiling is damp and moldy. Today is Oct 31st and this is still not fixed. I contacted the sprinkler co myself and they wanted to schedule on a day my mother had a dr’s appt so we scheduled for this morning it’s 2:00pm and still no call. I would think water and mold and a broken sprinkler would be handled weeks ago. I’m getting no where. I just want this resolved.

    Business Response

    Date: 11/12/2022

Tell us why here... Response from the manager handling the matter. This response was provided to me on 11/1/22.

This was a wet area where a sprinkler head was, not a heavy leak.  I sent the maintenance tech out to check the leak as we have had multiple issues where there is a leak or overflow from the unit above that finds its way through the sprinkler head area.  The maintenance tech checked it out and confirmed it was from the sprinkler system and we put in a work order with ****************************** (on 10/14).  ******* chose to schedule with the resident directly.  Apparently, they had some issues with scheduling because as she mentioned, she removed her mother from the unit and was not available for several scheduled dates.  ******* had yesterday morning scheduled but they were short-staffed and did not reach out to us or ******* unfortunately. They rescheduled with her for this morning at 8AM and I will follow-up to confirm the visit was coordinated.

I did relay to ******* that the Association is responsible for the sprinkler leak but that the unit owner is responsible for the drywall damage.
