1 starnever had such horrible experience! only was with them for about 45 days. had 2 cell phones on plan. the one broke within 25 days (screen would only show a 1/4 of it). made an asurion claim and they sent a replacement. that one would NOT connect to Consumer Cellular. they wanted us to get in car and drive around until we found a signal. the other phone did work, but the 2 times i really needed it it would not dial out. i have it mainly if car breaks down, so it does me no good. i quit their service and still having issues with them!!!Consumer Cellular

1 starConsumer Cellular claims unlimited text talk and data. That is an outright lie. I paid $60.00 a month for unlimited everything. When I got to 50 gb, they turned my data service off. Not slow it down, OFF. The service was fair, but they lie. And most of the people they try and deceive are elderly, I can say that because I'm 60 yrs. old myself. BEWARE!!!!Review fromPhyllis R

1 starReceived notice from CC that I would need to update SIM card. Received SIM card only to find several days later that voice mails and texts sent to me had not been received, nor mine to the recipients. Contacted CC multiple times. purchased new phone through them and still had issues. CC proceeded to tell me that issue was with the recipient's carriers. However, I contacted my bank who had also been unable to contact me via text, having them troubleshoot from their end finding text had been sent. Continuing to trust CC I followed their recommendation to purchase a new SIM card, finding the same issues. I decided I had enough and chose to go to another carrier. Upon transfer to the other carrier, I was told that I would not be able to utilize the phone purchased through CC for a period of 30 days. CC managers confirmed the policy and refused to waive the freeze but acquiesced that the issue was due to a "lack of supporting ******** towers." a clear lack of transparency, violating my trust as a customer/**********************. Facts that were never disclosed to me in order to make an informed decision upon the multiple contacts. I find it disturbing that CC markets to AARP members who are of advanced age and need to be in contact with family/friends, and/or health care providers for health and safety reasons. I strongly encourage consumers to seek other carriers who are able to" adequately" meet service needs, rather than risking someone's health and/or safety. Any additional monthly cost through a more capable carrier would be better than the risk to ones' well-being.Consumer Cellular

2 starsThese are the rudist people I ever dealt with. I've been with Consumer Cellular for about three months, they advertise $20.00 a month. But honestly my bill was never $20.00 time they advertise there fees and taxes it was between $27.00 and $35.00. Now your probably thinking more data usage was not the case and when I call to find out why, I'm told that fees and taxes are calculated through a programmed computer. So finally when I called them this morning because I got locked out of my account they proceeded to tell me that my account would be locked for 24 hrs. The representative was rude and really a smart a** I asked if I could have my account disconnected on my renew date she became real quiet would not answer me. And hung up and disconnected my service right then and there. So if your considering this company. Might want to think twice. B from *****Consumer Cellular

Thank you for your message and feedback. We tried reaching out to you directly, but were unable to contact you. We are terribly sorry to hear about your negative experience with our customer service. We can absolutely forward this information to the correct department for review and training. Tax is a common concern and the amount varies depending on where you live. There are federal, state, and local taxes on cellphone services averaging around 20% of your total monthly charge; some areas are higher and some are lower. Because the amounts can fluctuate, they are not included in our plan pricing listed on our website and marketing commercials. For any concerns on the amount of taxes, we do recommend reaching out to your local ********** If anything changes in the future, we would love to work with you again.Review fromDoug H

1 starI have been with Consumer Cellular for many years and have watched customer service tank as they got bigger. I have two 4 year old ******** phones that Consumer Cellular kept hounding me to upgrade my SIM cards. They told me my phones would not work after 2023 without the new SIM cards. After I relented and finally installed the new SIM cards my phones stopped working all together. When I called Consumer Cellular customer support I was told "were sorry" your phones don't work with the new SIM cards. You need to purchase new phones. When I questioned why I was hounded to install the new SIM cards the rep told me they have too many customers to know who has phones that won't work with the new SIM cards. After about 30 hours and after already purchasing new phones my old phones started working again sporadically and without voicemail. All voicemail messages were deleted. When I called Consumer Cellular they said "were sorry" when you change SIM cards all voice mail messages are deleted. Consumer Cellular didn't tell me any of this ahead of time, they only keep saying "were sorry" after it is too late. They bricked my two existing phones forcing me to purchase new phones and deleted all my voice mail messages. Consumer Cellular customer support has gone from being one of the best to being one of the worst.Consumer Cellular

Thank you for your feedback. We do apologize for the situation and experience you have had. Consumer Cellular is transitioning fully to the AT&T network to ensure that we provide our customers with the fastest data speeds and high quality calls provided by AT&T. Customer on our ******** network required new SIM Cards for the switch or their service would stop working at the end of 2023. When a line/phone number switches towers, it sadly does delete any saved voicemails from the old mailbox. We are sorry that this information was not provided. We will escalate this information to the appropriate department for review and additional training. As the old phones are now working properly, if you decide to return the new phones for a refund, please contact our U.S.based customer service at the number above and we will be happy to assist you.Review fromRobert S

1 starOn September 22, 2023, at approximately 12:45 PM, CST, I could NOT log in to my Consumer Cellular account as the website has apparently changed. I called their 800 number three times only to be hung up on twice, and only able to receive a poorly designed menu of options,; none of which provided any HELP. I am not able to log in to my account online, and was seeking a remedy that was not to be.As far as I know, Consumer Cellular, as of September 22, 2023 has;1. gone out of business, or 2. No longer wishes to engage with their consumers This is extremely poor business practice. No other option was provided by Consumer Cellular.I do NOT recommend them at this point in time for lack of prompt or failed customer service. If I could give less than one star, I would. This is not what I signed up for more than five years ago. This has been written in frustration and anger with automated phone systems !Review fromKaryn M

2 starsConsumer Cellular advertises for seniors, however are very unfriendly when dealing with elderly with no internet access. When my father became unable to keep the bill paid, I found it extremely difficult to keep it going for him despite eventually having him give verbal approval for me to handle it as well as my POA. Now he has passed and I simply want the phone to remain operable for my mothers use. Im asked to jump through ridiculous hoops just to pay the bill, which is all Ive ever tried to do. So ** told the account will be suspended and thats fine. I cant continue to fight with this. I will find another way to maintain phone access for her. *********************, for *************************Consumer Cellular
