On 8.13.25, I bought $33 of gas at QuikTrip using pay-at-the-pump. Without warning, they placed a $132 hold on my debit card in addition to charging the $33, leaving me without access to my own money and causing my account to overdraft. When I called, staff were condescending and implied I should keep an extra $150 in my account just to use their pumps. This practice is abusive, exclusionary, and financially dangerous. Holding funds beyond the actual purchase is unacceptable and should be stopped immediately. I strongly suspect QuikTrip profits from these limbo funds through interest or other financial activities. I want them to end excessive holds, release them instantly after purchase, and clearly disclose hold amounts before transactions.Business Response

For PIN Debit cards used at the ****** a $100 preauthorization is sent to the issuing bank to make sure funds are available in the account before turning on the pump. As soon as the customer finishes pumping, ****************** sends the actual transaction amount through the system. The actual amount replaces the $100 hold for pre-authorization. Although QuikTrip sends the actual charge immediately, some banks leave the pre-authorized $100 hold in place for several hours or longer. QuikTrip has no control over how long each bank keeps the hold in place on a customer's account. For questions regarding the transaction please call me at ************.

I went to the quick trip on ***************** off 64 in the ******* area in ************. I went to to check my lottery tickets at the machine but they wouldn't scan. I went to the cashier to let them know it's not scanning and see if they can scan my ticket. They wouldn't scan either at the register. I believe the Man who assisted me was maybe a manager and this occurred 7/28 around 530pm. He proceeded to scan they not scanning and there's and he proceeded to say there's nothing he can do about it. I ask him if he can input the numbers and he stated he cannot to cash them in. I didn't feel like arguing with someone about something I know is not true so I went to the Quick trip on ******** off highway 44 and ask the cashier if he can check my tickets by manually inputting the numbers because they are not scanning and he did with no problem. I had about 7 tickets that wasn't scanning and only two where winners. I was never able to check to see if they were winners or not because I was never able to scan them myself at kiosk or the lottery app. I don't understand why at ****** location the cashier was so rude about it. I don't know if he was having a bad day, hate lottery or just didn't know that he could. Either way he was very rude about it.Customer Answer

Pre-authorization was used to receive fuel only for a hold to be placed and no fuel was sold. As well told it could take up to 30days to release funds although no product was received.Business Response

When I removed the nozzle from pump 13, gasoline spewed out, covering my feet, shorts, and hands. After pumping gas, I returned the nozzle, but it kept leaking, and the meter showed it was still slowly pumping. Unsure if the sale had ended or the pump had malfunctioned, I went inside to report it.The attendant said they knew pump 13 always did that and that there was nothing they could do. On July 8, I purchased gas at a Quiktrip located on *************/*********************** in *******. That station, from experience, is riddled with issues. The first is the lack of space around the pumps and the way cars have to line up and maneuver around each other. It is chaotic and dangerous. When I finally found a pump, a small sign indicated it was out of order. So I had to locate another. It seemed to work, but as I was pumping the gas, it would not shut off. It kept going and going, and I had to manually and frantically cut it off by fiddling with the lever. Scary and dangerous. It was pump 10 -- I took a pic. I wanted to buy only $30 worth of gas, but because the pump cutoff did not work properly, I spent far more -- $45. Again, dangerous AND not fair. I tried to call for an attendant, but no one came, so I went inside the station. I saw only one employee, and he was behind the counter, and there was a very long line of people making purchases. Hence I left. Also, by the way, I wanted a receipt, but the machine failed to print one. Another mess. On July 9 and 10, I called customer service at ******************** to speak to someone about my experience. One time, no one answered. The second time, a woman answered. She told me she was not in customer relations and said she would pass me to that department. She came back to say that everyone was in a 'meeting' and to leave a message. I did, but to date no reply. What a mess this company is. No maintenance, no safety, no customer service.Business Response

On 5/5/25 at 7:02 pm I purchased ****** gallons of diesel fuel from pump 14 at the ********************* located at **************************************************************. The following morning my vehicle would not start and had to be towed to a mechanic shop. The shop called me and informed me that I had contaminated fuel in my tank. They stated that my engine was damaged and needed to be towed to a diesel mechanic After inspecting the vehicle the diesel mechanic also stated the vehicle had contaminated fuel. On 5/6/25 I contacted the store where diesel was purchased and was given a corporate # to file a fuel service report. I was told that as soon as I filled out the forms it would be turned over to a claims office. Today my vehicle has still not been repaired and I have not been contacted by the claims office. I have called several times and keep getting different answers as to why my information has not even been sent to the claims office. The vehicle can be repaired for $13000.00 -$16000.00. I was then told the mechanic would have to be *** certified, This mechainc is AED certified which is more specific to diesel engines I was told that that would not work with Quiktrip policy. I was told to contact a large dealership that had *** certified mechanics. The dealership will only replace not repair the motor. To replace the motor I was given an estimate of $46000.00. I have sent all the estimates my gas receipts and all reports they have asked for to Quiktrip. I was told that this is a reimbursement program and they would not make a decision to pay until all the repairs have been completedBusiness Response

Please find our response regarding the complaint submitted by ***************** related to a fuel purchase on May 5, 2025, at QuikTrip Store #**** (***********************************************
Mr. Browdek initially filed a ************ Report (FSR) on May 7, 2025, submitting receipts and an estimate from ********************. The form was returned for missing signature/date and resubmitted completed on May 14, 2025. He later submitted a new estimate from Cutthroat Performance totaling $13,105.20, along with updated mileage and towing receipts. The technicians certification provided was AFD, which does not meet our policy requiring ***-certified or dealership repair documentation.
Despite multiple reminders,Mr. Browdek expressed concern about using a dealership but agreed to seek an updated estimate. In our last conversation on June 23, he requested a written guarantee of payment, mentioned consulting legal counsel, and was informed that further communication would need to go through the appropriate legal channel.
As of now, we have received no additional updates from Mr. ******** This matter has been forwarded to our *********************** for continued handling and review.Initial Complaint

I used quicktrip pay on Monday 06.23.25 for $31.00 in gas at the pump. My banking account has the funds. Today is wed 06.25.25 and I get a call and an email from a collection agency. The payment never was attempted to be taken out of the account. Now they're attempting to charge me $53.00 for $31.00 in gas that they never attempted to take out of my account. The Quick Trip located at ********************************************** charged my husband for gas plus an additional $175.00. When we called to question it, we were told that they place a hold (they werent sure what amount) and it would fall off at the end of the week. That amount was not an authorized charge and my husband used a debit card. The gas charge cleared out checking account immediately. There is absolutely not reason to place a hold.Business Response

I went into Quick Trip for a couple of items. However, before leaving Quick Trip's. I decided to fill up a gallon container with water among a few selections provided at Quick Trip's water dispensers right along side of the building. Unfortunately, water availability did not subsist at any of their selected dispensers which has been previously available.Inserting a quarter and losing twenty five cents, over-and-over is not the issue, but rather, efforts to communicate this with someone onsite to make some sense in perspective of catastrophic weather.Why would a loyal customer or nearby resident have to encounter this during perhaps, the most hottest periods in the year?I absolutely do not find any humor in the matter, but rather, unworthy community leadership.I understand, QT (QuikTrip) is a BBB accredited company , specifically the QuikTrip Corporation.
