Worst decision we even made this far My fiance was slammed into a month ago the other party accepted full responsibilities they totaled out the car and only authorized a rental for 3 days since the car was new they coverd the car but left. Us out to suffer and deal with the other parties insurance alone it's been a month and no one will answer our calls or emails. She lost her job. This isn't Insurance. It might as well be a gap coverageRoot Response

My car was stolen February 14 and I have full coverage with Root. My claims agent, **** *****t said it was a total loss and the claim was assigned to ***** ****. ***** said the car was "recovered" four hours away from me, but refused to tell the towing company the car was released back to me. ***** also said an adjuster saw the car and it was fine. The claim was then assigned to A month later, I had to pay $2600 storage and towing fees (extortion fees) for a totaled car. I had to pay for my car to be towed to an automechanic and ***** ******. ***** said he sent an adjuster to look at the, even though the mechanic never heard from Root. ***** said the car was a total loss and my claim was then sent back to ***** ****. It's April 9, and my claim has not been settled. Each agent sends me to the other agens and ***** refuses to answer calls or emails. **** ******, ***** **** and ***** ****** all know they are liars and thieves. **** told me she knew all there is to know about insurance and I had to pay my premium each month or I won't get anything. I continue to pay for Root insurance on the chance they might settle my claim. I'm out $18,000 for the car, $2600 on extrotion fees, my insurance premium of $1200/ 6 months and thousands of dollars in **** and **** rides because I do not have a car. These people should be in prison.Review from Samantha L

My vehicle was involved in an accident on March 8, 2024 and we have been given nothing but the run around since that time. My current agent is **** **********, and this is our first claim with the company. Our vehicle had not even been appraised and we were told it was a total loss by our adjustor in Columbus, Ohio and we are located in ********** ********** When we pointed out to the adjuster that no one had been to the body shop to appraise the damage we were sent an email stating once again that the appraisal would be done. It has still been another week and no such appraisal has been done and the body shop manager has already made his own appraisal, going so far as to contact our agent with the estimate and still getting no response. My family has been without a vehicle for two weeks and the repairs have not even began. This is becoming a dire situation and we have not had any open and honest dialogue with the company. Even now I have been on hold for and hour with the cooperate line and have left a multitude of voicemails with my agent, including one today. This is deplorable service and as a manger in the cusomer service industry, completely unacceptable. If this persisists my family will be forced to seek legal counsel.Root Response

Terrible service. Root insured driver hit my vehicle in a parking lot over a week ago. Been playing phone tag with their claims specialist, but all told me is that he is busy, and will get to me. Now 9 days since incident and have no idea where we are in the process.Root Response

This is the worst insurance company I have ever gone with! I'm not going to be monitored while I drive and be charged different amounts each month that are higher than the previous ones. You're overcharging your customers monthly. This is the worst automobile insurance company I've ever chosen, just to let you know. Be aware when you join this company that you're going to have a different amount each month for your bill. It will never be the same; they continuously overcharge you. I highly do not recommend them. DONT GET ROOT INS!!!Root Response

Hi, Stacey. That doesn't sound like the experience we want for you. Just to clarify, if you were offered insurance from day one so that you could take the test drive while covered by Root, it's possible for your final rate to go up, down, or stay the same (if we can continue insuring you) for the remainder of that policy period. If you are seeing your rate change more frequently than that, it could be due to changes you've made to your policy or coverages. If you have questions about a payment, you can review past payments by tapping "Payments," then "View payment history" in the Root app. You can also reach our customer support team at [email protected].Review from Margaret M

Root is the most absolute worst car insurance! They are scammers and will take your money! DO NOT BUY A POLICY WITH ROOT! They make you pay for a policy then force you to participate in a “test drive” to rate your driving without your consent and then cancel your policy right afterwards. Root is very unreliable when you do have an active policy. Unless you’re involved in a car accident, they won’t even give you a rental car while your is in the shop for repairs. Whats the point in paying additional money every month for “rental” to be a part of your policy if you cannot even use it? Thankfully I switched to a better insurance company that has way more benefits to offer and that DOES give you a rental regardless of the situation.Root Response

No one is available to handle my claim. One adjuster is out for a week and no one else can answer questions or help. I had an accident 4 days ago and I still have not spoken to anyone from Root. When it happened I was told to get the root app. Every One seems to have a middle eastern accent.Root Response

IT IS A SCAM!!! I paid $625.99 to start and was giving a monthly rate of $377.29 then I was told that I could do a drivers test to get “DISCOUNTS”. On all sections of the tests I did either “Great” or “GOOD” then the next month my insurance went up $156.18 without me being aware, until it came out of my account I talked with Abby from Root Insurance customer service. She couldn’t get me to a supervisor, and I ended up getting no help and says that there is only one number. She wouldn’t give me a last name and offered to get someone to call back in 1-2 business days, so I called back and spoke with a guy Luis. Luis says the same thing. Only that the driving test results made my insurance go up and a letter was sent to my house on January, 31. But they had no access to the test driver results. Working long hours out of town I never received the notice by mail or email. I’m sure this violates consumer rites. In less than 3 months I’ve paid $1,536.75 for one car and can’t call anyone. I WANT ALL MY MONEY BACK!Root Response

Hi, Ankoma. We did the math and it’s true, some customers can save hundreds on their rate compared to their previous policy. If you were offered insurance on day one so that you could complete our test drive, you may notice that your rate changed after your driving results were in. We're sorry for any disappointment with your final rate and we appreciate you giving Root a try. Based on your review, it sounds like you've been in touch with our customer support team already. Please feel welcome to reach back out to them at [email protected] if you have any outstanding questions or concerns.Review from Caitlin H

If I could give 0 stars I would!! We just joined Root a month ago because they had the best rate for us. About a week ago someone side swiped our car. We have been working with an adjuster to try to help with this whole process and it's been the worst customer service. He's been out of the office and did not give us anyone to contact to help while he's not there..we've called the claims department over and over again the last few days to try to get someone to help us and all we keep getting is sent to voicemails or they send messages to people who are supposed to call us back but never do. I have never dealt with this kind of horrible customer service and WE are paying THEM!!!! Will be cancelling our policy.Root Response
