1 starI'm filing a complaint because they took advantage of my Vietnam Veteran dad and charged him nearly $800 for replacing a garbage disposal. Even when I called Roto Rooter they said the job only took just over and hour. It's unfortunate that senior citizens are still targeted by businesses like this and take advantage of the elderly. I warn you DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. I'm also filing a complaint with the base near us to not do any business with these crooks.Review fromSteven W

1 starOn a Saturday in March 2024 I noticed a leak under our kitchen sink. I knew it was new because I’m under there at least twice a day. My husband called Roto-Rooter and they said they could come that day - no extra weekend charge. A fellow showed up and came in then said ‘I’m not the plumber’ and mumbled something about being an inspector or something. He had a light on his headband and a little gadget he said measured ‘dampness & water damage’. He moved this around the cabinet floor under the sink and it beeped on the part where I had just dried up a bit of water a couple hours prior. I had used maybe a dozen (half sized Bounty) paper towels and told him so. It did not beep in every area of the cabinet floor nor when he placed it several times on the side of the cabinet between the cabinet floor and the stone floor. After about a minute or so he said ‘yeah, so there’s a lot of water damage and this will start at $1500 up to around $4000 and take 3-5 days with our machines.’ What I thought is not what I, nor my husband, said we simply invited him to leave and showed him the way. My husband then cancelled the plumber who was next to arrive. Seriously?! We could replace the entire cabinet, sink, faucets, and pipes for less! We reached out, in hope, to our old plumber who had been out of town for an extended period of time and thankfully he answered. Our plumber determined there was in fact NO damage, our dispose-all simply gave up the ghost, yes he had one in his truck, and no problem to replace it. The total including the new dispose-all was $250. Roto-Rooter CLEARLY tried to scam us. My husband is considered ‘elderly’ as he is in his 70s so this will also be reported to local law enforcement as possible elder scamming. 1 starI called this company to snake my bathroom tub drain, what should have been a simple fix and the result was a torrential downpour in my dining room below and water pouring out of my sliding glass door. I have had to have the ceiling in my dining room cut out as a result of this incompetent employee. I am now trying to get my sliding glass door repaired or replaced as it has warped along with other damage. Trying to work with this company is a nightmare as no one will return a call for days if at ALL! You have no one person that is a contact person to speak with, yet all of the initial damage and response you had with them has been relayed to numerous people. Typical passing the buck to deflect. I implore the public to avoid this company and seek out individual repairmen that could do nothing worse than this company's response to my issue. BUYER BEWARE! Do research for reviews prior to calling someone.Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

5 starsDO NOT REQUEST FOR SEWER DRAINAGE OR CONTRACT WITH ROTO ROOTER, UNTIL YOU CHECK YOUR LOCAL BBB; THEY HAVE EMPLOYEE SCAMS, ALL SET UP TO HAVE TO DIG UP YOUR BASEMENT CONCRETE FLOOR OR YOUR YARD,IN MULTIPLE AREAS SEEKING A CLEANOUT LOCATION IN YOUR SEWER PIPES. . ITS A CON GAME TO THEM , WE USED THEM ONCE AND ATTEMPTED AGAIN, TO FIND THESE THOUGHTS, OHIO BBB SHOWS OVER 700 COMPLAINTS. WE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH *** **** BUILDING DEPT. WITH EMAILS CORRESPONDENCE AND PHOTOS. IF YOU DECIDE TO GO WITH ROTO-ROOTER, PLEASE TAKE PICS OF EVERY MOVE THEY MAKE AND IF YOU CAN RECORD THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS,PLEASE DO FOR YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS. I ASKED A SECOND PLUMBING COMPANY TO COME OUT TO RUN A CAMERA IN THE SEWER PIPE ,THERE WAS NO BLOCKAGE!, ROTO ROOTER SERVICE TEAM SAID IT WAS BLOCKED WITH BABY WIPES AND TAMPONS AND COULD BE 10 FT OF BLOCKAGE. THE STOPPAGE WAS DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF MY TV ,IN BASEMENT THE FLOOR WAS CARPETED THROUGH OUT. RR SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO DIG THERE TO UNBLOCK SEWER OR POSSIBLY OUTSIDE., THEY DECIDED TO DIG OUTSIDE ON LAWN,THEY BROKE ALL PIPES WITH BACK HOE, WHEN THE CLEANOUT WAS LESS THAN A FOOT UNDER THE GROUND, HAD TO REPLACE NEW PVC PIPE FIVE FEET INTO GROUND WITH RUBBER SLEEVE. THEN COMMENCED TO DIG TWO MORE HOLES, WE STOPPED THE DIG AFTER THEY WERE COMPLETED WITH THE SECOND HOLE. THEY HAD ALREADY CLEANED OFF THE THIRD HOLE TO THE CLEANOUT, WHEN I STOPPED THEM AND TOLD THEM TO GET OFF THE PROPERTY. FOR THIS MADNESS THEY CHARGED ME $12,512.33,WHICH I GAVE HIM A CHECK FOR THE FULL AMOUNT. ROTO ROOTER SERVICE EMPLOYEES PUT THE FEAR IN US, THAT WE COULD NOT USE OUR FACILITIES, FOR A DAY OR SO TO UNBLOCK, WE WERE THINKING OF A PORTA POTTY AND SINK OR RENTING HOTEL ROOMS. COULDN'T COOK OR WASH DISHES OR TAKE A PEE, POO ,ETC. WHAT HELPED ME, WAS MY 25 YEARS IN THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM ;I STOPPED PAYMENT. WE MAY ASK OUR LOCAL POLICE DEPT TO FILE AN ATTEMPT FRAUD ,BECAUSE OF THEIR ACTIONS AND WRITTEN CONTRACT DESCRIPTIONS. **** ******* ************* *HIOReview fromMike S

1 starThey clear a clogged drain, and a day later at clogged again. They charged me for the second cleaning as well. See their below response, I was subsequently contacted by their HQ and they promised to have someone reach out. I never heard from anyone after repeated emails. This is just a game they play to make it look like they take customer feedback seriously or care about providing good service. Read the **** reviews, it says it all.Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

I've already reached out to you several times and no one has contacted me. This is your canned response to all negative reviews to make it look like you will actually resolve poor customer service issues. I stand by my negative review and will not recommend your services to anyone.Review fromRichard A

1 starI should have looked at these reviews before hiring them. Now I know why they have a 1.94 rating. Every thing was fine even the overpricing of the job did not bother me as long as they were going to do what they said. When the crew told me they were not going to hydro jet the old pipe before lining it and remove the roots that would be extra I told the crew the boss man told me that was part of the job. Then and only after talking with the boss did they do the hydro jet to clean the old pipe before lining it, and removing the roots. That was all part of the job, why would you leave roots in the line after doing all that work? At that point they lost all trust. I am sorry I ever hired roto-rooter, it will never happen again. The replaced concrete is not to code, should be at least 3 1/2 inches thick, I bet its not 2 inches thick, I'm going to drill several holes and show it to the building inspector.Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

1 starRoto-Rooter made three attempts to remove a blockage that was causing a sewer back-up. All failed to adequately locate the blockage and stop the sewage back-up that would re-occur in less than 24 hours after each service call. The camera work was not done at any of the three service calls as promised. The techicians who were doing the repair had no images to work from so were at a disadvantage. The camera work was done after the third service call but was not conclusive since it did not locate the blockage in the J trap since they did not look there. They looked to the right (interior to house) and to the left (exterior to street) of the J-trap but not in the J-trap. They wanted an additional $600.00 over the $755.59 already paid to them to continue the work. I decided to wait since it was more than I could afford at the time. The blockage was not found so I requested a full refund or at least 50% of my expense. Roto-Rooter would not refund 1 penny and only wanted to tear out the main sewer pipes in my house and replace the J-trap that would cost thousands of dollars. I needed to think about such a large expense but on my own after their attempts I found the blockage to be in the J-trap. I used my own snake and was able to adequated remove the blockage and now have not had any back-ups for almost two months. I believe I fixed the problem without their help so should be entitled to a refund.Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

5 starsI'm an experience difficulty with Roto-Rooter. Greg g******* he quote me $5,500 then he quote me $10,000 then he quote me $20,000. Now he keeps changing his mind. It's the sewer system from the road to the house. I agree to the 5500 which I am going to pay. He keeps texting me and begging me for the money. I have never got a receipt. Never signed. No receipt and I heard he is a scam artist trying to take you for your money. I also heard the place is up for sale for $315,000 and he left the place a mess which I'm going to have to clean up. I would never ever hire him. Roto-Rooter used to be such a good company. The people are running it down. That's sad. Thanks for listening
