1 starWe had a category III water loss. Let me count (some of) the ways in which the laborers, project manager, area general manager and accounts receivable deceived us.1) Improper and only partial containment/barriers/airlocks performed- thus further aerosolizing contamination throughout our home.2) Informing us of "zoned losses" category III loss near the toilet and a larger zone category II loss because it was "filtered by wood floor underlayment"-Leading us to over 2K in inappropriate charges fro the misinformation they gave us. 2) Not thoroughly scanning the home for initial damage. Rooms adjacent to the loss were ignored since they were tile (and I suspect they did not want the challenge of removing tile)3) After 3 attempts allowed at cleaning our home- debris from the water fall, dust, staining, and a strong odor remains- They did a very unimpressive and unprofessional job.4) Toilet drain and sink drain were not sealed- allowing sewer gases to leach into our home 5) Billing us/insurance for rooms that were not demolished/cleaned, significant mis-measurement of square footage and linear footage of things like insulation, hard wood floor removal, and baseboard and trim (to name just a few)6) The general area manager schedule a meeting with me and some of the team members to go line item by line item over my concerns. He did not show to the meeting and I was told this was not possible due to their accounts receivable person since we filed a claim with insurance they would only negotiate concerns with the insurance, not the client who hired them. 7) Pictures taken to submit to insurance were extremely misleading. Majority of the pictures were taken in an area where no direct Cat III water fell to make their job look better to insurance than was actually done.We were under duress coming home to a complete mess and thought we were calling in a professional crew- they were anything but.Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

2 starsI accidentally hit my water line going into the house. I had to shut off the water at the curb. Called RR and was quoted a 4 hour window. Close to the 4 hour a Vietnamese? tech came out. I told him I wanted the shut off valve replaced as well as replumbling a 2 foot pvc line. He went to his truck and came back with a $780 qoute. OUCH!! The water was shut off to the house and I had to accept "under protest". He was done in under 2 hours. I believe a 400-500 dollar price is more appropriate since it was on a Saturday! GOUGING!! 1 starReceived an email from Roto-Rooter containing a $200 off coupon. I had them come out to perform a service but was told that they would not honor the coupon. They claimed that it was not sent from them. I forwarded the email to their office, and after a day, they replied that the phone number and email address used were not correct. However, I had used that same phone number to contact them, so it was legit. Also the email address is the same address I receive all correspondence from them. In fact it was the same address they used to confirm my appointment and the send me a thank you email. After I pointed this out to them, I never heard back.
There were no "clickable" links in the email, so I don't think it was a scam. Further, what type of scammer sets out to make money for Roto-Rooter?Review fromJacob T

1 starIs it possible to shut them down? Service technician shows up over one hour late and offers no explanation or apology. Then he lets himself into my home and then starts walking around opening doors instead of just asking where the main line access point was located. Then he opens different pipe and just spills water everywhere with no intent of cleaning it up. The price he offers for the job is 2x market. The only reason I even called was because the local plumbers needed an extra day to come. I just can’t imagine how many people they rip off. What a bunch of unprofessional scam artists. Please revoke their business license.Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

1 starWe recently used Roto Rooter to mitigate a compromised sewer pipe that caused severe damages to our home. Throughout the process, we were misled into believing that Roto Rooter was here to help and had our best interest in mind. They assured us they would handle everything with our insurance claim, but instead, we faced severe delays in getting the mitigation work done. The work performed was far below industry standards, leaving our home unsafe with loose staples and nails sticking up everywhere. To make matters worse, Roto Rooter left behind sewer water-damaged items, forcing us to live with contaminated belongings.Roto Rooter does not care about their customers; they only care about getting their money. They used aggressive and unethical bullying tactics to force us to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket, despite promising to work directly with our insurance provider. We even connected Roto Rooter with our claim adjuster to expedite the process, but they continued their unethical behavior, threatening to put a lien on our property and take us to collections. This, despite knowing our insurance provider is going to pay them.We also disputed a line item on the invoice, providing evidence that the Roto Rooter team did not perform the work they claimed. Yet, they still insisted on bullying us to pay the original amount. They still have not rectified the disputed item. Roto Rooter is a completely unethical company. Their actions are not just unprofessional but downright deceitful and predatory.Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

1 starI liked that it was easy to book online. There is a two hour window for booking the appointment. I picked 4-6pm. Of course he shows up right before 6pm. After looking at the valve he says he has to go out to get one. (I really thought they traveled with the basic plumbing supplies in their trucks) Changing the tub faucet and valve under the bathroom sink was quoted at over $1000. I felt they were price gouging me. This is how they treat a new customer? I used to think ********************** was a reputable company. They were when I lived in the *******. Not in *******. Beware.Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

1 starOn 5-23-24, I used Roto Rooter when my water heater broke. The heater has been replaced. I was contacted by another Roto Rooter employee who was with their water mitigation department. There was a bit of water left behind from the heater being removed. I thought it was relatively a small matter. The next day when the workers came, they treated the whole basement. The area affected wasn't the entire basement. The area no more that 30" 60". When I received the invoice it was for $4,148. My insurance is another $500. The workers arrived at 1:30pm. I returned from work at 2:45pm. The workers were finished by the time I got home. They left seven blowers to dry the area before they left. When the techs fixed the heater on Sunday I was with them in the basement the whole time. We weren't wading in water. The workers who were there on Monday took pics wearing protective gear.Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

1 starTwo concerns. Nothing to resolve. Just a watch-out for others.1. When I called to have my home sewer drain unclogged the company refused to give me an estimate of the charges. But when the technician arrived to do the work he immediately told me the standard fee. It was more than another company quoted me but since the technician was at my home I had him do the work. I was disappointed that he spent a long time, nearly two hours, clearing the drain and had to call for assistance from another technician.2. A bigger concern was that the second technician came and did a video camera inspection of my drain line. He said there was a break in the drain pipe outside my house and that they could patch it for about $6,000. He could not explain to my satisfaction why the blockage I had was in the middle of my home and the rest of the drain was working fine. Because I didn't agree to drain line repair they said they would not guarantee their work to clear the blockage. I contacted another company who did a video camera inspection and they found no problem all the way the sewer near my street.Review fromSalah E

1 starIn an effort to keep this short and concise: we had a leak under a sink in a wet bar area of the house. A technician came by to fix the leak. The sink started leaking again in the same area a week or two later. A separate technician came out to make the final repair. The repair was for the SAME sink in the wet bar. Neither technician spoke virtually any English and we found out that we were charged for two service calls for the same issue due to the first technician writing in the notes that he repaired a kitchen sink leak while the second technician wrote that it was in a bar sink. After having multiple calls with the billing department about this, they said they would talk to the tech's; who by their their own admission do not speak much English, to find out if they could clarify the location of the leak.It has been multiple weeks and the billing department has ceased to answer any of my calls or voicemails. They have charged us twice for the same issue and now refuse to admit their mistake and rectify the situation. I have used Roto-Rooter in the past and their work is usually good, but this service experience is too typical of a company who does not care about anything except their profit. It says enough when they do not return four voicemails in two weeks from a customer. They won't care about this review, but hopefully it will help someone else who has a similar experience.Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

1 starWhat a nightmare, RotoRooter charged $800 for incorrect and incomplete performance that resulted in a recommendation for a repair costing several thousand dollars. I had an issue with water backing up when the toilet flushed. The first RR technician pulled the toilet because he was inexperienced and unable to find the main cleanout. This 'extra service' cost a $150 premium. After thirty minutes the tech claimed his cabling was successful and left. Two weeks later I called RR again for the same issue. This time the tech promised that a camera crew will come to inspect for the real problem. I never heard a response from RR for scoping until shortly before I started this review. Several weeks later, after some heavy rains, sewage again frequently backed up into the house. I called RR again. This time a much more competent tech arrived and immediately located the sewer cleanout at the front of the house. He spends an adequate amount of time attempting to locate the clog in the lateral. He is convinced of a total lateral compromise and recommends the Sewer Lateral Repair Program (SLRP), a very costly undertaking. He scoped the fully charged lateral with inconclusive results at a cost of $200. The back office required over four days to complete the required two page SLRP application. During this excessive waiting period I found a preeminent St. Louis ***** ******* company that effected a repair before RR could even complete the paperwork. Within 15 minutes of arrival the company found that RR missed a second cleanout in the lateral which is what RR thought to be the compromise. In less than forty-five minutes the contractor had completely cleared and scoped the entire lateral, a task RR failed to accomplish in six weeks. RR mistake wasted $800 and had I followed the recommended expensive replacement would have cost several thousand more. RR needs to provide better training to their techs.
