1 starTotal scam. Lied about someone being 30-40 minutes away repeatedly throughout the day. Original time window was in the morning. Arrived after 5 pm. Quoted nearly $580 to use a snake on a slow drain. Tried to negotiate and he dropped the price a little. I can hold my own when people try to take advantage of me but I’m furious I lost a day waiting. Over 60 female an easy target?Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

1 starThe technician no-showed our originally agreed upon appointment window. After I called the dispatcher to get an update, they promised the tech would be there in 30 minutes. After 45 minutes, no update. I called again, and the dispatcher handed me off to a different person, who transferred my call to a third person. After getting passed around like a hot potato, the third person said it would probably take another 45 minutes for the tech to show up. Unreliable, unprofessional.Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

1 starI had a Tech come out to fix a leak on my hot water valve She told me I would need valve replacement both hot and cold. I agreed with her and she charged me 731 dollars. After she installed both the hot valve continued to leak a little she then went back in to look at it. She claimed it was fixed. Later that day, I heard water hissing and the valve started dripping again into my basement. I know I have to call a plumber again and I would like a refund and not have a tech come out for another rip-off I called a plumber in and in 1 minute he found a cracked nut that Roto-Rooter should have detected. Prices are way too high for this type of work! REFUND PLEASE!Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

1 star11/11/2024 Here is a personal review from yesterday's experience. Please do not use Roto Rooter ever for anything. We had our water heater stopped working. Heather and I both looked online how to fix it. It was the thermocupler that needed to be sanded down. So I did the work I had set up the appointment the day before because I didn't think sanding it down would work. But when it came time to screw the gas pipe back into the pilot neither Heather or I could do it for some reason. Well fast forward to today this morning this company shows up and take 3 minutes to screw it in tell me wife we were just so close and that will be 298.000..... are you freaking kidding me I called them at the shop to even at least pay for this guys full tank of gas whatever like 100 bucks tops for making a call. No they offered me 25% off my next plumbing adventure as long as we used them again. You can't seriously think I would ever use you again for 3 minutes of work and 300.00 after I did all the **** work. So roto rooter is complete and utter garbage. But Mr. Rooter now that is a company I highly recommend. Espically Charlie R*** if you get the opportunity to request him. This man took his time solved a bunch of issues the last time we needed any plumbing and made sure we were paying any crazy ass prices. But that's my rant for awhile just shitty business practices.Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

1 starI would not recommend Roto-Rooter to anyonebto save the headache they only added onto for me. 2 days after buying a house my water heater went down. I called Roto-Rooter asked if they service water heaters and l was scheduled for someone to come out Monday between 8 and 10. I got multiple calls saying he was on the way he would be here in 30 minutes and no one showed up. When I called to let them know I had multiple calls saying someone was on their way and no one has showed up I was told he was on his way he would be here in 30 mins. When I asked why I got multiple calls saying he was on his way if he wasn't but was hung up on. I waited the 40 plus a few extra minutes (1140 at this point) I called told them no one has showed up cancel whatever is going on at that point he was in the area, but at the wrong house saying he couldn't find my house, but no one ever called to figure out where I am.When he got in he sat beside the water heater looked up a few things made a phone call to tell me it was a bad pilot assembly said it would cost 900 for the part and labor and started to ramble off having to drain the tank ect said he was going to grab tools to check something may be an easy fix but as far as I know didn't. Later that day I found out the most the part was going to cost was 85$ and the tank didn't need drained to do it, but it was changed out and wasn't even the problem. The problem was with the gas valve which if he would have done a thorough check I wouldn't have wasted money on parts and labor I didn't need and got what I did need.Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

1 starI hired Roto-Rooter to repair a leaking faucet on my bathtub. When the plumber arrived, he seemed unsure about the job, which didnt inspire much confidence, but I decided to let him work. After watching him, I felt he probably had some plumbing experience. He ended up running to ********** for parts and replaced the cartridges in both valves. He mentioned that if this didnt fix the problem, the valves would need a full replacement, which would require breaking out the surrounding tile to access them. I paid him $700, and he left.A week later, both valves started leaking again. He came back and claimed to have fixed the issue, but he warned that Id probably need to replace the valves eventually. The hot water valve was very stiff to turn but worked for a few more months. When the hot water wouldnt shut off, I called Roto-Rooter again. They scheduled a visit but didnt show up. After multiple attempts to reach them, they finally agreed to come around noon the next day. I wasnt home, so I asked them to coordinate with my mother-in-law. They then called her, saying they were three hours away and wouldnt come unless she paid more upfront, speaking to her rudely. We ultimately hired a licensed plumber who fixed the issue completely. The valve now works like new and he only charged $275. Based on this experience, I wouldnt recommend Roto-Rooter for plumbing repairs. They might be fine for drain work, but they dont seem qualified for more complex plumbing jobs, and I question whether the person they sent was a fully trained plumber.Review fromAdam Y

1 starI haven't been this disappointed with a national company's performance in a long time. We we're charged 3x what it cost to replace part of the main drain under the house (found this out much later after getting a second and 3rd opinion). The person that told us what the job would entail is not a licensed plumber. The company then subcontracted the job out to a company that doesn't seem to have pulled a proper permit with the city. A few days after the work was done we started experiencing the same plumbing problems we had before we called Roto Rooter! Another person from Roto Rooter came and ran a camera and said we also need to de-scale the pipe which could cost 5-10% of what the job we just paid for cost! We got the opinion of two separate licensed plumbers. One of which came to our house and ran a camera. He informed us that the new drain that Roto Rooter installed is back pitched and demonstrated it. He gave us a quote that included replacing all of the plumbing under the house for approximately the same amount Roto Rooter charged us for replacing a small section of the main drain under the house. We now have a huge bill from Roto Rooter and an unresolved plumbing problem. Call any other local reputable plumbing company to avoid this nightmare.Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

1 starMy wife and I are almost 80 years old. We had a sewer stop up last night. I called Roto Rooter and by the time they got here I had identifed the problem. It was outside in a 20ft piece of sewer line in the yard. The technician was here for about 30 minutes. He ran his snake in that line and that was the problem. He charged me $400. Then one of their front men showed to give me an estimate for the repair. He started at $2800, then offered $2400, and then $2000. I told him I would let him know. I then called a reputable plumber in **** *****, very nice people and received a bid of $1175 to make the repair. The front man with Roto Rooter named ***** claiming to be a plumber with very nice dress called and wanted the business. Called and called and then came by when I was gone for a little while. Called and was rude to me on the phone because I wasn't here to sign a contract which would liable me for the $2000. To me this is almost criminal and I could never refer anyone Roto Rooter. They're not even on BBB, but their score is 2 on a 5 scale. Don't call them ever.Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

1 starMy name is ***** ****** ************************************************************************ I'm 87 and feel Roto Rooter has take advantage of me. I live in a townhouse with another townhome attached. On April, 2024, my my neighbor had water damage and called Roto Rooter. She brought the supervisor over to see if I had any water damage. I did not. The Roto Rooter person asked to do a moisture reading and I agreed. He said the moisture reading was98%, and we needed to contact my insurance and file a claim. We called and the supervisor did all the taking. The supervisor did not tell me what should be done, what the cost would be and would it be alright if his ******* proceeded with doing the work. Had he asked if the ******* could proceed, I would have said NO. I always get second opinions before I allow work to be done at my home.. It was while the supervisor and I were in a different part of my house talking with the claims person, his ******* went ahead and cut out a large piece of my wall, placed 3 fans in my utility room, and bathroom, I was not aware of any of this happening. After the phone conversation with the claims person, I went downstairs to find what the ******* had done. The ******* asked me to sign their tablets. I asked why, and if I could see something in writing first? I was told that it was only to show what they had just completed, and they would e-mail me a copy. So, I unfortunately signed. This all happened to fast I didn't have time to think about the situation.Once I received the e-mail documents, the charge for this was $2,449.96. I told them I would not pay this as they needed to take this up with my neighbor's insurance. I was told it would not cost me anything and that insurance would pay. I have received phone calls threating that if I did not pay, they would turn this over to a collection agency or put a Lien on my property. This has been very stressful and I have lost a lot of sleep over this situation.Review fromwilliam N

1 starScheduled an appointment for this morning. Was given a quote of $1,800.00 for three hours of labor!!!! $600.00 an hour plus parts. I can have a new water heater put in for less money. When a customer calls, maybe you share you labor costs with them instead of wasting their $99.00 to come out. I will NEVER call this company again for service! How you stay in business with those prices is beyond belief.
