I need an update on payment to me, as you promised 3-4 days after completing the assessment, which I completed on REMOVED's now 9-1-2026. You explained last week that Data Annotation is behind in payments - That is collectively 'not our problem' - Speaking for EVERYONE that has not yet been paid. Timeline:8-6-2026: I completed the REMOVEDassessment, spending 8 hours on said assessment. You stated REMOVEDpays within 3-4 days of completing the assessment REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PASS SAID ASSESSMENT.8-10-2026: We spoke on the phone and I explained I still have not be paid.8-17-2026: After not hearing from you, I texted AND emailed you on this day. You asked if I had the correct email for my REMOVEDand did I check REMOVED(laughable questions, truly). YES OF COURSE I DID. You texted back again, stating something about the 'person in charge of this account.'REMOVED: No response from you to my email (trail below) so I emailed you again on August 19th. Last week: I texted you AGAIN, you never read that REMOVED9-1-2026: I called you, you did not answer. I texted you, and you immediately wrote back that you emailed me something 'a colleague said that should help.' The email you sent me today is instructing ME to chase down REMOVEDto get paid - You are kidding right????Initial Complaint

I worked as an independent contractor through DataAnnotation.tech and had a positive experience with the platform. I successfully completed numerous projects and previously received payments without issue.Immediately before my account was placed under review, DataAnnotation emailed me stating Great job and confirming that I had earned $2,889.86 the previous week. I also retained a photograph of my DataAnnotation dashboard showing $3,820.93 in total earnings since July 2026 and a completed payout of $941.07 for 105 REMOVEDaccount was then temporarily suspended pending review. DataAnnotation requested explanations for 15 time reporting entries. I completed and submitted all 15 explanations as requested, and the platform confirmed that my submission was successfully received and under review.Since then, I have been unable to access my dashboard or Funds page. Because my access was restricted, I cannot determine the exact amount of my remaining unpaid earnings. I have contacted DataAnnotation Support multiple times requesting an update regarding my review and earnings and asking whether additional documentation was needed. I have received no response for approximately two weeks.I understand that DataAnnotation may review contractor accounts and reported time, and I am willing to fully cooperate. However, I complied with every request and have received no communication regarding the outcome or payment for my completed work.I genuinely enjoyed working with DataAnnotation and would like to continue working on the platform if this matter is resolved. I am requesting completion of my review, a full accounting and payment of all eligible outstanding earnings, a written determination regarding my account, and restoration of my account.I have documentation supporting these statements and can provide it upon request.Initial Complaint

I am filing this complaint regarding the deactivation of my DataAnnotation account and my inability to obtain a clear explanation or meaningful review of the decision.I performed work through DataAnnotation and made a good-faith effort to follow the instructions and policies provided to me. My account was later deactivated without a specific explanation identifying what conduct or rule caused the decision.Because some project information is confidential, I cannot provide proprietary details publicly. However, the applicable guidance addressed the use of certain AI-assisted tools and included a process for workers to disclose their use. I followed that process and did not intentionally conceal or misrepresent my use of any tools.I personally reviewed the relevant source materials, checked the information I submitted, and made a good-faith effort to comply with the project requirements.I am concerned that my account may have been deactivated because of activity I reasonably understood to be permitted under the instructions provided to me. If so, I believe the decision deserves a manual review.I have attempted to contact DataAnnotation for clarification and review. I am not requesting special treatment, only that the decision be reviewed against the rules and instructions that applied to my work.If DataAnnotation believes I violated a different policy or requirement, I would appreciate being informed of the general nature of that REMOVEDrequested resolution is a manual review and reinstatement if the deactivation resulted from a misunderstanding or incorrect interpretation of my activity. If reinstatement is denied, I am requesting a general written explanation of the reason for the decision.Initial Complaint

On June 23, 2026, I completed both the Starter Assessment and Coding Starter Assessment for DataAnnotation.tech. Although both submissions appeared to be completed successfully, I have not received a decision, an expected review timeline, or any meaningful status update.I later submitted a support request under Onboarding or Account Status Starter Assessment Status, asking whether my assessments had been received and when I could expect an update. I have not received a response.I am concerned that applicants are asked to spend considerable time completing unpaid assessments without clear information about review timelines or whether unsuccessful applicants will be notified. I am not disputing a payment or requesting a criminal penalty.I am requesting written confirmation that both assessments were received, my current application status, a clear acceptance or rejection decision, and an explanation of the companys assessment-review and communication timeline.Initial Complaint

In April/May 2026, I completed a DataAnnotation project requiring contributors to upload personal financial records. Following instructions, I spent hours manually redacting personally identifiable information from at least 15 multi-page documents (bank statements, payroll, auto loans, credit cards, and utilities). Based on what I submitted, the project promised $400$600 in document-based compensation, plus hourly pay. While I received hourly pay, my account was deactivated shortly after submission; therefore, I was essentially denied the document payout.I received only the generic "death screen" citing quality concerns or terms of service violations, with zero specific details, evidence, or opportunity to appeal.DataAnnotation collected sensitive financial records under a payout promise, then cut off my platform access.Crucially, the project instructions state: All uploaded data will be stored securely... for a limited retention period. You will have the option to Opt Out at any time - during or after data upload - and your files will be removed...However, Section 4.3 of the consent form states model-training data may be retained indefinitely, and Section 5 states data added to datasets will not be deleted upon withdrawal. This directly contradicts the project's explicit opt-out promises. If my documents were retained or used, I expect the promised document-based compensation to be honored. If they were not used, I request verifiable confirmation that they were not retained or incorporated into any dataset. If DataAnnotation refuses to pay the promised compensation for retained or incorporated documents, I demand the immediate removal of all my files from all datasets, collections, and systems, along with proof of their prior use and written confirmation of deletion.Initial Complaint

I worked as an independent contractor for DataAnnotation.tech, performing AI evaluation and data annotation tasks. My account has been active since May 2026. This week my account was deactivated with a message stating it is "unavailable for new projects due to work below our customers' quality bar or a violation of our Terms of Service." No specific violation was identified and no explanation was REMOVEDthe time of deactivation, my dashboard showed $5,576.25 in earnings marked "pending approval" for work I completed and submitted. Because I am locked out of the platform, I cannot have this completed work reviewed and released for payout, and I have no way to resolve the status of these funds.I attempted to contact support through the platform but received no response. I was able to withdraw the $80 that had reached "available" status, which confirms my account and payout method were functioning normally and in good standing.Desired resolution: I am requesting that DataAnnotation.tech either (1) complete review of and release the $5,576.25 in earnings for work I completed and submitted prior to deactivation, or (2) provide a specific written explanation of the alleged Terms of Service violation, along with an opportunity to respond.Initial Complaint

Background / Description of the Issue:I am filing a formal complaint against Data Annotation (DataAnnotation.tech) regarding the unlawful withholding of finalized, approved compensation for services rendered.I worked as a remote independent contractor performing data annotation tasks for the company. In early June 2026, my account was suddenly suspended. The key factor in this dispute is that prior to the account suspension, the funds I am seeking had already been fully reviewed, verified, and marked as "Approved" and ready for withdrawal within the platform dashboard. Under the terms of our contract, these funds represent completed and accepted work, meaning this money belongs to me. The suspension of my platform account does not legally absolve Data Annotation of its contractual obligation to distribute funds that were already finalized and cleared for payout.I have reached out to the company to request the release of my earned, approved funds, but I have not received any communication whatsoever regarding the timeline for my payout.Desired Resolution:I am requesting that Data Annotation immediately release the full balance of the approved funds that were cleared for withdrawal prior to the account suspension. Because the platform lock prevents me from accessing my dashboard, I request that Data Annotation provide a full audit log of my account ledger showing the approved balance at the time of suspension and issue the payout immediately.Initial Complaint

This company offers a fake job offering through a trial performance period where you conduct baseline tests and conversations with their AI chatbot and AI programs. They have you conduct up to 4-6 exercises with their AI programs under the guise that they will employ you and provide you work on other AI projects upon completion of this trial program. Once completed, they use your on their AI programs for free baseline testing and never offer you additional work or a job with any compensation. DataAnnotation is a scam using people for free testing so they can keep their operating costs at a minimum and never have to pay compensation to testers.Initial Complaint

This is a scam company. In the application process they used me to train their AI for free then never contacted me back. Many many people are trying to apply for this company and they're using all these people during their application process as free labor to train their AI. This company is committing labor theft.
