1 starScammers, liars, crooks, unprofessional, unethical, and extortionists are just a few names for this company and staff. Received a quote to move 1 bedroom size of already packaged boxes, dismantled toddler bed, wine table, piano and car for $2800. They were scheduled to arrive between 8:30am -10:30am, they showed up at 5:15pm in a budget rental truck. They said they came from another job but the truck was empty. They screwed up the car transport the same day of scheduled pickup and tried to charge me an additional $385 to my original $900 quote to tow the car to their lot. Based on how they loaded my boxed items and issues with their car transport, I didn't feel comfortable with them moving my piano and cancelled that service with them. So now it's just the 12 prepackaged boxes, dismantled toddler bed, and wine table in my garage ready to go. I advised the ******* to provide me with the exact quote of my items before being placed on the truck. He did not and said once they are on the truck, the office will call me with a price. Again, I emphasized I will not pay over what I was originally quoted minus the car and piano. The ******* agreed and proceeded to load my items into the truck. His crew closed the doors and the extortion began. So now without the car and piano and only just the boxes and couple items mentioned, the new quote ballooned to $4200. I refused. Now the extortion continues to $3400. I refuse. They now proceed to tell me if I want my items back, I have to pay them $1000. I refused. They threatened to take my items back to their lot if I didn't pay them. I told whomever I was on the phone with that they will have to take me to court for the $1000 they are robbing me of without an itemized invoice of their multiple erroneous charges. A direct call from their office was made to the ******* to drop all my items on the sidewalk. They removed everything from the truck in 20 mins and took off. DO NOT USE THEM. BE WARNED!Review fromBarbara R

1 starBait and switch with the quote. Give you one price and charge another. Just needed strength to move from downstairs to upstairs. Three men for 3.5 hours. Charged double the original quote because the put a mattress on the bed. $500 for change order and $280 for assembly. And want cash on top. Or ***** or *******. Run. Fast. Do not use.Review fromALTHEA Y

1 starAll comments posted are accurate. I am surprise they exist. If you see of hear of this Tri-state movers- run as fast as you can in the opposite direction. A waste of thought to use Tri-State Area movers. They lied about everything and was extremely careless in the handling of our move. When they came to do the evaluation they were so nice and seemed professional according to their advertisement, however, far from it. They 1st quoted us $6,500.00. After truck was packed they gave us a ridiculous quote of over $19,000.00 ("the workers stated they do that all the time - they worked there and that is what Tri-state Movers' does"). If you decide to refuse their service, they tell you to pay half the cost to get it off the truck, placing you in a bind. They were unprofessional (a big joke) no uniforms- buddies hanging out, lazy, careless and simply don't care. Delivery was super late (weeks). Extended out flight 3 times, flew out -had to fly back to get out things - and yet they were late again - showed up after 12am-no reimbursement. Many boxes came opened and stolen (stools, sewing machine, office supplies, personal items, 2 years worth of toilet paper - and much more. Many collectible **************** were broken (irreplaceable). When tried to recover cost - TRI-STATE gives you 6 cents pound per item as a replacement cost - Boo. They DO NOT return calls and have NO sympathy for your losses. Too costly to bring a law suit - than to replace items and they know that, that is why they do not care about assisting or replacing. A friend of ours recommended them because of pricing - We advise them to use another company (Mayflower) and had no issues. I am so sorry we chose this company - would not recommend. They are "AWFUL" - RUN. If you decide to do business with this company after this post, then it is on you. I and many others gave a report to WARN everyone. DO NOT CALL THEM - DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. They deserve a rating of zero (0). 1 rating is too much.Review fromJanice A

1 starLet me start off by saying that all of the reviews on this website are accurate, this company is full of lies. *****(reps), came to the house did a walk-through of the entire house, and provided us with a quote of $6857.80. With this quote, they agreed to pack the large furniture with extra padding since the items were being delivered to a storage unit. Here is where the troubles started on the day of the pack-out the movers were supposed to arrive between 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm. At around 2 p.m. the movers showed up all "buzzed up" and were rude to my wife as she tried explaining to them our scheduled pick-up time. The movers then stormed out at this point my wife called the office only to learn that the movers already called and said that we refused their services. The woman at the office assured us she would fix the problem, and after a while, a man came out of the truck ready to work. He apologized and asked if they could start from upstairs while we finished up the garage. Upon completing the pack out, the supervisor gave us an invoice for Boxes and Square Footage that was in the truck. That value came out to be $9731.31. We called the office on this new cost and were advised to pay the down payment and when the truck gets back to their facility they will evaluate what was packed vs. the paperwork. The price remained the same. It was delivered one week later, there were two guys to unload it. On the Contract, we stated that the large furniture was to go to the back of the storage, along with boxes that were labeled back of the storage. They kept saying no problem but did whatever they liked when I reminded them they got upset. The guy was so careless that the headboard fell from the truck and broke along with other furniture. I had many phone calls and text to the supervisor **** since April who keeps promising a restoration company but with no success. Every time I call the office I'm getting the run around saying that someone will call me back. They never did.Review fromGail W

1 starif you see this company, run. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. My furniture was damaged; The movers went through all bins and boxes and stole from me. They brought an extra moving truck to my house, not knowing that their plan was to put all my valuables in the extra truck and then drive it off the site. They had to empty the truck at a different location. Then when they went back to the yard, their truck was empty. I had no proof of them stealing from me. They took jewlery, coins, vaccum, lawn mower and so on. These were items that I wanted to pass down to my grandchildren. These are things that can never be replaced.please do not use this company. Do not trust them. The company did not believe me. They defended their staff. It was a nightmare for me. I did file a police report, but nothing was done.Review fromTracy C

1 starI called Tristate ********************************************* for a quote to move my belongings from **** ******, ** to **** *****, **. which was estimated in person on 3/10/23 for the amount of $3347. I paid a deposit of $2200 via ***** on 4/12/23. My belongings were picked up on 4/12/23 and suddenly the price was inflated to $6158.40. Their reasoning was that they thought the shipment was going to **********, ******* not **********************. My things had already been packed and loaded on the truck so I continued with the transfer. They estimated my belongings would arrive in ********** within 2 weeks on 4/26/23. ********* gave me this date of arrival. After 4 weeks of calling the office and getting put on hold with promises of a return call (that never came) I had a delivery date set. On 5/12/23 I stayed at home all day awaiting my delivery ********* told me that my delivery window was 8am - 4pm. Nobody called or showed up that day. I spoke to ********* on 5/17/23 and he said they are having a hard time getting my stuff onto a smaller truck for the delivery because the driver does not have insurance. So, apparently my stuff is in storage. Then I was given another delivery date of 5/17/23. There was no confirmation and again nobody showed up to deliver my stuff. It is now 5/18/23 and ********* refuses to give me the location of my belongings. When we spoke 5/17/23 he said that my stuff is in ********, **. I told him that ******** is over 300 miles away. I also asked why he would schedule a delivery when he knows my things are so far away. He then said theyre only 2 hours away in ************. I reminded him that ************ is only 30 minutes away from ***********. He then said they are in **************. That is in fact ************. My daughter has a home there. She offered to hire a third party to pick up my belongings for me too, but ********* refused to reveal the location. He said that they store government documents there and that nobody can be let in but them.
