Hello, my husband and I hired Tri-State Movers to move us from *************************************** to *************************************************. The truck arrived on May 27th, 2025 and the 4 guys loaded up the truck. We have a contract that stated the price would be $5541.00. The moving men kept getting calls from the Tri-State office saying that the weight was high and they kept increasing the fee. We went from the $5541.00 to $9,344.00. We were shocked but there was nothing we could do about the price as they had all of belongings on the truck. They said we have to pay 1/2 now and the balance when they arrive in **************. We paid them $***** in cash. WE NEVER LEFT FOR **************. The next day, we closed on our house in *********** and bought the ** house at the same closing. One hour later my husband sweeping the basement at ****************, suffered a fatal heart attack and died. We never left the state. I called Tri-State and told them what had happened and reminded them I paid them 5K. My daughter and I moved to my mom's house in ******* as we no longer own the *****************. Tri-State brought our stuff to ******* and put it in the garage of my mom's house. Tri-State told me I was entitled to a refund as the move was 10 minutes to ******* 7.1 miles. They will not take my calls; I have left multiple messages to no avail. This has been going on for 1 month. They kept my $***** and they know that my husband passed and our situation. Not one person will return a phone call. I am seeking a reasonable refund. They can't charge ***** to go 7.1 miles when that was the price to drive to **************. I don't know why they are taking advantage of me especially when they know I lost my husband and my house. I am devastated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have used Tri-state Area Movers to move my household items from *************, ** to **********. They picked up my item on 24th December, 2024. They were supposed to deliver the item within the next two weeks. after 2 weeks when I called them, they hold my item hostage saying that unless I made the full payment they won't head out to deliver my item. Then I made the full payment. Even after that they delivered my items on 22nd January, 2025. I was missing lot of items. 5 boxes and my wooden bed frame. So I complained in their office. After 1 week they did return my 5 boxed. But I never got back my Bed frame. I called them couple times and did not get any response positive response from them. When I asked for reimbursement or compensation they said they will give me 50 cents/LB. I told them, I never signed for anything like this. The representative said I signed it when I agreed to take their service. But I have never signed any documents. There was not any paper or documents to sign. Until today I have not received my item.

I used this company who is part of my barter group for a recent move, they quoted one price $1000 in barter and then they changed the price to $6100 (half in barter), which I did agree to. They showed up 5 hours later than they told me, and they were supposed to come with a large enough truck for all my items. When they showed up the truck was half full with someone else's items, and they had to squeeze my items in and they damaged some. The movers were not professional at all, they threw things in the truck, they did not wrap items, threw blankets over some items, and put tape on some others which I believed caused this damage. When I called the company the day of the move about the fee change, the receptionist ***** told me the extra cost was because they would need to shrink wrap items (2 bureaus, one small bar, small round table, 4 chairs, and one cabinet, the only other items were 8 boxes that I had already wrapped and secured with tape. I agreed because I felt at least my items would be handled with care, but they were not! They never shrink wrapped anything and did not handle any of the items carefully. When they arrived at my new home to deliver they told me they would only take cash, I refused and told them I would give them a check. I also gave them my key card to get into my complex, which they never returned to me. When I called ***** and she said they would mail it to me but I have still have not received. On 4/29/24 which was the same day as the move I called the owner, ******* Augi. I spoke with him directly about what had taken place and he agreed to refund me half of my money but as of today's date I have only received $560 in our barter group. There have been several emails since April in which he keeps telling me that he is going to send the rest, but again I haven't received. I have one email from ***** threatening me that if I gave a bad review she would trash my business 100 times more.

Received a quote from moving company for ***** which included packing and moving. They came on Sept 4th and began packing, towards the end of the day the office called me and said that it will cost more than expected. They said they would call back with the info. They did not call back and instead began loading my belongings onto their truck. They came again the next day, finished loading everything, I still had not received a call back from the office with their updated price. After they finished loading everything, I received a call from the office saying that the final charge is ******, and if I dont pay they will not deliver my stuff and will sell it in an auction. I was forced to pay. They delivered my belongings. There was also damage to many items.

We contracted for a move and gave a $100 deposit. The initial estimate was$895 including the deposit. We acknowledge we had more boxes than agreed upon and expected to pay an overage. However the final total was 3x the agreed upon price. There was not proportionally anywhere near that additional square footage. In fact it was measured twice at different numbers. Then there were hidden fees: gas and a service charge. Based on the second measurement of cubic feet they agreed to a discount of$147. Last, they did not give us credit for our deposit. We are requesting our $100 deposit back as we paid $2500 cash on top of the deposit instead of $2400.

I'm filing a complaint against the moving company for breaching our contract. We initially agreed on a $1135.75 cost for my move from ** to ********, involving a $100 deposit and $517.88 at pickup. I paid $617.88 by the day of pickup, 12/22/2023, and I was supposed to pay the rest, $517.88 at the time of delivery, 12/23/2023. On the day of pickup, they had me e-sign unspecified forms without explanation. Finally, before leaving, they disclosed a final cost of $2350 that was over two times the estimated quote. In response, I insisted on unloading everything. They refused to do so. During a subsequent confrontation, ***** from the company insisted on an additional $2000, bringing the total to $2617.88. It felt like everyone from the company was providing different figures. Despite my estimated quote of $1135.75 and an upfront payment of $617.88 by pickup, with an additional $517.88 due upon delivery, they consistently contacted me within the next 24 hours, withholding my belongings and demanding the extra $2000. This not only violates our agreement but also reflects deceptive practices on their part. Upon the truck's arrival at the delivery location, I found it necessary to threaten involvement of the police if my belongings were not returned. Regrettably, I succumbed to paying an extra $1200 to recover my possessions. Subsequently, after reading their reviews online, I discovered this to be a recurring patternholding people's belongings hostage in exchange for money. The company not only held my belongings hostage but also engaged in deceptive practices, resulting in me paying more for a service that included missing items and distressing insults. *****'s offensive behavior calling me "a nasty woman" multiple times, coupled with the unprofessionalism of the main manager ******* A, who referred to me as "cheap," added to the overall unacceptable experience.
