According to our records, the order in question was placed for an eBook on 08/07/2023. Per policy established by VitalSource, an eBook provider, the items can be cancelled and refunded within 14 days after purchase date. However, we received an email from you regarding the cancellation of the item in question exactly 15 days after the order placement, which was the main reason for the book to be non-refundable.Please be kindly advised that an eBook is available to the customer as soon as they receive a confirmation email containing the link to the eBook itself. Furthermore, due to the fact that an eBook is not a physical item, it cannot be shipped to the customer's address.As an experienced and established participant at the textbooks market, we are eager to provide good service to our customers, as we strive to sustain our earned reputation among other established companies, and we continue to work hard on keeping our policy as transparent as possible. 1 starI sent four of my books in excellent condition. Three out of four textbooks had zero writing/underlining/highlighting. I packed the books tightly and wrapped them multiple times so that they wouldn't slide around. I take extremely good care of my books, but somehow, the book that BooksRun was going to give me the most for, has some kind of liquid damage to it. They didn't notify me about this--I happened to look at my account the last day that you could communicate with them about whether to accept the reduced rate. I'm never using this company again, and I'm really upset that they are only willing to pay me $75 for books that were sent to them in excellent condition that cost me hundreds of dollars.BooksRun

Please, allow us to explain the issue with your order. Your buyback order was processed in accordance with the existing ******************* which implies that books with a condition that does not correspond to the one initially stated, get their quotes adjusted. According to our ******************* items with heavy wear in the order may have their quote adjusted or be not eligible for buyback at all. Your order was placed "On Hold" for 7 days so that you could either accept the quotes or decline them and have the items shipped back to your address. The notifications regarding the condition of the books received and the opened disputes were sent to your email address. However, since no decision was made, the adjustment was accepted automatically by our system and the order was processed on 08/08/2023. We also understand how frustrating it may be to pay for shipping of the item back, but please try to understand our position on this matter. We provide prepaid labels for all our buyback orders and lose a significant amount on shipping and handling. The return shipping fee of $8.95 for the first book and $3.99 for each item thereafter includes: 1) shipping from customer's address to our processing facility; 2) shipping from the processing facility to the customer's address; 3) handling; 4) packaging. We hope this information gives you the understanding of our policy on returns.It appeared that the book was received with a liquid stain of unknown origin, the images of the damaged were also provided. For these reasons, we also strongly recommend wrapping the contents of the package in plastic to prevent damage during shipping. Our processing department carefully inspects each and every item, and we always calculate the price of the items received with any kind of damage for all our buyback orders. As a rule, we do not purchase items that have any water stains and curled pages, because such items are not eligible for buyback program as the price applicable for them is too low and they are not desirable by wholesalers and individual buyers. In some cases, the water damage itself may be minor, but even such signs of it significantly affect the final price of the book, especially considering the fact that the book is used and not actually brand new (an unopened item in its original packaging).We are always happy to assist customers with any arising issues in a timely manner and have no interest in deceiving or holding the payment from clients. 1 starThis place is a complete scam. I sent in two books in great condition and they cut the price for both by over 50% because I had highlighted a sentence on one page. The way they force you into accepting is that they will make you pay shipping if you dont accept their adjusted prices (which dont even fall in line with their guidelines). 1 starThey went straight to the debt collector and claimed I never returned the book. After I showed the debt collector an email confirming it was returned and received, they CHANGED their reason to returning it damaged with the pages ripped off along with water damage (False!). I returned it the same way I received it. They are a bunch of crooks. I am not one to write a bad review but this is a very deceitful business!Review fromAnnie G

1 starLike others, I was scammed by this company. I had a book I sent in that was in great condition. They sent me a picture of the book ripped off the cover and binding, stating it was too damaged to sell, and I wouldnt receive any money. I did not send a book in that condition. They stated I can either get it back & pay for shipping or they keep the book. I didnt respond at this point, as I was so irritated that they either sent a fake image or damaged the book themselves. They now are stating my book was counterfeit, so now they get to withhold the book from me. Seems like this is their gimmick to get free textbooks then sell them to others. 1 starI ordered a textbook on 7/11/23 and paid **** for expedited shipping because I needed it this week. The package came today and was empty and the inside of it glued together. *** tried calling them only to get a recording and call disconnected, *** emailed to be told it will be answered within 72 business hours, and tried their live chat only to be told by the robot to call or email them. 1 starThis is the email I just sent them- my first few sellbacks with them were fine. For the record, I am a professional bookseller and know the conditions of books according to accepted industry standards.I feel scammed. The Last Palace was in excellent condition, and the Arabic book was certainly not in poor condition- not in brand new shape, but certainly could be rated as 'good'. Obviously your price for return shipping is ridiculous- via media mail it should be at the 3 or 4 pound price, so no more than $6 or so, not almost $13. I certainly hope you don't do this with the order I have coming to you now. Do I need to take photos of the books as I pack them since you offer no fair way to dispute this? Very disappointed. 1 starThis company is HORRIBLE. Stay away. I ordered a book for class and received a book thats unusable. Words are scribbled out and it clearly shouldve never been quality checked to send out like this. I got the book May 17th and reached out to their support on May 18th. Its June 8th, and theyve still yet to resolve this. They keep going back and fourth with me refusing to provide a new textbook or refund me for the book. They even had the audacity to say Ive kept the book half the rental period yet I requested to return it immediately upon arrival. If you dont want to be out a book for your classes use a different service. Chegg and Textbookrush have always been way more reliable.BooksRun

This particular condition implies a certain degree of tear and wear, some markings, highlighting, stains, bent corners, etc. However, all the text should be legible and all pages included. A note "Heavy wear" usually means that a book may have liquid stains, excessive marking or/and highlighting, wrinkled or torn pages and binding etc.
Upon contacting us via email with the concern about the book ordered, one of our representatives clarified the situation regarding the case and provided several options to resolve the issue despite the fact that according to the current policy that is listed in our Terms & Conditions, items rented with us may correspond to any condition available at the warehouse. Kindly note that each user gives their consent to be bound by the policy before order placement.Please be kindly advised that according to our Terms and Conditions we do not refund any charges related to rental orders (Shipping and Returns, bullet point #9). However, one of our representatives was trying to resolve the issue in the most appropriate way possible by offering discounts which did not suffice. Please note that our policy does not provide refunds for rentals at all.
A prepaid shipping label was provided on 06/09/2023. A full refund of the rental amount was issued accordingly to the original payment method upon the return of the book on 06/26/2023 08:55 am. A prepaid label was provided from our side to smooth things over and make up for the inconvenience despite the fact that we do not provide prepaid labels in case of discretionary returns according to the current policy and do not refund rental charges.

1 starI have used Booksrun because they offered great prices to sell back my books. My books are brand new, no damage not even a bent spine. I noticed for the past 6 orders that my prices for every books in all my orders were dropped from like new to used. They also gave me less than the price saying my books were damaged.Well, I asked for them proof. They sent proof for one of my latest sell back orders. They sent me 2 pictures. One where I couldn't tell what books were in the package. The other had a basket of books that were not any of my books! They are mishandling my books and lying about it.They lied about the condition of my books! I have photos of every book I sold. They could not even provide me the accurate photos.I will never use them in the future. Don't sell back your books with this dishonest company!I wish I could give them 0 stars ??.BooksRun
