On Rate My Professor, a student wrote a false claim on September 22, 2022. The ************************ is an institution in which its instructors are volunteers. The courses are already built. The volunteer instructor does not design the course. ****************** designs the course. The courses in the business program do not ask to write a 500-word essay nor do they use MLA. Students know all assignments and have access via the Learning Guide. The negative review given is totally false and violates Rate My Professor *********** ******************************************************

On April 18th, May 17th, and June 29th of 2022, three separate, and highly negative reviews were left on my professor ******* on ratemyprofessors. However, I had not taught at that institution since 2018, and per Ratemyprofessors own guidelines, professor *******s will be removed when an individual no longer works for a university. Morevoer, RMP promises to remove any posts that are considered slanderous or defamatory. Well, I flagged the slanderous reviews as instructed -- and nothing was done. I sent RateMyProfessors two messages asking for my account to be removed as I was -- and have not been -- listed on the university's website for years. No action. I have now contacted this website three times to have my name cleared and they are either willfully refusing to stop someone from harassing me or are woefully negligent and allowing the harassment to continue out of laziness. Either way, it's unacceptable and I'm tired of being denigrated by some former student with an axe to grind.

I am a female prof whose profile on RMP (************************************************************) has recently gotten two negative reviews in a row. The first one, from December 2021, clearly identified who they were; the review underscores I check for plagiarism and is clearly vindictive because I caught them plagiarizing their work (I know who this is as I only caught one instance of plagiarism that semester). I should not be penalized for this; this is my job. The boring comments are perplexing as attendance was poor in that class (pandemic class). The second one, from March 2022, contains false information; it states it's a problem that the lectures are videos and we use classroom time to do assignments. It's a flipped classroom, not an atypical class approach as is implied. For the statement I don't answer questions, that is completely false. I invariably answer student questions for hours on end and walk them through the answer to their question by asking them what they understand and don't as we go. I quickly answer emails patiently and do the same. So, this is false information. Finally, the labs they state I don't explain have step-by-step instructions with screenshots that are easily followed and myself and my TA help students who run into challenges following the steps. The labs follow the lectures, so they are very clearly introduced to the class.I would like to remind RMP that it is shown that women and persons of color are targeted by student biases and often receive gender and racially biased reviews. Their website is promoting this behavior by allowing the reviews. Here is information on these biases: ********************************************************************************************************f I also found a very clearly gender-biased review that calls me emotional when I am one of the most even and controlled professors you will meet. These reviews are libelous. I demand my profile be removed from RMP for the reasons listed above.

Throughout my time as a user of RateMyProfessor, my reviews have been arbitrarily taken down. Lately, the website has indicated that you need to have an official account to post reviews on ******************************************************** profile. Several reviews on this profile that I thought were informative had been needlessly taken down before this. When I created an account and then proceeded to review ******************************************, I could only review her up to a point before I was notified that there was a server error and that I could no longer do so. Routinely, the website has these server errors and is not able to post reviews. If you could correct these numerous errors, that would be great! Thank you!

RateYourProfessor . com has blocked me from posting instructor reviews because I filed a complaint against them a few months ago. In that complaint I stated that Rate My Professor **** qualifies reviews and because of them doing this most of the reviews that survive are 4 and 5 ratings. Now they think it is funny to state at the end of an attempted review "Page not found, maybe the dog ate it". Very funny to them but I am not laughing. I thought this was odd so I went on another computer and tried to play the exact same rating and sure enough that time it worked. I went back to the same computer and I get the same message. This business is no use to a student if the instructor reviews are going to be qualified the way RateYourProfessor **** qualifies them. You cannot state anything bad of the instructor, you cannot say the instructor is a bad teacher, you cannot say this instructor has no business teaching, you cannot say instructors prefer students who already know the subject, You can only say the instructor was a good instructor and you can only rate 4 and 5 ratings for the most part. the point is that students should be allowed to state their true experience without any qualifying or modifications from this company.

On July 6th, I discovered that my profile on RateMyProfessor.com (RMP) contained a false and defamatory review. The review dated Feb 2022 lists a course number I never taught at a university where I have not worked since 2018. Additionally, it lists this course as an online class with a textbook. I do not teach online classes. I searched this course number, and none exists at the university. The reviewer identifies me by name in the review, but the review is for a class that I have never taught. The review seems to have been written maliciously and with false intent by an online troll. It defames my character by suggesting that my teaching style is immature. Using RMP's flagging feature, I flagged the false review, but within 24 hours it was showing as "********************" and remains on my profile. This review violates RMP's own terms of use by being both false and defamatory. After doing more research, I learned that since I have not taught at the listed university for several years, I can remove my profile and have all the content deleted. RMP offers no email contact; complaints are submitted using a form. Each time I attempted to submit my complaint using the provided form, I received a suspicious error message saying the server is "unresponsive." Thinking this was a browser issue, I tried resubmitting the form using multiple browsers and devices, but continued to receive the same error message. Based on the other BBB complaints for RMP, it is clear that RMP is guilty of defaming hardworking academics. The blatantly false reviews flooding their site have a material impact on professors' careers, especially those who are on the job market, as such the company should be subject to a class-action lawsuit and the website should be shut down permanently. I would like my profile and all content deleted immediately.

I resigned from my teaching position at a university in March, 2021. Since then, I have sent 3 emails asking to be removed from their web site. Their policy is that an instructor can be removed if they are no longer working at the institution connected to their profile. Since I am no longer there, I should be able to have my information removed.I have had no response to my emails and I am still on the site. I want to be removed immediately.

On June 28, 2022 a review on ******************** appeared that incorrectly described grading tactics as harsh on certain assignments for a summer course the student allegedly took with me (the professor for the course). The reviewer also used derogatory language to describe me and aspects of the class (e.g. "terrible" and "atrocious"). This post violates the sites own guidelines and prohibitions as, according to their website, reviews must be honest, not posted in anger, and avoid name calling. I contacted ******************** pointing out that due to the organizational structure of course I in fact did not grade the assignments mentioned in the review (thus making it factually false) and that the language used to describe me was pejorative and tantamount to name calling (which is prohibited according to their own standards). They did not, however, take down the review.I am not a tenured professor who can simply disregard negative public pronouncements. These unverified negative reviews impact future student enrollments, which impact teachers without tenure like myself. My reputation matters to me and I work hard to maintain it by being fair, accessible, and responsive to student needs. I know that not every student is going to have a positive experiencethat is just realitybut this website verges on the irresponsible by allowing factually untrue statements and derogatory comments against teachers who have simply done their job (and often done it well). This is already a demanding profession, especially these past two years. I cannot think of another profession that requires as much and pays as little, and on top of that receives anonymous public criticism. Publicly sharing one's experiences and opinions is one thing, but making factually untrue and prejudicial remarks about overworked and underpaid teachers is quite something else.

Upon ****** search, I realized that there were comments about me in ratemyprofessor.com. These comments are false and misleading.I believe they were written by a colleague that has been reprimanded for harassing me at work, and not a student. I can tell by the way the comments are written.I have tried contacting the website about the issue and they refuse to delete the profile and comments, even though they violate their own terms and conditions. This website should be sued and permanently shut down.
