Drop made users earn 50k points before they could redeem a gift card. They suddenly changed their gift card policy and I have not been able to redeem my points for a gift card since. I get on the app 2 minutes before the gift cards are supposed to drop. They say sold out for that day fro about 3 minutes no matter how many times you refresh. And then after about 3 minutes They say sold out until the next week. There is no opportunity or button even available to click when they say the gift cards have dropped.Business Response

I want to mention that we have indeed been sending out gift cards as promised. We have recently made improvements to the redemption process that allowed members to redeem their points while encountering fewer errors along the way. Along with this improvement, we also made the decision to reduce the amount of app pages that are due to load around the time of the gift card drop to ensure the load on our servers was not too much to handle. Both of these improvements worked and allowed members to redeem even faster than usual. As a result, our gift cards sold out and have continued to sell out in under a minute.
We are continuing to brainstorm ways of ensuring more members will get gift cards with each drop, so please keep your eyes peeled for more improvements to come. As always, any major changes that go into effect will be communicated to the entire user base.

Drop Technologies is an online survey company that gives you points you can redeem for gift cards. They are made available 1X per week. I've been trying for months to redeem my points and going on their site the minute the cards are available and they either have technical issues or the allotment of cards have been given out.There are a massive number of complaints on their Instagram and ******** accounts and they don't reply. I've send a number of emails to their customer service, only to get an automated reply and no follow up.I believe they are taking the money from the people paying for the surveys and keeping it.I'd like to get the $50 in gift card they owe me.Customer Answer

Drop app has changed the way rewards are Redeemed. At this point I have over $125 in rewards that I have tried ti redeem but right when it hits 12:00pm for the gift card drop and the app crashes/I am unable to redeem a gift card with my points. Im very frustrated about this. It seems that the app is overwhelmed with the demand of users attempting to redeem gift cards. This is unacceptable as it has been several weeks with no solution. Drop Technologies has, since 4/24/23, refused to honor its own redemption policies, outlined in the terms of service for its app, regarding the redemption of points for gift cards, points being earned by allowing Drop to have access to individuals banking information. Drop continuing to access this information while not honoring gift card redemptions feels fraudulent. After an extended period of refusal to acknowledge customers inability to redeem gift cards, Drop now is attempting to make users compete in a lottery for redemption. This also violates their terms of service. I want the $350 dollars that they promised for ********* gift cards. I have spent a year and a half trying to earn that much and then they tell me I cant get it anymore. They violate their own policies.Customer Answer

Drop falsely advertises & states with points earned you can redeem for a gift card, but they changed the ************ is impossible to ever redeem a gift card. They are constantly sold out for weeks. Also they stopped giving monthly Drop points at the beginning of each month & no explanation although my credit cards have been linked for months. I try every date the gift cards are supposedly available & it says sold out with a new future date. Obviously they want people to just stop trying. This company changed their reward redemption policy to one which is unjust. There is a supposed gift card drop every Thursday at 1pm ET in which customers can redeem their points for gift cards. Apparently quantity is super limited (Im thinking maybe a handful of gift cards are available if that). This has turned into a scheme. They make it nearly impossible to cash in points for a gift card now. This was not the policy when I signed up and was earning my points. I did not consent to this when signing up. What about people who can not be available on Thursdays at 1pm ET? Theyre just out of luck? Not to mention, the gift card all magically go out of stock around 1:01pm et. It doesnt matter if youre already in the app prior to drop time or not. It stays stuck on sold out If you try and open app at 1pm or later, you get a network error message. By the time 1:02pm et rolls back around, they are sold out. This is unreal! I want the gift cards I earned for participating with Drop by linking my bank cards.Business Response

In July 2023, Drop sent an email outlying their change in point redemption. They have made it impossible to redeem points for gift cards - gift cards are released in limited quantities on Thursday afternoons - they sell out immediately. I have approximately 165k points Id like to redeem and have not been able to since the new process rolled out. Meanwhile drop has access to my credit card information - and these weekly gift cards are impossible to obtain. This company is starting to feel like a scam with their new redemption program. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:I am not the only person that has felt scammed - while your company has been gathering information (that yes, I agreed to provide in exchange for points), the gift cards are non-existent on the release dates ************ influencers with over 1 million followers (who have previously collaborated with your company have also expressed their concerns about there being no way to redeem the points for gift cards. If there is no way to exchange the points, there is no redemption program that your company is offering. The right thing to do would be to allow members to redeem their points for their earned gift cards.

I tried to redeem a gift card for months. I was told that there was a issue with the vendor they used to process gift cards and the redemption process was taking longer than normal. Later to find out that was all a coverup from an email they sent in July stating that JoinDrop suffered hardship during the banking crisis that happened over 6 months ago. Also to my understanding, if this money was tied ** in a US Bank (SVB, First Republic, Etc.) the US government has insured all these deposits, so that should no longer effect their liquidity. They now allocate a small amount of gift cards each week (Thursdays at 10am PST) I've been trying to obtain gift cards for my over $475 worth of drop points for over a month with no luck. When will things get better or go back to normal? This still doesn't make sense and it feels like a coverup or scam.Business Response

I am writing to file a complaint against Drop regarding their recent changes to the reward points redemption process and the subsequent issues I have faced.Around a month ago, Drop altered their redemption rules, requiring users to queue up within the app every Thursday at 9 am Pacific Time. This change has resulted in significant technical difficulties. Each week, when new gift cards are released, the service experiences crashes, slowdowns, and errors. Many users, including myself, have been unable to redeem their rewards due to these ongoing technical problems.Moreover, I have noticed a pattern where these technical issues coincide with the release of new gift cards. This raises suspicions that Drop may be intentionally preventing users from redeeming their rewards, especially considering their recent financial troubles. Drop's recent public acknowledgment of financial difficulties, coupled with the abrupt change in redemption policy and the recurring technical problems, suggests a possible attempt to avoid paying out rewards.I attempted to resolve this by contacting Drop's customer service on August 14, 2023, about my redemption issue. Surprisingly, instead of addressing the problem, the customer service agent named **** suspended my account ****************** (Case #******). This response is both baffling and unacceptable, as it sidesteps the main concern and fails to provide a solution.I hereby request that Drop promptly resolve this matter by converting my accumulated ****** reward points into a $53.17 Amazon gift card, as per our original agreement. To the BBB,
This member's account has been permanently flagged for violating multiple terms of service.
First, this member had linked multiple business spending accounts. This is outlined as violating our terms since our platform is meant to be used for personal and household spending only. The member used these business accounts for multiple purchases for which they earned points, meaning they earned points on business expenditures which could later be written off. They were not paying for these purchases personally and were earning points, essentially "double dipping". This is the first violation.
Second, this member engaged in multiple instances of buying and returning goods where points were not clawed back. This means the member spent no money and we still paid out points. This is the second violation of our terms and we saw multiple instances of this before permanently flagging the member's account.
We will not be unflagging this account as it has shown multiple violations. Creating a new account, linking the same cards, and repeating the same behaviour will earn their new account the same permanent flags as the old one.
There is no further action to be taken on our part or on the part of the member. Please consider this matter closed.
