I contacted customer service to let them know there was charges on my PayPal account that I did not authorize because Ive never even heard of this company until I seen these transactions on my PayPal account before these fraud transactions took place on my PayPal account. *** never heard of this company, and after explaining all the details and everything they refuse to refund meReview from RAWLIN J

The level of slime and scam is off the charts with Shutterstock. The way the ad read, I believed I was paying $29 for unlimited downloads for a year so I paid. Then went to download an image and found out many images, the good one, you have to "upgrade" to get. I went to cancel, and then found out it wasn't $29 for the year, which the ad clearly said, it was $29 a month, AND for $29 a month, you can only download 10 images a month AND many of those images you still have to upgrade. When I went to cancel, at the very last page, I found out there is a $40 cancellation fee or they charge you $29 a month for year when you can only acess half the images. I tried to just delete my card to get around these vile, slimy crooks but they even have it set to where you can't delete your card. So I had to either pay another $40, or be charged $29 a month, no way around it. They deserve to go out of business: do not use Shutterstock, vile slimy crooks.Review from Dina K

SCAM!! DO NOT USE SHUTTERSTOCK!In 2021 I purchased 25 pictures from shutterstock as a one time fee. I have purposefully called the company to confirm that the pictures will be mine to use inevitably at a one time charge - with NO ADDITIONAL OBLIGATIONS or further subscriptions. I downloaded my 25 pictures from ther shutterstock account, and since 2021 NEVER logged into the account again. In 2022 Shutterstock didnt charge me anything. In 2023 they went ahead and put me on an annual subscription without my consent. They charged my credit card without my consent. I never agreed to a monthly subscription or was notified of any charges being put through on my card. Then they went ahead and charged me the annual fee again in **** and went as far as getting my updated expiry date on an already expired **** card. After a dispute has been issued, shutterstock agreed to refund the money for the charge that was put through in ****. However they are refusing to refund the money for 2023, stating that under their terms and conditions which I NEVER AGREED TO you can only dispute a charge within a years time from when it was put through. The charge was a scam in the first place. Additionally. *** filed for a dispute 5 days after the passing date.I ask again that the company issues a refund for the charge that has been put through on my card in 2023.Review from Mark N

Shutterstock prioritizes subscriber's over contributor's in a blatantly disrespectful way. They offer little to no support for contributors and continue to dilute their earnings with diminishing royalty rates that can only be indicative of the unavoidable decline of the stock image industry.Review from Mary M

Agree with everyone else on the subscription issue. They don't send any notices whatsoever that your trial is ending or that you are being charged for a subscription. I am trying to cancel and they say that there may be an additional charge for early cancellation! Absolutely unethical business practices. It is sad because they have some nice assets but I won't ever use them again out of principle.Review from Chet D

I downloaded some image from a ****** search and ended up on Shutterstock's free trial page. I read the disclaimer and understood that in order not to be charged $29.00 each and every month, I would need to cancel within the first seven (7) days. Seven days passed and I did not cancel so the company began debiting my card. After several months of this I contacted customer service and was told by the agent on the phone that if I wanted to cancel before the yearly renewal, that there would be a cancellation fee of $140.00 - not the $40.00 others are referring to. Normally when a free trial is about to expire and charges incur, the customer receives an email or a text message from the company warning of this fact. I never received an email from them to the best of my knowledge and belief. When I attempted to go on the Shutterstock website to obtain more photos, my username and password were not recognized and it would not let me login to the site or create a new account either one. So, for over a year now, my debit card has been charged $29.00 and now when the debit account is low somehow Shutterstock has been able to access my Venmo account to collect the $29.00. I have received no services, no photos, and no videos from this company for my now $348.00 that they have stolen from me, essentially. I give this company a negative -5 stars. I want my account cancelled and no more money taken from me via my debit card or Venmo account ever again.Review from Josh B

These guys are sleazeballs. Years ago they used to hide the cancelation making it virtually impossible to cancel a subscription. They clearly learned they could loose a merchant account that way and decided make it present. However, now they sneak in a "we win" tactic to bill you if you try and cancel early as a fee. I mean, this is 100% ego and greed. Good product but sleazy people. Run! Keep billing me guys, and keep getting chargebacks with your different mids, so far you are 0 for 2 with ***** fargo... how much are you willing to loose with those fees. I am prepared to put my bank on speed dial, and you guys will lose double the amount of money in fees compared to what you made in 1 year of ********. Clearly after seeing the 1 star on bbb I mean, it's known. Buyer beware! Get ready to get out your ***** Wonka magnifying glass with these people. If they bill you Charge them off! The only way crooks like these guys learn is by making them loose a bank account. Don't let them get away with it and shame on the underwriting teams at the banks for agreeing to these underhanded terms.Review from Heather W

Cancelling a subscription is akin to extortion. You keep it when you don't need/use it for $59 per month. You want to cancel early? Extra $59. Essentially, you are paying SS for an extra month for nothing in return. And they advertise for you to "Turn on auto-renew so you don't miss out." I don't even know where that auto-renew toggle is, and I have looked. What is my $59 actually going toward to cancel? Do you have to pay someone to do any work surrounding the process? No. You set up an automated email with a payment link. Super sus. I'll absolutely be deleting my account.Review from Mark H

SCAM, DO NOT USE SHUTTERSTOCK. I signed up for the free trail, and they won't let me cancel. They Said I have to pay an additional $40 to cancel otherwise I have to pay $30 a month for a year. No other company does this, their content is horrible and they steal images from users. The website is misleading and not worth the money. Use anyone else but Shutterstock! They said nothing about this on their website, straight up SCAMMERS. They will steal your money and not respond back to your emails.Review from Jason M

I was signed up for a yearly commitment at more than $30 a month when I only wanted to use the service for one small project. When I attempted to cancel, they threatened to charge me more, even though I had already been charged. Less than 24 hours had elapsed since the forced renewal. Their website makes it impossible to cancel and you have to call or use their chat.
