This matter is regarding the false explaination and lack of transparency from the National Debt Relief program practices with the client seeking for debt relief guidance. National Debt Relief led me to believe that my debt could be resolved with the creditors, not telling me that the client has a history of not settling. Thus because I was advised to prove a "financial hardship" with the creditors I was advised not to pay the monthly bill. This practice caused my debt to increase on the credit cards debt relief through National Debt Relief to double from ongoing late fees added to original balance. I spent more paying off the original balance. National Debt Relief caused me to spend more money than my original owing balance to the creditors. Other clients who are entrusting debt relief guidance/assisting need to know that National Debt Relief is not a practice transparency in their business with seeking clients.Customer Answer

National Debt Relief is a program that pretends they are there to help. They are just like any creditor agency. If youre in debt, call the companies up yourself. Over the course of 8 months, they resolved only 3k, while charging my nearly another thousand, after I decided to educate myself and pay my credit off without their assistance.Business Response

I answered an ad saying National Debt Relief (***) could help me pay off my debt in 6 months or so; they did say it would affect my credit score, but that as soon as the debt was paid off my credit score would come back up. They wanted me to add a loan for my business because they couldnt get the total to where they needed it, but I only had five months left to pay on the loan. I entered 7 debts into the program, but my bank, ****, wouldnt stop the automatic payments to their own credit card, so I had to drop that from the program. *** would liked for me to have switched banks to stop the payments, but I said no. They lowered my payment to them, but now I fear its going to take so long for them to be able to negotiate any payoffs with these creditors, that it will be detrimental for me financially to continue in their program. Their website says 6 months they have negotiated 50% of their clients debt; I just dont see how this can be remotely possible in my case for years.Business Response

National Debt Relief (***) made promises and assurances to assist us in settling debt with several credit card companies, and we began paying for their services in February 2024. Since that time, they have not only done very little to reach settlements with our creditors, while we continued to pay them $288 twice monthly (a whopping $576 per month), but they also advised us not to engage directly with any of our creditors even as these creditors began to threaten to take us to court. Finally, one of our creditors served my husband with court papers and a date to appear last November. At that time, an *** legal team member was still not able to reach an agreement with the creditor. We reached out to *** multiple times prior to this event about the possibility of court, and each time we were told that they would handle it and we didn't need to worry about it. Well, now we are facing court again due to their false and misleading counsel, all while they continued to drain money from us. When my husband tried to address this with an *** representative by phone today, they hung up on him! We are a hard-working couple with four young children just trying to survive, and we just want out of this nightmare. Please help. Thank you.Business Response

I am working with National Debt Relief. They said I would not be charged extra for the program I signed up for. They have received $8,239 from me since I signed up. They have paid my creditors roughly $1700 and paid themselves the rest. They say I have a $0 account balance and now owe $800 for a new offer. This was never explained, and now I have to reject the offer. My credit is gone, and now they are telling me I need to pay more, only six months in.Business Response

So, I made account to help with my debt but I start to have problems with making the deposits because life just throw me a curve ball and I just could not afford anymore. So, I canceled the program and I am told I owe all these other fees that no one told me about and no everyone I talk to is being unprofessional and very rude.Business Response

On April 3rd I received a call from National Debt Relief about my account. I told them because of my situation I can not make a payment anytime soon. So the person on the phone said she will put my account on pause for 60 days which means no automatic payments too. Not even a month later they took money out of my account 348 dollars. I reached back out to them to see if they can cancel it and they denied to cancel it. I'm currently trying to get the full 348 back but because of all the fees I'm only looking at 171 back which makes absolutely no sense especially after I was told money would not be withdrawn from my account until 60 days has pass. No im behind on my car payment due to their faulty system, and behind on my phone bill. Does this not sound illegal?Business Response

I enrolled in the National Debt Relief Program to manage my debt. In the short time that I was enrolled in the program, I had little contact with my creditors. *** only managed to acquire settlements on two of my past-due accounts. I decided to cancel my enrollment with their program and enroll in another debt relief program. At the time of the cancellation, I had a little over $300 in the savings account used to pay off my debt. Even though there was over $300 in my savings account, I only received an ACH deposit of *****. The rest of the money has gone to "settlement fees." I want the BBB to be aware of this, as I feel this constitutes fraud on the part of National Debt Relief.Customer Answer

On 4/22 I was told that if I deposited $1722 and change, that my program would be paid in full and finalized by 4/30/25. I authorized $1725.00 to be sure this would be done and closed. Well it is 4/30/25 and they are now asking for more money. Not one of my accounts are pending creditor approvals, or showing a pending settelment. WHY?? Because they are scammers. This company has erronous fees, upon fees and doesn't listen to the customer. I wanted credit cards paid off in full and they are making payments instead. I didn't authorize payments to *****, yet they are entering me into an agreement... They are scam artisits!Business Response
