Reached out to Ipostal 1 about a charge on my account for $149. I reached out to them informing I wanted the monthly rate of $14.99. Instead, they still charged my account the $149. When I asked for a refund, I was basically told they couldn't refund my account. Doesn't make any sense! I've never had a company that they couldn't refund the amount. They basically stole my money!!Business Response

On December 6, I reviewed the web-site iPostal1 to get information about their services. Credit card information was required to get a quote and start making an account. I entered my card information but never completed sign up or form # **** because I did not want to purchase this service. I never used the service, never gave permission for the service, and they never handled any of my mail. I "chatted" with a rep on-line and asked that my account be closed immediately and requested a refund. Rep said I can't get a refund because I didn't cancel within the first 30 days. I responded that I never completed sign up or submitted their **** form. Rep responded they could charge me rather I completed consent forms or not, it was a "subscription fee" for rental of an address and mailbox number. I never received an address or mailbox number because the system kept asking me to submit form#**** in big, bold red letters and wouldn't let advance any further, delete my card or account info. As I didn't finish setting up the account or submit form #****, I (wrongly) assumed there would be no transactions and the account would be deleted due to no activity, use or permission. This company did not provide a service and made charges to my credit card without my permission. The online site is deceiving in the way it asks for personal/credit card information, making it appear to be just an inquiry when, in fact, it's opening an account. I am seeking a refund.Business Response

Thanks for writing to us. Our **************** has contacted you. The **** requires the Form 1583 be completed, notarized and filed with proper IDs. This is required in order for the mail center to accept mail on your behalf. If they are not completed, you will still be able to use the address for your business without the mail function. That is why your account was charged, whether or not you file the Form 1583. Many customers use our addresses this way. While your account is active, you have access to this address, prompting our automatic renewal payments to be processed accordingly. As a courtesy, our team has offered to refund two months of service. We trust that the steps we have taken will settle this complaint.Initial Complaint

I am writing in regard to the way my account has been mishandled by iPostal1. In early June 2024, I received an email informing me there was going to be a price change of an additional $5.00 for maintaining my business name on my account. It was strange to me because upon opening my account in my business name I was informed my monthly fee would be $9.99 At the time a link was sent, and I was not able to access the link, so I sent an email informing both Staples and the iPostal1 company that I was not interested in paying an additional fee to keep my business name on my mailbox. The whole prospect seemed shady to me since when I signed up for an account it was in my personal and business name and the subscription fee was $9.99. The amount I have been paying for several months.Apparently, their staff does not read at all because they did not review any of the 8 emails sent. I have been trying to pay the $9.99 fee on my account for the past 24 hours and I am being shaken down by iPostal1 staff to "just pay" the $14.99 anyway. According to them that is the only way they can adjust the account. I find these tactics to be unprofessional.I have requested to be sent a corrected bill for the amount of $9.99 so that I may pay my outstanding balance and they refuse to comply. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and I was not transferred to one. The representative also hung up the phone on me.copy of email to company On Saturday, June 22nd, 2024, at 9:28 PM, *** ******* **** **** **** ***** **************************> wrote:Dear Customer Service:I am in receipt of your notification of a rate increase with accounts displaying business names. The ipostal1 website clearly states:iPostal1's mailbox services revolutionize shopping on U.S. websites for expats by offering a U.S. address for parcel delivery and streamlined international mail forwarding. This service allows for economical package forwarding, including the ability to consolidate shipments to reduce postage costs. Expats benefit from discounted rates on courier services like ***************** and DHL, ensuring their packages are delivered promptly and securely to their doorstep. Therefore as a customer I should be entitled to discounted shipping rates. I was quoted $100 to mail a letter. However I am not being offered discounted shipping rates, contrary to the policy of the company. I would like an explanation why. I spoke with customer service and the agent, ******, admitted she is not being trained to answer my question.Business Response

Our team tried to reach you by phone but couldn't connect. Each iPostal1 mail center is independently owned and operated, so the shipping options depend on the specific mail center where you have your mailbox. The First-*********************************** for packages under 4 lbs. is a ************* and it's not available through iPostal1. We can assist you with transferring to the Wilmington address, as they can better meet your mailing needs. If you choose to transfer, we will cover the $25 notary fee by including it in the same check. Please let us know how you would like to proceed.Initial Complaint

I initially tried to set up the mailbox for our business and *************************************** on 9/29/2023. It should have been approved for ******** on 9/29/23 when he paid $25 to use the notary service and submitted the required 1583 document, that was indicated received. An additional recipient, myself, was added on 10/2/23. ipostal indicated on 10/3/23 that they did not receive the 1583 for me that was sent through another method. If they did not receive and approve adding me, then ok. However, ******** should have still been approved to receive mail, or this should have been explained in detail in an email that the mail box would no longer be approved / able to receive any mail (even to initial approved recipient ********). If the mailbox was not approved, then it should have been closed and no further charges on the account. No mail was processed by the company and no communication was received until a renewal notice in 6/2024. I tried to reach out. They refunded two months. I think they should refund the total amount if they did not properly approve the mailbox and *************************************** as initially setup on 9/29/2023 to receive mail.Business Response

Thanks for writing in to us. Our **************** team has contacted you. Separate documents are required for each name added to an account. Because not all were provided, the account was not approved for receiving mail. According to our policy, the subscription will continue to renew unless we receive a cancellation request from you. I was charged $157.30 for storage fees for a package that was marked in their system as weighing 143 pounds and with a max ****** of 103 inches. When I went to pick up the item, the clerk didn't understand where those details came from because in her system, the package was marked at 14 pounds with a max ****** of 16 inches. I have pictures of the package with the label and pickup confirmation which confirms the details of 14 pounds with a max ****** of 16 inches. Since the package falls into a smaller sized package tier, it qualifies for 10 free storage days not the 5 days because the package was mislabeled. This feels like a way for the company to scam its customers out of more money by mislabeling packages with larger weights and dimensions. I would like a refund for their mistake.Business Response
Date: 06/25/2024
Thanks for writing in to us. We apologize for the error that occurred with your package. Your mail center has since corrected the dimensions entered for the item in question. I am paying for a virtual mailbox from this company and started in April 2024. This is for business purposes. No mail is being processed and they continually say that they haven't received any mail and maybe senders are using incorrect address. I personally did two mail-outs to the address with way more time for it to be received and processed and they say they haven't received it. I am paying for service with no service at all. Multiple calls to support with no help.Business Response

Thanks for writing in to us. Our **************** team has contacted you. Two mail items were uploaded to your account on 6/21/24. If you had other mail items mailed to this address, you would need to ensure that your senders addressed them appropriately, as we cannot guarantee the delivery of mail items that are missing a mailbox number. No mail items were received prior to these. If you wish to investigate further, we strongly recommend reaching out the local post office, as there may potentially be delivery issues on their end. A courtesy refund was processed for the total of $59.97. We trust that the steps we have taken will settle this complaint.Initial Complaint

complaint regarding the services provided by iPostal from February 2023. Despite multiple attempts to resolve issues with mail delivery, the problem persisted till April 6 2024 when I canceled services, during this time I was repeatedly provided with conflicting information by iPostal store and post office employees.February 2023, I entered into an agreement with iPostal for mail delivery services. However, shortly thereafter, I began to experience difficulties with the receipt of mail. Despite my efforts to resolve the issue through communication with both the local iPostal store and post office, the problem persisted.December *********************************** that there were no recurring customer mail issues, but subsequent conversations revealed that there was indeed a problem with receiving mail. This conflicting information caused undue stress and frustration as well as harm to my business, I made multiple attempts to rectify the situation And I am now being ignored. The ongoing failure to provide satisfactory mail delivery services constitutes a breach of the contract between myself and iPostal. I was charged for services not rendered. I believe this breach warrants compensation for the harm caused. In addition to the breach of contract, I believe that iPostal has also violated various federal and state laws, including:* The Mail Order Merchandise Rule (15 U.S.C. 2301-2305) by failing to deliver mail in a timely manner;* The ************************ Act (15 U.S.C. 41 et seq.) by making false or misleading statements about the services provided;* The Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Act by engaging in deceptive practices in the conduct of trade or commerce;* The Consumer Protection Act.I hereby request that iPostal take immediate action to resolve this matter and provide relief 1. A full refund for the charges incurred for the faulty service;3. Compliance with federal and state laws regulating mail delivery services;Business Response

email from ****, failed to provide a clear and logical explanation for the issue with my undelivered mail. According to the email, my address was approved for mailing, but there was no change of address filed with ***** This implies that the mail was not properly routed to my designated mailbox. However, this assertion is undermined by the fact that multiple government agencies (IRS and State) had the correct address on file (proof attached). It defies logic to suggest that I would be required to file a change of address. Furthermore, the email's suggestion that I could have temporarily forwarded mail is irrelevant. I would not need to redirect mail when all relevant parties had the correct address. So why will not be compensated.Business Response

We apologize for any confusion. A full refund was never offered, and a check has not been mailed. In our last correspondence, one of our representatives offered a refund for three months of service in the amount of $239.97, as a courtesy, and requested an address to send a check to. Your response stated 'That refund amount will not work.' Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:I am reaching out once again to address the ongoing issue regarding the non-receipt of my mail since the beginning of my service.
The disregard for the evidence that has been provided and the gaslighting exhibited here constitutes poor business practice. I have provided ample direct evidence to support my claims, including additional documentation sent on July 26, 2024, and again on August 6, 2024, which was attached to my BBB complaint.
The proposed refund amount is not acceptable. On July 26, 2024, I received an email from the Delaware State office confirming that they mailed my company's letter of good standing, certificate of formation, and the amendment related to the address in question (*** ******** **** ***** *** ***** *********** ** *****).
The email stated:
“Following up on your phone call last week, we have confirmed that your letter of good standing and a certified copy of the Certificate of Formation for the referenced entity were mailed out on February 17, 2023. These documents were emailed to *********************, and a physical copy was sent to the following address: *** ******** **** ***** *** ***** *********** ** *****.
Additionally, we can confirm that your certificate of amendment was emailed to *********************, and a copy was mailed to the address on file on January 25, 2024.
Please note that we received the documents back marked as undeliverable from USPS.”
This information confirms once again that I have not been receiving mail at this address since the initiation of service.
Therefore, your offer of a three-month courtesy adjustment is unacceptable and may be considered a breach of New York State General Business Law § 349 regarding false advertising and deceptive business practices, as well as violations of the New York State Consumer Protection Act.
Additionally, it raises concerns regarding compliance with the New York State Mail Delivery Reform Act, which mandates proper handling and delivery of important business documents.
I urge you to take immediate action to resolve this matter in a manner that is fair and just (full refund for the faulty service). Failure to do so will leave me with no choice but to escalate my complaint to the appropriate regulatory authorities. In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.
Sincerely,
***** *
