Today on 3/1/2023, I received notification from Equifax and Transunion that some unknown credit account has been opened in my identity. I do not live in the *****************, and I have not opened up any accounts relating to credit. In particular, I am a victim of identity theft and I have a block/freeze on my credit account so I don't understand how this has happened. I would like this vendor to correct and delete/cancel any application in my name/identity. I will also be filling a dispute with the three credit bureaus as I have not authorized or applied for any credit. If this is not correct with the next 5 days. I will also file a police report in the State of ********, in the *****************, and in ********************. I will also file a complaint with the ************** of ************* within both states as there appears to be a pattern with this company of opening lines of credit without the authorization of the actual person/identity.Business Response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:I would like to thank the Better Business Bureau (BBB) for your assistance in helping me reach the company. I would like to reject the businesss response for the following reasons. I do not want to work directly with Esusu Financial, Inc. (here referenced as Esusu). As cited in my previous correspondence to the BBB, Esusu was not cooperative when I reached out to them directly. They were defensive, uncooperative, and evasive. I would like Esusu to resolve all my concerns while working through the BBB as an intermediary. Please note that I did not make a request to any property owners or managers to open any credit lines or to establish credit in my identity. I am a responsible citizen and can take care of my credit responsibilities. If Esusus goal is to bridge the racial wealth gap by harnessing the power of data, they should strive to communicate from an ethical and transparent standpoint with all individuals. In addition, they should ask the individual (whose information theyre posting) if that individual desires or needs the services they are offering. Secondly, Esusu should create a system to double check that the information they are posting or accessing is accurate, timely, (again) necessary and does not pose a danger to the individual they are affecting. To confirm, I would like to continue working with the BBB to resolve all of my concerns with Esusu Financial. Specifically, that the current accounts ending in **** and **** are closed. Furthermore, that any account currently not listed but open is closed. Thirdly, that they do not now or in the future ever open a line of credit in my name. Lastly, that they rectify the impact these postings have had on my credit. Esusu has not taken any action to remedy this situation and has only discussed what they may do sometime in an unknown future. Please have them resolve the issues and report back what actions were completed to completely resolve the concerns cited. Thank you.
In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.
Sincerely,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:I do not feel comfortable working directly with Esusu as they were unresponsive to my request when I originally reached out to them. In addition, my concern in working with Esusu is that they will open up other accounts without my permission and then say that I made the request.
Is there a particular reason why you are not able to resolve the issue with the information that you currently have? You have my name, the ending of the account numbers, and my address. What additional information is it that you need to resolve this request and why do you need that information?
The information you currently have is sufficient to find me in your records. In addition, you never asked me or communicated with me to collect and use my information, as you stated previously, you had information from your client. Why are you not able to use that same information to remove my information?
Communicate what specific information you need and why that information is absolutely necessary. Be specific, currently your responses are general and vague. In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Recently, I logged into the three (3) Credit Reporting Bureaus to order a copy of my Credit Report. I found that ESUSU Financial, Inc. reported a fraudulent account and activity in my name on November 1, 2022 with a joint owner. They listed it as a (loan) Rental_Agreement with a joint owner. I have never taken out a loan with this company, nor have I been a joint owner on a loan with ESUSU Financial, nor have I signed a loan with this company, nor have I signed up for **************** Services with ESUSU Financial, Inc. Also. I have never applied for a loan with this company. I want ESUSU Financial, Inc. to permanently, and immediately remove this false reporting from all three Reporting Credit Bureaus. This false reporting has caused my Credit Score to drop significantly. Under The Fair **************** Act, (FCRA) companies are not allowed to report inaccurate information. The information has to be accurate and should promote accuracy and fairness, and the privacy of personal information assembled by the **************** Agencies. (CRA) This is fraudulent. Please remove. Thank you.Business Response

I recently received a message from my credit bureau that an account was opened in my name, impacting my credit, and a hard inquiry into my credit. Did not authorize that to happen and want it removed. I do not need rental payments reported in order to better serve my credit score. I was given this company as a referral from two separate landlords on two separate occasions couple years apart. I had applied the first time two years ago and was denied. I moved into a new complex the new landlord gave me their information in which I applied the first time in november. Was denied when I had asked why Etc come to find out my landlord was in communication and I give them the landlord code. I then applied again. I had been waiting at least another 6 weeks to find out this morning that I had denied for the third time. When I had asked to speak with somebody in reference to my loan the first time I was given a couple of different folks to speak with but never anybody on the phone as I was told that that wasn't an option.Sorry regardless of the referrals codes and so forth I was yet denied and still do not have the loan. I find this really in bad business to lead consumers along to inadvertently wind up telling them no regardless. I didn't come to this decision unless from two sources two separate landlords to tell me about the program but also the while I was denied.Business Response

Esusu Financial, Inc. is a financial services company harnessing the power of data to bridge the racial wealth gap. To that end, we work with property managers and owners to provide rent reporting services to low to moderate income individuals. For clients who sign on to our services, Esusu also offers rent relief in partnership with the 501(c)(3) Stable Home Fund. ************** received a referral code, which is required to prove that your building is a member of our services. Once an application is submitted, Esusu uses internal underwriting criteria to make a determination of whether or not someone meets the qualifications for rent relief. In ****************** case, her income was insufficient for the amount of money requested, which caused relief not to be granted. We know that it is disappointing to be offered a chance to apply for rent relief and not receive it, but at all steps in the process, our internal processes and procedures were followed to ensure each applicant gets an objective review.Initial Complaint

Esusu Financial fraudulently opened up an account in my name without my knowledge and without information about what it means to be a part of their company. I have never signed up for any credit reporting services, and/or loans, and/or any forms of lines of credit with them. They have colluded with the landlord and seem to be preying on the same community they claim to support. I want my account closed and to be removed from my credit report immediately. Because of this fraudulent activity by Esusu Financial, their direct actions has lowered my credit score significantly and that is reprehensible at best. I do not want my integrity, credit, and character to be sullied and ruined because of another organizations greed.Business Response

Esusu reported my rent payments as a closed loan twice and it has significantly decreased my credit score both times. Last year the information was removed but my credit points weren't restored. I rent a room through Padsplit.com and Esusu is their rent reporting partner. On my credit report under account details type it list as a rental agreement so why are they reporting this as a LOAN? I pay rent and I have NEVER had a loan with this company. I rent a room through house sharing and will like to get back into my own apartment after becoming disabled and not having an apartment for SIX years! This is hurting my credit score and preventing me from obtaining an apartment because of my credit score. I had my score in a good range to obtain my own apartment that I was planning on getting in March but now because my credit score has dropped it isn't possible. This is how it is reported OTHER LOANS PADSPLIT, *** Reported: Oct. 31, 2022Business Response

Esusu Financial, Inc. is a financial services company harnessing the power of data to bridge the racial wealth gap. To that end, we work with property managers to report the on time rental payments of their residents to build and establish credit scores. Esusu has a contractual relationship with ********************** landlord to report rental payments. Because the credit bureaus do not have a mechanism at present to show rental payments in the tradeline, rent is treated and reported like a loan whereby each month there is an expectation for repayment of a particular amount. ****************** has previously complained about Esusu and her requested remediation and actions have been taken to remove the reporting on her behalf via AUD to the credit bureaus. Esusu is not the only factor that weighs on someone's credit report. There are many factors such as debt to income ration, spending, new accounts opened that can also cause credit to fluctuate. We cannot guarantee an increase from the initial and natural dip of the opening of a trade line by Esusu where other factors are affecting the score. As has previously been explained to ******************, for Esusu to help raise her credit score, she would need to allow time for the rental payments to be reported month over month as it can *********** months for the full impact to be seen on a credit report. Esusu has complied with ********************** request to be deleted from our systems and will not be reported on.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:Although this time the informtion was removed and my points where given back unlike last year when the same thing happen. They are lying about the month to month because I've been in a Padsplit for 17 months and they have only reported TWICE in that time! They are steady trying to say this is my problem credit wise as they did last year when the same thing happen and it wasn't addressed. I haven't open any new accounts! I pay for credit cards bills in full every month 95% of the time and when I don't it usually 5% utilization. I understand credit and how it works they need to accept responsibility for their actions. They claim there isn't a way to report except for a closed loan, I don't believe that is true because why would credit agencies and other agencies want you to report rent payments to help your credit if they are reported as closed loans it wouldn't help your credit. You can close this but I just wanted to get my point across because I'm NOT finished dealing with them on this matter. I'm filing a lawsuit as soon as I do my research with other rent reporting agencies to see how they report rent payments.

Esusu Financial, Inc. is a financial services company harnessing the power of data to bridge the racial wealth gap. To that end, we work with property owners and operators to report the on-time rental payments of their residents to build and establish credit scores. We are a third-party service provide to the complainant's landlord. Through this relationship, we have sent communication to all building residents, put up flyers in the building, and given all residents the opportunity to opt out of our services prior to the commencement of reporting. When reporting commences and a new trade line is opened, it is normal for an individual's credit score to initially dip. Following the successful reporting over the following 3-6 months, the credit scores of our residents increase exponentially. Because this complainant has indicated they do not want our services, we have opted them out of the reporting service, removed them from communications with Esusu, and submitted and AUD to *********** to delete the tradeline that was opened. It should take 3-5 business days for this to come off of the credit report. We apologize for any inconvenience to the complainant.
