    WV Public Service Commission Fines Suddenlink $2.2 Million and Orders it to Open a West Virginia Call Center

    The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.

    On 2/09/2022, the Public Service Commission of West Virigina issued a Final Order in its investigation into Suddenlink’s quality of service, finding that the Company had failed to provide safe, adequate and reliable service to its West Virginia subscribers. The Commission also determined that Suddenlink intentionally reduced its maintenance work and budget, reduced the number of full time employees, changed its method of communicating with customers and ignored thousands of customer complaints. The Commission assessed immediate penalties of $2,242,000, which is the maximum penalty to date. The Commission has the authority to impose future penalties. The Commission also ordered Suddenlink to locate a call center in West Virginia. 

    The company is to notify the Commission within 90 days, detailing its expected location and the anticipated date the center will open. Chairman Lane met with representatives of Suddenlink last year to discuss the staggering
    number of quality of service complaints the Commission had received, including delays in service restoration, billing errors, the inability to place orders for service or contact personnel regarding the status of service. Suddenlink was directed to provide the Commission a correction plan within 30 days. In response, Suddenlink sent a letter that contained neither a correction plan nor details of the steps that the Company had taken to improve service. Suddenlink has over 133,000 cable television customers in West Virginia.

      Hello, my bill is supposed be $136.29. The last bill I paid was $191.15 in sept. I have contacted reps ** with no resolve. I now have an email saying I owe almost $400. I dont mind paying my bill but I need to be able to log in to pay or to start autopay again. The last rep supposedly did this. I am also scared of auto pay as my bill goes from $136 monthly to $191 to $400. I am unable to log into the website to pay online as I use to. I am unable to see any bill. I rec no bill in the mail. I am unable to see any billing period. I have spoken to CS ** with no resolve. I want to be able to log in, view bill and pay online/auto draft. I also have has internet connection/tv issues for almost a year now which led us to purchasing a new tv. We are still having the same issues bc of course it was not the tv but the tv/internet service. I mostly would like my billing corrected and credited and the ability to log in and see/pay my bill.

      STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM OPTIMUM AS YOU CAN!!!They have very poor customer service and price ***** big time.I returned all their equipment to a OPTIMUM STORE on April 2, 2024. The person gave me a receipt for the 7 items returned and gave me a note showing the amount of the final payment due and gave me the impression that everything was okay and I could go. Yesterday I received a statement in the mail that reflects an amount almost twice the amount I was told to final payment would be. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY PLEASE!!
