      I moved into a 2-bed/2-bath apartment at ************ / Heatherwood Luxury Apts in 2020 with the understanding that upgrades were due, but couldn't be done due to COVID. I chose this location because it was a gated community with a security guard/house, gates and cameras & as a single woman whose young adult daughters would visit, I felt this essential to our security & wellbeing. Upon renewal in 2021 the rent increased the full 10% even though the guard was let go, the gates removed, cameras were knocked down/removed/non functional and no notice was given to the residents that our gated, guarded community was no longer gated or guarded. Now cars use the complex as a cut-through as they are no longer hampered by any security measures. I was told nothing was going to be upgraded in my apt and no other concessions were to be given. I have health issues that made moving at the time impossible, so I renewed, also being told improvements were going to be made as a changeover in management was happening. However, more cuts-maintenance hours were reduced, the lifeguard was taken away, no other security measures were put in ****************** about cars racing through the complex / kids hanging out till all hours were not addressed & this year, the rent increased by the full 10% once again. Communication is very poor with the on property leasing office and although I was promised they were trying to help me look for a 1-bed / 1-bath to reduce my expenses, I later learned apartments came and went without the promised communication. We still do not have security and I feel I am not getting what I am paying for, having moved into a guarded / gated community without either. I feel the residents should have had communication about our security by now, I feel my apartment should have had the promised upgrades and, if not, the rent should have only gone up the 5% and not by 10%. Especially because I feel I am paying for services I signed on for that were taken away.

      Have lived in the ************ location almost 2 years & the maintenance crew is the only good thing about this place. Heatherwood corporate does not conduct business properly - they are money hungry, not people-centric, and don't care who they s**** over in the process.They are penalizing a tenant (me) who has paid rent on time every month for 2 years, because their autopay system didn't collect the last payment before shutting off (autopay was set up to run through the duration of the current lease) and despite that I put in a payment immediately after receiving notice of this, they are charging me a $50 fee and telling me they can't waive it. There is nowhere on the Heatherwood Tenant Portal that says to set autopay beyond the last desired payment date.The ******************** provided by Heatherwood on the website are false advertising - there are no amenities at this location outside of 2 small laundry rooms & the apartments are not "luxury" as they say - the appliances and design are very outdated. The amenities are at another Heatherwood location 20 mins away by car. They also charge expensive, non-refundable pet fees, regardless of whether there is damage or not.Heatherwood continues to raise the rent enormously despite not having or adding ANY amenities. Many tenants moved out as a result, and I can only imagine that the $ Heatherwood spent on the apartment turnover is way more than what they are getting with the increased rent. Not only that, but they brought rent down on some units when they finally realized they were charging way too much & not filling units, and now there are some tenants paying less than others for the same types of apartments. It is my opinion and that of many other current tenants that Heatherwood Corporate is not running things properly or fairly.
