  BBB has received information ProTech Elevate, LLC solicits consumers immediately after having malware messages on their computers, then concurrently offers tech support services while misrepresenting affiliation with Microsoft. BBB has also received information after complainants pay to have their computer repaired, computers are never "repaired". Instead, other malware problems may occur in addition to reported unauthorized charges.
  
  On February 28, 2017, BBB offered ProTech Elevate, LLC the opportunity to preserve self-regulation in the marketplace by clarifying current business practices. BBB contacted ProTech Elevate, LLC regarding current business practices concerns. The business did not respond.
  
  -According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), consumers should use caution when requesting tech support services from businesses:
  
  -Don't give control of your computer to someone who says they need to activate software. Instead, look carefully at the software instructions to learn how to activate the software yourself.
  
  -Don't give control of your computer to someone who calls you out of the blue claiming to be from tech support. Instead, hang up and call the company at a number you know to be correct.
  
  -Never provide your credit card information, financial information, or passwords to someone who claims to be from tech support.
  
  -Learn how to protect your computer from malware.
