      On or about October 27 2022 I went in person to Golds gym at Teterboro ** and spoke to a receptionist (female) about cancelling my gym membership. She advised me that there wasn't a manager on site however she would forward my request to him. I left her my name and number to contact me if there was any issue with my cancellation request. I never heard anything back and I assumed that the cancellation went through as I expected it to. I then noticed that Gold's Gym was still charging my credit card. I called Golds Gym and spoke with the manager who was extremely rude. He told me that I needed to come in person to the gym to submit a cancellation request. I told him I had already done that. He argued with me that I needed to come back in, I told him I was not able to do so as I was not in the local area. During this era of technology how is it that he could not just send me the "cancellation form" that he insisted I fill out. He finally did agree to email me the cancellation form (after arguing with me that I needed to come in person). I immediately filled out the form and sent it back. Then I received an email that my account would not be canceled until I paid a balance of ***** which was what they charged me after I had initially requested to cancel my membership and was not even attending that gym anymore. I immediately contacted **************** and explained to them the situation. They advised they would fight the charges on my behalf. They did do a chargeback however now Golds Gym has sent this to collections which has negatively affected my credit score. The resolution I seek is for a correction to be sent to my credit report, for this to be absolved and for the collections agency account to be removed. If this is not resolved I will be contacting the Attorney General, my local Congressmen, social media and small claims court. I am not the first person this has happened to from what I have been hearing.

      I wish there was a half a star rating or 0 stars I could post because this gym has the worse communication and policies especially regarding the ******* pandemic and gym membership cancellations. Since the pandemic in 2020, I havent gone to the gym. Everything was closed and in lockdown. In September I was getting billed for previous months that I had never used the gym!!!! I called the manager and ****** at the gym, *****, which took weeks to get ahold of, and she said I would have to physically come into the gym with a doctors note. At that time due to my condition I didnt want to step foot anywhere, so I asked if I could fax, or mail my documents, given the current crisis. And she refused. I immediately called my credit card company and better business bureau and they all agreed that this particular company had had slews of complaints of not hearing our customers and unheard of billing. Fast forward to now, even after sending her the documents and cancellation forms, she is still harassing me about these payments, and she even agreed that I hadnt ever step foot into the gym since the pandemic. She searched my bar code to see how many times I swiped in. Greedy and poor management indeed. **** EVER GO TO THIS GYM!!! Id rather workout in a park.

      To whom this may concern,I reviewed all the notes on ******************** account and I have 10 or so emails and phone calls explaining to ************** of all her options. She asked about cancellations and I informed her of the procedures and I also explained the freeze to her as well. Per her Dr. note we were able to freeze her membership at first and I explained in detail per our emails on what she needed to do if she needed to cancel. I placed her on a 6 month freeze and when the freeze ended she submitted another medical note which allowed her to cancel. Also during the pandemic and while the gym was closed we didn't charge any of our members for those months and place all memberships on a freeze. I have also reached out to ****************** every time she contacted me and have the emails to prove it.
