On or about October 27 2022 I went in person to Golds gym at Teterboro ** and spoke to a receptionist (female) about cancelling my gym membership. She advised me that there wasn't a manager on site however she would forward my request to him. I left her my name and number to contact me if there was any issue with my cancellation request. I never heard anything back and I assumed that the cancellation went through as I expected it to. I then noticed that Gold's Gym was still charging my credit card. I called Golds Gym and spoke with the manager who was extremely rude. He told me that I needed to come in person to the gym to submit a cancellation request. I told him I had already done that. He argued with me that I needed to come back in, I told him I was not able to do so as I was not in the local area. During this era of technology how is it that he could not just send me the "cancellation form" that he insisted I fill out. He finally did agree to email me the cancellation form (after arguing with me that I needed to come in person). I immediately filled out the form and sent it back. Then I received an email that my account would not be canceled until I paid a balance of ***** which was what they charged me after I had initially requested to cancel my membership and was not even attending that gym anymore. I immediately contacted **************** and explained to them the situation. They advised they would fight the charges on my behalf. They did do a chargeback however now Golds Gym has sent this to collections which has negatively affected my credit score. The resolution I seek is for a correction to be sent to my credit report, for this to be absolved and for the collections agency account to be removed. If this is not resolved I will be contacting the Attorney General, my local Congressmen, social media and small claims court. I am not the first person this has happened to from what I have been hearing.Initial Complaint

DO NOT USE THIS GYM THEY ARE A SCAM!! OWNER **** is not willing to look into any matters the gym is filthy and unsafe. I signed a contract for what was supposed to be one year Feb -Feb i was told 43 a month. I was then charged $145.00 day one and 43 a month about 6 moths later $59.00 and $43.00. Now im being told my contract is 3 years which was altered by them since it was inputed into their system to benefit them. They wouldnt even stop the membership when they were closed due to Covid. is is unethical what they are doing. I want my contract terminated immediately due to the fact its unsafe, not clean, not up to CDC guidelines and i cannot be part of it since i was sick. Hello, I did gold gym membership in Teterboro, new jersey, Feb 2020 for one year. but due to pandemic gym was closed from April to sept 2020, then I went to close my membership. because I was afraid of social distancing (no one was wearing mask even the person who manage all stuff ‘’TONY’’ was also not wearing mask). So, I went two- three times to close my membership. but no body response back to me and every time they told me the person associated with billing is not available so come next time then I went one day Sunday and I met Tony who manage all stuff. he told me we can’t cancel membership but you can froze your account so you will be not charged for three month but that time he did not mention me if you froze the account we will enrolling you for again six month. so, I froze my account for three months. Then back in Jan 2021 I went to close to gym membership then again, the billing department lady told me you can’t not cancel membership because you enroll for six months automatiBusiness response

********* ***** signed a 1 year contract on 2/26/2020. Unfortunately due to Covid-19 we had to close our facility and place all memberships on freeze from 4/1/2020 to 9/1/2021. Once our state was able to reopen we emailed all members that we were opening and the protocols we were putting in place for a safe return. *** ***** didn't feel comfortable coming back to the gym once we reopened and place her membership on another 3 month Freeze. Because of her (2) freezes it extended her membership 8 months. September 2021 will be her last month in contract and after that she can cancel at anytime with a 30 day notice. If she wishes to have September as her last month, my suggestion would be to fill out a cancellation form between September 1st and September 25th.
