Avis will assess an authorization hold starting at $200.00 plus the estimated value of the rental quote or $250.00 for prepaid reservation. Once a rental has been closed for billing, Avis will automatically release any amount from the hold that we did not use for billing back to the card provider and this will usually reflect within 48 hours of the check in. Depending upon the policies of your financial institution, they may take additional time to make the funds once again available for your use.
If no pending authorization holds remain, this typically indicates that the unused amount, if any, was already allocated back to your balance by your card provider. If you believe this to be in error or have a record of any unexpected, completed transactions, at your convenience, please contact us for further review.

1 starAbsolute WORST experience I have ever had with ANY company. Ever. These guys, Avis have the worst customer service. They charged me over $400 for a one day rental that I never ended up using. Customer service just said, "oh well, there's nothing we can do." Avoid at ALL costs.Avis Rent A Car

1 starNever rent Car from here!!! very unprofessional
They called me a day before and let me know that there isn't any car available to pickup what i already paid full for reservation !! please call customer service to change location they may have car available,so i said that's not my fault that i did online reservation, i end of talking to customer service they said that other location is not allow to rent the car in the same amount you paid you have to pay $100.00 more,This the planed game they have ,initially the would make you reservation in discount price in one location and a day before you pick,they may call and modify .My whole trip plan is messed up i end up cancelled reservation ,now i have 1 day left and i am looking reservation.
The lady was telling me "you did online reservation its complicated to cancel or transfer the pickup location,i don't understand did i commit any crime doing reservation online?
Second man i spoke with,offering me to cancel the reservation and create a new one for another price which is way higher than i got before for the same car!
customer service representative were acting like this whole situation i created and i am irritating bothering them please leave us along i am victimizing them!
please be careful there are other many very professional car rental company other than this !Avis Rent A Car

Beware. Beware!
On 9/3/23 I made an ONLINE vehicle reservation for 1 week for a car to be picked up on 11/21/23. I had to provide a credit card for the reservation (HUGE MISTAKE!).
On 9/21 , 2 months before the scheduled pickup date, I realized I needed a larger vehicle to accommodate my guests.
I called Avis regarding my reservation and wanting a larger car. They could not accommodate my request at that location for a larger passenger van. I opted to cancel the reservation after finding the desired larger van with another company. I was informed I would be assessed a $50 fee for my cancellation.
This is a cancellation, 60 days in advance for a product they could not deliver. How is that right?
Today my charge bill came, indeed $50 of the amount for the car was not refunded. What kind of customer service is that!!!
Total consumer abuse. Please help. Never, never use Avis. They are out to rip you off.Avis Rent A Car

As clarified in the Prepay Policies on our website on the Review and Book screen of our Reservation form as well as our ****************************************************** page, if a prepaid reservation is cancelled more than 24 hours before the pickup time, a $50.00 USD or equivalent foreign currency used for the reservation, will be assessed a cancellation fee. If a prepaid reservation is cancelled within 24 hours before the pickup time, a $150.00 USD or equivalent foreign currency used for the reservation, will be assessed a cancellation fee.
Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.

1 star“I can’t do anything.” “That’s not possible.” “You can’t do that.” “Sorry, I can’t help you.” “You’ll have to call Avis Customer Service. We can’t do anything.” Those fictions are all you’ll hear from Avis, and you’ll hear them over and over.
We heard them, repeatedly, in the Bellevue, WA office from which we rented. I heard them repeatedly in my six calls to customer service, who, according to the Bellevue office, would fix the problem the Bellevue office caused. Other commenters online have said the same: No one at Avis tells the truth, no one is competent, and everyone sends you to the Customer Service line, who say and do whatever it takes to take your money and get you off the phone. If you want to rent from liars and incompetents, Avis is your company. If you want decent customer service and decent treatment, go somewhere else.Avis Rent A Car

Talked to several different agents in reference to be billed for returning a soiled car which I did NOT!!

1 starThe definition of putting on a front to help people to manipulate and take from them. My partner went in for testing with some symptoms. They gave him the option of treatment before they gave him test results, so he just started taking them. He brought home a prescription for me. I wanted to speak with the doctor to ensure this was the only treatment needed, because my husband had received shots as well and wasnt sure. I tried contacting the clinic by phone for 3 days. The local clinics number listed is a national ***** line and is near impossible to contact anyone. After three days of no success I went to the office directly. I explained I didnt want any of my partners info because I was aware of hippa rules but I wanted to speak with the provider who wrote me a prescription. Leave a message or something. I said I could wait. The receptionist was unkind, rude, and acted I was a burden. I offered to wait and she finally said yes Ill get a provider. I waited forty minutes and again explained the scenario, this provider was even more restrained and said the only reason a script was written is if my partner requested it. So anyone can request a prescription for anyone? She insisted the only way she would answer my question is if I booked an appointment, paid for the appointment out of pocket which is around $300. They also informed me that even though the testing technically takes 15 minutes, it has to be sent to their headquarters in *******. Im assuming to steal peoples genetic material. This process takes two weeks. These people were claiming I was trying to break hippa, meanwhile they refused to give me instructions on how to take a prescription written for me, and informed me any testing done through them was recorded in their headquarters many hundreds of miles away. 1 starThis rental company claimed glass damage and failed to show proof when asked. Before I left **** when returning the car it appeared they did a walk around of the vehicle before I left and they did not mention damage. I ended up paying for the alleged damage, and was able to get reimbursed for a portion of it through my insurance. Five months later I'm paying for a random calibration coast AGAIN for $255 with no warning or reason. I am very uncomfortable with **** having my credit card info because they seem to charge and do whatever they wish without warning or proof of damage to vehicles In addition to all of this they claim to be at the airport terminal and they are not. I was surprised to be driving to their company and waiting for a shuttle with my 3 kids and 6 bags. I give no stars because if I find myself in ******* again I will absolutely not use ****.Avis Rent A Car
