Charged an Administrative Fee for a registered toll. However, there were toll charges taking out of my account that same day thus proving my EZ Pass Account. No issue paying the toll charge but seek reimbursement for the administrative fee.

Ezpass charged me fines exceeding $400 for a car I removed from my account. My son added the car and charges have been going through for him so the car is paid for the tolls it goes through. Ezpass is also charging me as if the car isn’t registered through his account. They are trying to collect money from both accounts for the same car.Initial Complaint

I have been charged admin fees above 750$ for toll issues while I was resolving a stolen debit/bank card issue. I had no way to recharge the account but have ha the account for over 15 years. In the past they have always taken the toll and credited the admin fees bc I'm an ex pass customer. Now they won't do that an have sent my account to collections for the admin fees. They had no problem collecting the toll fees from you account but when I called to get the admin fees reversed they told me they wont do it and that it's my fault. They were rude and wouldn't even listen to the reason which o could back up with my bank on the stolen debit cards. There is no recourse or way to fight this. They tell you you have 30 days to pay the fees or it goes to collections. Which is what they did. This should be illegal as they are collecting millions of dollars in admin fees with no oversight. The Ez pass system takes to long to process payment. Leaving you open to overdraft and than get charged a higher price from everyone else even if you have automatic payment or a tag in your car.Business Response

I formally disputed the violations with NJ E-Zpass issued or dates 7/4/24, 7/5/24, and 7/7/24, with citation numbers T12242589835-01, T122425898438-01, T062425880926-01, and T062425886336-01. At the time of my dispute I had 6 violations and only 2 were resolved. I have been a long-time PA EZPass customer, and my account has consistently been in good standing. I have three vehicles listed on this account, including the vehicle associated with these ************ PA E-ZPass account is ***** I kindly request a review of my account and the removal of these violations as they were issued in error.I have been referred to a collection agency who refused to listen to my dispute ad hung on me while I was trying to obtain information on how to resolve this dispute. EZ Pass has unjustly charged me over $2,300 in late fees over the past 18 months due to notices being sent to an outdated address without any attempt to reach me through email or other means. These fees, which accumulated without my knowledge, have now blocked my ability to obtain an EZ Pass account, creating a cycle of escalating penalties.
Additionally, EZ Pass only sent these fees to collections after they had become exorbitantly high, which directly harms my credit score and causes further financial damage.
I am fully prepared to pay the tolls I owe, but I formally request the waiver of all late fees, given EZ Pass’s failure to notify me correctly. It’s unreasonable—and unfair—for EZ Pass to prevent access to an account that would enable timely payments and avoid further penalties. This practice effectively forces individuals into increased debt and feels inherently exploitative.
A fair resolution is for EZ Pass to waive these late fees immediately, allowing me to settle the toll balance without undue penalties and to obtain an active EZ Pass account to avoid further charges. This proactive step would ensure compliance with fair consumer practices and help end the punitive cycle created by EZ Pass’s communication failures.

I have pending toll booth tickets that I have been trying to pay. I called ezpassnj 2 times within the month to pay the tickets and the representatives on the phone advised I did not have a balance. My tickets were only 3.20 and 2.15. I had about 5 of them. Now I received a letter in the mail with $50 fees on top of all. Last time this happened I paid over $300 for about $25 worth of tickets. This business is scamming people because the call center workers do not work at all. They are. Very disrespectful over the phone and give you wrong information. I would like to be compensated for previous charges and all new fees dropped so I can pay my regular tolls. This is ridiculous. Nobody can afford to keep paying this because your call center workers do not work and always have attitudes when you call.Initial Complaint

Ever since a credit card on my account expired two years ago I have been switched to a cash account and my credit card can not replenish my account. I contacted NJ EZ Pass numerous times in a couple different ways to no avail. I tried to call without being able to reach a representative and I tried to submit a service request online, which was marked "resolved" by advising me to call ###-###-####, the number where I can't get through to speak to someone because it just keeps sending me to the main menu after telling me to hold for a representative over and over again. I wished to contact them because I tried to dispute $150 administrative fees I had previously paid for regarding violation no. ************** I would like a refund for these fees because I had previously thought these fees were unfair, but didn't know I could dispute them before payment. I am disputing them now because I learned that I could have only received those fees if (1) Using a tag with a negative balance, suspended account, revoked account, or a reported lost or stolen tag (2) Using a valid tag in a vehicle that is not the type of vehicle the tag is designated for (3) Failing to update the license plates associated with the account. I have done nothing of that nature to have been penalized with these excessive fees. I have a valid lease for the vehicle I was driving, license plate (**) *******. I am entitled to this refund because I am within the 120 days I have to dispute these fees. The notice was dated 8/14/2024.
