1 starNo stars. I'm done with FirstMark, a company that wants to suck every drop of blood from you till you die broken. Well, through diligent financial planning over the past 5 years, I made the last payment and they can go to hell. As other complaints indicate, they are predatorial and dishonest. Avoid them or pay them off with a zero interest loan like I just did! Good riddance!Review fromMehryar Z

1 starMy student loans got handed to them by Wells Fargo - I would never go to Firstmark by choice. The employees are all incompetent and half of them talk to you like they despise their job. Representatives talk back to you, speak over you, disrespect and harass you with daily phone calls that will never stop. They are careless with your account and will make monthly mistakes you’d have to call in to fix. Your interest rate will be impossible to pay off. Management is the only good thing they have and even they agree their employees are dimwits. I’ve never had a positive experience with this company. I would cut my left leg off to never have to deal with them again. Easily the WORST company I have ever dealt with. I would renounce my college degree if it meant I never had to deal with these folks again - I never write reviews…..but I couldn’t let anyone else go through the BS the rest of us have been going through with Firstmark Service Thieves.Firstmark Services

1 starVery difficult to get customer service, no notifications on when payments are due, and they changed payments from every 3 months to a “Grace period” of every month without notice. I don’t think the customer service rep knows the definition of “Grace period” because he kept using it wrong . A bad experience overall. I would not use them againFirstmark Services

1 starReally -5 Stars! I’ve read most of the reviews and am not surprised by them. Seems to me their online payment system is set up to charge extra interest even when you’ve made the payoff payment. I wouldn’t recommend them. I’ve heard if you have something against someone you should give them a horse. I’d like to see these guys get a whole team of horses. Like Wells Fargo logo has, wonder how they got theirs. In cahoots I’m guessing.Firstmark Services

1 starI recently graduated, and my Wells Fargo student loans were sold to Firstmark Services. They illegally changed the end of my loan deferment date, sent no updates or letters about my end deferment date changing, and then began calling to collect the debt the very day after the payment was past due. When I called asking about options for reduced payment options such as income driven repayment, I was told they have no such assistance. I then asked about forbearance, and the representative said they didn't know anything about forbearance and would have to "contact another department" to find out and then call me back. They never called back. The next day they called me and a different rep had no knowledge of me calling them the day before, and only had called to tell my I was past due and they were attempting to collect a debt. When I told him I still had questions about forbearance, he said I only have 12 months of forbearance allowed throughout the life of the loan, and that I couldn't use it all at one time. I explained that I was a military veteran and recent college graduate with a kid on the way and I wanted to make payments but was not going to be able to make a $*** payment every month, at least not in my current financial state. When I asked for more details on forbearance and what the added cost or change to my monthly payments would be, the rep said "I have no idea. How am I supposed to know what the government is going to do with interest rates?" When I explained how that isn't helpful, and I can't make an uninformed decision on forbearance without specifics relating to my account, the representative began to have an even worse attitude. I eventually had to hang up, because the rep was being completely unhelpful and unwilling to give me any more information.
Firstmark Services is the absolute WORST, and you should stay away from them AT ALL COSTS. I can't wait until they go out of business or go under investigation for ethics violations.Firstmark Services

1 starSent payment to pay off my loan and the check has been cleared but not posted to my account. They are not doing anything to find my money and post it to my account. Every time I call in they say they will call back with an update but they don’t and if I file a complaint they do not provide any follow up or confirmation that it was even submitted. Worst company I have ever dealt with.Firstmark Services

1 starWorst loan I've ever had. The company bought my $20,000 student loan. I've been making significantly more than minimum payments for 6 years. Yo date I owe $22,000. I will literally pay my home loan off before this loan is paid.
I called to request info about loan payoff within 5 years and the amount to pay to do so. I received a letter stating that it is not within their policy and I am obligated to make payments as contracted. You MUST understand compound interest and be able to calculate payments with variable interest rates. I. Really hate that I made the decision to get this loan. I have 800+ credit, but borrowers will NOT reach that level if lenders like Firstmark do not provide information and options to payoff loans and get out of debt.
Please take this as a warning. DO NOT use this company! Try to find an option other than private loans.Firstmark Services

1 starI co-signed for a school loan for my Son to help with his education. Since, I am a disabled veteran, I was able to transfer my GI Bill benefits to him. The money would help with incidentals. The original loan was through Wells Fargo for $5000, in January 2012. Somehow… someway, Firstmark takes over the loan years later and increased the interest rate substantially. It’s been over eleven years and I am still making payments. The trick is to take a little from your account every month, so you really don’t miss the money. If you’re not paying close attention you will pay nearly $10000 in interest for a $5000 loan. Totaling in the neighborhood of $12000-$15000. However, I’ve been noticing uncategorized withdrawals on my bank statement for random prices at random times of the month. I contacted the company and of course its excuse after excuse. Never over the phone. Just emails that make zero sense. I did some research and found out that Firstmark doesn’t have a good reputation, at all. I’ve finally demanded a “No Payment” order, so they can keep their fingers out of my bank account. My next step is to seek legal assistance and stop companies like Firstmark from taking advantage of hardworking Americans. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.Review fromEric T

1 starThis company picked up my account from Wells Fargo and has been sucking me dry, ever since.
