In brief, I filed a warranty claim (Case ID = ****************** on August 2, 2024 with Ply Gem (formerly Insulate/Vinyltek)* for windows in which the frames are currently buckling outward (by 4 inches over a 6 foot length, as measured by a company representative). The windows were sold in 1993 with a lifetime warranty. The key points are:1. The windows were sold with a lifetime warranty (copy attached) .2. ******* changed its manufacturing process to make the frames more robust since warping frames had been occurring with windows produced during the early 1990s 3. The warranty excluded a number of situations, but not settling (but there are no signs of settling, so thats not an issue in this case).4. The company representative sent to examine the windows reported that the windows were bulging 4 inches out over 6 feet. He further stated that there were no cracks in the foundation, nor in the drywall, and most importantly no indications of settling, and that an engineer would call to set up an appointment.5. When no engineer called, I both emailed and called ***** *******, Claims Scheduler and he said that since the house was settling the claim wouldnt be honored (but there is no evidence of that). 6. Multiple requests to Mr. ******* and the President and CEO of Ply Gem for copies of the photos taken by the company representative, and his report stating that there were no cracks in the foundation or drywall, have been ignored.7. If a company denies a lifetime warranty claim, it is incumbent upon them to provide the purported evidence for the denial.8. The company has honored the lifetime warranty several times since 2004.Details, and a copy of the warranty, are available in the attachments.

We moved into a new home in Sep 2021 in which the builder installed Ply Gem double pane windows throughout the home. The windows have a 20 year warranty against defects and the warranty states that, "Ply Gem will, at no cost to you, provide components needed to correct any of the following conditions if it is directly caused by a defect in the product as manufactured, as determined by Ply Gem Windows, and has resulted in a significant impairment in operation and usage." One of the covered conditions listed is failure of the insulating glass unit (IGR) seal. I have uploaded the warranty. We now have 4 windows in which the insulating glass unit (IGR) seals have failed with subsequent permanent fogging on the interior glass due to intrusion of moisture between the panes. We submitted a complete warranty claim which ******* has approved the replacement of the glass units. However, Ply Gem wants to charge $175 to ship the needed components to us. However, the applicable warranty makes no mention of paying shipping for replacement parts (it states, at no cost to you). I believe Ply Gem is trying to recoup the cost of replacement components by charging excess shipping costs. We have contacted Ply Gem with our complaint but they insist that shipping costs are not part of the warranty, although there is no mention of paying shipping in the warranty (at no cost to you). We request that Ply Gem ship the needed components to us at no cost to us as stated in the warranty.

I have a valid warranty claim for failure of Atrium windows that has occurred within the warranty period. I have documents showing the purchase, and delivery of the windows to me for new construction, but Atrium insists on an ID number from a "sticker" on the frame. None of my units have ever had such a "sticker" and this requirement was not an issue when 13 pieces were replaced by Atrium in 2015. Atrium will not communicate with me because I am an "individual" and Lowes (Atrium's selection for communication) will not help me file a claim because Lowes says Atrium will not accept claims without the "sticker" information. I have made multiple attempts to resolve the issue, but the "Atrium **************** Team" will not respond to my emails

Ply Gem eyebrow window was not properly sealed. Used all their windows for a new home. Filed a warranty claim ref:027500013607 and was told it would be $300 to send new window no installation (and I have 30 days to pay or I have to refile a new claim). Dont know the cost of window its only 4 feet by 18 inches. 4 years ago they had to replace a sliding glass door that wasnt properly sealed. The sent it to my local ********** and I had to pick it up and install it.

I filed a claim for window warranties with Cornerstone Building Brands (the original window manufacturer and installer) back in October for three windows that had lost their seals. The loss of seals was confirmed by an independent home inspection and an independent professional window cleaner. Cornerstone Building Brands would not honor their warranty at first, and kept asking for pictures of stickers on the windows to confirm they were the installer. I provided multiple photos of the stickers; however, after 7 years in the Texas sun, the numbers and letters on the stickers had worn off. Cornerstone Building Brands stated they would not cover the warranty without the stickers. I had to hire a handyman to pull out the windows from the frames in all the windows of my house in hopes of finding one with a sticker intact. We did find one such sticker. I emailed a photo of the sticker to Cornerstone Building Brands. After much back and forth, they finally agreed to honor the warranty. They informed me that a representative would reach out to get the payment for the labor and to schedule an appointment. A week went by and no response. I emailed them again on 12/9 and asked for the status. It is now 12/13 and still no response.I believe Cornerstone Building Brand's business practices constitute unfair and deceptive trade practices. First, they refused to honor the terms of the warranty. Then, they acted as if they would honor the warranty, but then, ultimately, ghosted me and refused to honor the warranty. I believe the public should be warned not to do business with Cornerstone Building Brands for these reasons.

This is related to Order No. ******** placed with Cornerstone Building Brands. On October 24, I submitted 2 claims: 1) Case ID ***************** ***** ?****************** REF:001811307874 for 2 replacement window screens for my dining room and 2) Case ID ***************** ***** ?14 wildflower ln REF:001811308264 for 2 replacement window screens for my home office, for a total of 4 screens. On November 29th, I received the screens but have two issues. 1) They only sent me 1 screen for each claim for a total of 2, while I requested 2 screen for each claim for a total of 4 screens. 2) The window screen was of the wrong size. Please see my notes on attached packing slip. For the dining room (first Case ID), they sent screen size ******* W x ***** H (Measured from frame edge to edge), while my current screen (measure from frame edge to edge) is ******W x 27.5 H. Wrong size and won't fit. Please send the correct size and 2 of them. For the home office, they sent screen size ***** W x *******H while my current screen is ******W x ******H. Please send the correct size and 2 of them. I'd like a supervisor to review and get this resolved in a timely manner. I'd like an email confirmation. Please note I bought the ***************************************************** 6500 series from ********** and is filing the claim under lifetime warranty and there should not be any shipping fees.

I send in a warranty request to Cornerstone Building Brands back on 9/23/24. I was told they would send me new rollers for sliding glass door. Hi there, I was supposed to receive a replacement door as you can see through the response sent by Cornerstone with my complaint. I haven't received anything and it was supposed to be sent by the 6th of January. I'm sick and tired of having to waste my time with this terrible company. Purchased new home now going on about 4 years ago from Tyris Homes. 84 Lumber in ************** VA supplied builder with Plygem windows and door. Plygem is part of Cornerstone Building Brands. Have been back and forth with representatives from 84 Lumber and Cornerstone Building Brands for over a year. 84 Lumber did come out to check, saw the problem and replaced 2 sets of window sashes to no avail. Representative from Cornerstone Building Brands was in contact and sent updated weatherstrip pieces to install on windows which also did not work. They obviously are aware of a problem if they have updated strips. They have many pictures of the window corners that obviously look defective. Main problem: all 17 windows and one sliding patio door do not stand up at all to any wind. The air GUSHES in. the stronger the wind the worse it is.Sent them a video of holding a strip of paper near window corner which was blowing all around and with a stronger gust of wind blew the paper straight up in the air. These are the worse sealing windows I've ever had or have seen. Where we live gets windy weather mostly just December through January. Who knows how much additional utility costs we've had. These windows and door are simply bad, weatherstrips and replacement sashes have not worked and they need to be replaced with different ******** claim case ID number with ********************** is ******* also PG-******* Ref: ************ also *******-G6V5K3. I am rejecting this response because:

Yes a technician did come out, he was a good worker and replaced bottom seals and added side seals on all windows but unforntunately it was "putting lipstick on a pig". I don't know what he did on sliding glass door, but it is no better, it still gushes air through top and bottom with any wind. Most the windows did get slightly better, it turned gushes air into a strong draft, still unexceptable. Is there a air infiltration rating for these windows and door? Again, I can't beleive a big name like Plgem would sell such inferior windows and door, they are the worst I've ever lived with. I'd give the techinician and A for effort, but at this point wouldn't be happy without complete replacement of all and not this brand and upset over who knows how much more in heating and cooling it has cost and all of this on a brand new house. Your tech. and 84 Lumber said it was not an installation issue. We love our new home, everything but the windows and door. Can you please compensate?

      Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because:

Got to experience a couple windy days since 2nd techinician came out. The windows are barely any better and the sliding glass door still gushes air from top and bottom track. Again, I'd give the technian A for effort, but the window quality is so bad, nothing can be done except replace with different brand. The technian added yet more seals in the track, problem with that is, they don't belong there and come out of place and twist up in track whenever you operate the window. He did give me extra seals, but every time you operate windows, you have to refit seals. This is unexceptable, especially when they don't seem to help much. Seems to me by adding seals all over the window corners and tracks, the manufacturer must be aware of problems.Never experienced windows and door this bad and they shouldn't be sold for consumers. Will you pay for window replacements?

      ***********,

We want to ensure that you feel completely confident in the results of our inspections. While both of our official inspections have shown consistent results indicating that the windows are likely to pass AAMA testing, we understand that you might want further assurance.

If you would like, you can certainly arrange for an air test to be conducted by an AAMA-certified tester and if the windows do not pass the test, we will be happy to reimburse you for the cost of the test. We genuinely believe that the windows will meet the required standards.

Should you choose to pursue this option, please feel free to contact the following company for testing services: *******************************************.

Have read their response. I will arrange to have windows tested by **** certified test. This may take some time.
Highly doubt they pass and also the door.
